  1. Here's hoping Round 2 uses the Hot Wheels brand on many of their future kits. I can see a HW Ford Louisville hauler, a HW Dodge L700 car carrier, a HW Ford van (MPC kit please!), as well as a matching muscle car series. Dare I say - 69 Charger, 67 Camaro, 69 Barracuda or 69 Oldsmobile? If it works for collectible Coca-Cola, then the Mattel die-casts have a following too!
  2. They also did it during WW2, to save them from being sent for scrap. If the car was used for utility or commercial purposes, it could be registered for the streets. It also helped to gain easier access to fuel, tire and mileage rations.
  3. That's perfect, now we can compare the two.
  4. I just remembered where I've seen this before.... Chrysler Atlantic
  5. Personally, I liked their subject matter, I just never had many places around to purchase them. Also, I can't recall them being available for very long.
  6. Might be a case of too many armchair critics = not enough sales. So they took their bat and ball and went home. I see it all the time here. Why didn't manufacturer X make the kit I wanted, in my scale, in the color I want, with no flash/sink marks/blemishes, with all the details and NO build issues. Oh and make it cheap to buy! And then, when we get one home, we cut it up, redesign and remake it, change parts, paint it with bad paint. Then complain the kit didn't go together easily or look like the real thing. Personally, I'd rather have a weak kit than no kit.
  7. Excellent save, looks EXACTLY like the box art!
  8. Looks impressive to me!
  9. That thing's wild! Very creative build. Welcome aboard, Show us more of your stuff.
  10. Great tribute to a great guitar player!
  11. I like the weathering too. Those floorboards must've been a rusty mess to need that many metal signs to fix 'em. ??
  12. Chan, can you shoot a straight on side shot of one of your cars and the kit body? I think I can see where the wheelbase differs in the kit but I'd like a side by side camparo.
  13. I've seen worse designs on factory cars! Looks like a natural progression from the retro-modern theme of a decade ago. Although the purple paint is OUT!
  14. Wassat? What'd he say? Ayye?
  15. Actually, I don't mind this one. Looks better than an original Vette.
  16. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Imagine if this was done to a 10 year old Porsche or Ferrari. "There will be blood in the streets, tonight!"
  17. I remember this shark on Finding Nemo. Anybody notice it's got Toronado wheels? Think it's front wheel drive too?
  18. That's not even a Vette. Look at the doors, it's an Fbody - Camaro or Firebird. Save this one for the ugliest Camaro thread!?
  19. Bill, I know your skills, you could probably layup your own scale fiberglass shell and create a better one! ??
  20. It does look good. Do you still have it displayed? (it was posted 15 years ago) I remember one of the premium collectible companies actually made a scale Corvette model with a fiberglass body! I've always thought, if I buy one, that would be the one I'd want to get.
  21. Bill, that Vette looks great! But I got to ask.. Is the body fiberglass or die-cast metal? I've always had a problem with metal model Corvettes.
  22. Well, 5 clams supposedly buys a sealed original annual kit from 1969. But... Judging by the wear on the corners of the box and the freshness of the shrink, I'm suspicious. Why is this 50 year old plastic so clean and defect free? I wouldn't give a plum nickel on this possible scam!! Remember, there is also an Ebay seller that also sells vintage, mint, empty boxes. Me thinks one sale leads to another.
  23. Those are cool! I always wished I could build complete models with brass. It was just too frustrating for me. I like that he simply polished the metal afterwards, so you could still see it was all metal. At least he doesn't have to worry about it breaking if it falls off the shelf!
