  1. I almost replied "he's been dead for about 70 years!" But I didn't. ?
  2. I just went through the early pages of this thread and realized how much technology has advanced in 5 years. With 3d printing you can make whatever you want, no need to wait for Revell, Round 2, Tamiya or whatever. Well guys, get to it!
  3. If this one was white, it would remind me of the Caddy in "Gone in 60 Seconds". Loved those guys!
  4. I've never seen the AMT snap kit of this car, it's got nice proportions. Good job on the presentation.
  5. Love it! Looks great in orange. Charlie's Angels anyone?
  6. I've got a couple of these kits, but have never been inspired to build them - until now! Very clean and detailed build of an uncommon kit. Really nice.
  7. I had read that the decals were slightly translucent and didn't fit right from the box, but it looks like you matched them up beautifully and they look opaque to me. Well done on the entire project! Where's Huggy Bear?
  8. I like the flow of this, and how the proportions balance out. The window opening compliments the front cove and the rear of the C pillar matches the rear of the fins. The shortened roof makes these details more obvious. It's looking like a Ford design study from the Custom Caravan years. I hope you choose a period paint color to complete the theme. A pastel color or a platinum silver would look stunning on this and accentuate the curves perfectly.
  9. Those are the fun times! Keep it up and she'll always have happy memories of you and model building!
  10. I remember when the 1989 ads read "Lindberg's Back!" and they promoted the 1/20 Stealth and the S10, as well as small clips of their 1/32 Porsche 930 and Corvette ZR1. These kits were to be the first out of the gate for Lindberg's resurgence. At the time, no other manufacturers had kits of these in their lineup yet, so the interest was there. I remember my friend and I each bought the Stealth and we looked forward to the S10. I built mine as a roadster, because the roof looked so out of proportion that I just wacked it off and made a trunk with a top boot to remedy it. I think my friend gave up on his because there was no turbos in the kit (a mistake they later corrected in their Mitsu 3000GT, but by then it was too late). I was unimpressed because, other than the large size, detail was no better than a smaller scale. In fact it was less! The wheels and tires were blocky, the mirrors looked too big and many parts didn't fit together well. Reviews I read said the S10 was even worse, so even though Lindberg's quality improved with later releases, I'd lost all interest in the series and 1/20 scale and never bought another one again. It didn't help that their box art was totally uninspiring, or the fact that it seemed that almost every car on their boxes was either red or black - practically blending in with their dull display layout. To this day, I still have an aversion to 1/20 scale kits (except the Econoline van, but that's another story). Adam, these kits really are losers to me, but your writing on the subject at least still makes them seem interesting. Keep up the good work!
  11. With so many small block Chevy powered 32 Fords, there is only one name this truck should be given.... "Restitution!"
  12. Is that an air cooled VW engine? I'm not sure what the kit blob looked like, but if it's like other Revell snapper parts, then the part you made is tons better! I also dig those wheels and tires you made too.
  13. I haven't tried it, but the original one looks much thinner and less accurate than the Revell. You could try to post an ask in the wanted section here for it, you might get a hit!
  14. Great output. All cars look beautiful! You've got an eye for appealing colors.
  15. Actually, no. The Charger 500 used standard fenders, the Cornnut grill was just pushed forward for aerodynamics. The Plymouth Superbird used Dodge Super Bee fenders to match up with the nosecone. That's also why there is a filler panel between the hood and nose. It was needed to blend everything together.
  16. I article clearly says he got the car as a goof. Threw out a cheap bid and it won! He has no plans or delusions of restoring it, he just wanted to prove that something this bad could run again. He also said it's not safe or street legal, but it does run - Fast! In the end, it'll probably be picked over and scrapped. There's just nothing much you can do with it. It'll never make Barrett-Jackson. At least everything but the vin tags won't!?
  17. We just have to be aware that not every release is going to be a home run. R2 now has a vast tooling bank and not everything they put out is going to trigger goosebumps everytime. The phrase "You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please ALL of the people all of the time!" seems to hold true here. We all have to be grateful that they keep coming to the plate as often as they do. After all these years, they still seem to surprise us with interesting stuff we haven't seen or ever thought we would see again. The surprise is what makes it fun! We could say Round 2 is like a box of chocolates...
  18. That maybe so, but it looks pretty dippy now. I can't imagine they'd do too well going flat out in the quarter. At those speeds, it'd probably break up!
  19. I agree, the original issue never looked that good! I'm satisfied with the appearance of the chassis. Sure there is more detailed chassis' available for those who want to go the extra mile, but what's included is workable as it is. It even includes something OTHER than a Hemi! Does anyone remember how bad the General Lee chassis is? And that's got the same history as this one. This would be an improvement in that Charger too! I do hope they include radiator hoses as I don't see any. I see their future plans including the 68 hardtop, 69 conv., HT and A12 440+6. And if we're lucky a 4 door cop car and a wagon. Brady Bunch anyone? (I know, it was a Plymouth Satellite, but we can kitbash, right?) But I'll take the 2 doors and make the others if I have to. I can see lots of ideas with this car.
  20. Ouch! Don't remind me. I had the body and chassis for this annual and I eventually threw it away because it had thick paint all over it. That was right before I learned how to strip paint from plastic. Aarrgh! Sob. ? Still have this box though.
  21. If this is the level of detail on this kit, then the nay-sayers have no leg! This thing is "off da hook", there is no comparison to the original issue. It's 100× better!!
  22. As a general rule, I've found that convertibles didn't include cloth interiors. Water leaks cause stains ya' know. So I usually don't do cloth upholstery patterns on those builds, unless I've found original documented proof that it was available.
