  1. I enjoy replicas of family cars and like that you showed us a picture of your uncle in the same car you built. Cool build!
  2. Amazing shine!
  3. Looks good to me. I don't even see the repairs you had to make. Kit has the look and feel of a Nova, I don't see what the criticisms are all about. Definitely better than the Trumpeteer kit and easier to find too.
  4. New Revell kit goes without saying and the old Monogram is the stepchild nobody talks about. ?
  5. I love it. If an old kit comes out and nobody comments on it, then new builders complain the kit is junk. If we do comment, then the old builders complain, we know what to expect so shut up! Explain to me what the purpose of this chat forum is, please?
  6. Even the tires from many of R2s recent releases (like the Datsun 620 p/u) would do wonders!
  7. I was thinking the same thing about all the Star Wars, Star Trek and Coca-Cola stuff. If it makes them money for them to indulge in our little peccadillos, then so be it!
  8. This one's on ebay right now. It's an 80s - 90s reissue, but should be pretty close to current condition (except for the wheels and maybe tires). Might be interesting to have a build off thread here and see what we can do to subdue this beast!
  9. I'd say, just take out the roundness of the inside of those flares. Run a tube with sandpaper around it and carefully open the rear wheelwells slightly bigger. That should be all you'll need to sharpen the flares. Looking good so far.
  10. Wow, 3d technology has advanced so fast since the days of choppy layers and brittle materials. Those look as good as plastic kits and resin molds!
  11. Final years were just Studebakers with a guppy face. Almost looked like taxi cabs. Sad end for a premium luxury manufacturer.
  12. Dave, Please clarify what parts are more accurate than the AMT kit? I have all three versions - old Revell, old AMT and new AMT. Other than a gang of more parts, I find the Revell off in many ways to both of AMTs. (Pictures pulled from online, nice builds!) Old AMT (Oldtrucker's build ?) New AMT Old Revell Not only is the body misshapen but the headlight shapes, bumpers, side trim, fuel injection and valve covers are weak interpretations of the 1:1. The opening features just make it worse. The top even looks chopped compared to the others. On it's best day it could look like this. But this model has been really reworked to look better. In fact, the headlights and front bumper could be from another kit (maybe MPC), because the kit parts don't look anything like this! Compare with the Roth car above.
  13. Hope not, I'm stiil hoping for a reincarnation of the stock Imperial.
  14. Tough truck. How much ammo does it carry?
  15. They owned a Trans Am? One of my favorite cars, as you can see by my Avatar.
  16. Beautiful car. Now I hope he doesn't take it to Foose or somebody who'll blow it apart to make a rat rod out of it! ?? Cars that survived this long should be treated as the veterans they are.
  17. If you're going to chop it, I recommend smoothing away the slight hump in the back for a more streamlined look.
  18. Both of those are tasty. I can see a lot of possibilities with this.
  19. As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her, and she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead.”
  20. Wow, what a save! The finished result looks amazing!
  21. Blue was used on some replacement aftermarket shocks, so it is acceptable for a used car with 25-35 thousand miles.
  22. You know what they say about when in doubt... Why not just try to find the paint color in a formula you're comfortable with? It's not worth the risk to experiment on a prized build. Now if you already had both paints on hand and a junker to practice on, by all means have at it!
