Boss Hogg '70 Cadillac Deville
Oldcarfan27 replied to Andrew D the Jolly Roger's topic in Model Cars
Well worth the work you had to go through to make it. Now it just needs a "fat, little buddy" in the back seat! -
Looks good to me. I like the white stripe on the green.
-
Dude! I'm really liking how you are including the headlight shell detail. That's exactly what they looked like! And they fit right over the same '73 fenders.

Wow! Video of purchased collection!
Oldcarfan27 replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Probably true, but even their collections will be dispersed again someday. The key is to be the last "collector" when everybody else has gone! I'm betting that won't be me. -
Identify these wheel covers. Early mercury.
Oldcarfan27 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm guessing early to mid 60's. I don't think there were any later 60's Mercuries - except for Cougars. And those definitely didn't come from a Cougar. Comet perhaps? -
Any input on this MPC Mustang?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You could also use them on the MPC pro street Mustang, since those are easier to find and the stock parts are gone already. -
Sounds like it would be easier to make it into a General AFTER a jump!!! ?

Need it, Got it, Need it, Need it, Need it, Got it, Got it. My favorites are the Johan's and some of the annuals. I'll have to check my garage - I think they got my stuff! -

AMT '69 Dodge charger Daytona new box art !!
Oldcarfan27 replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
They could continue this series for years. I'm just hoping they're serious enough to fill out all the stamps. These ones would get me to buy into their tin box gimmick. -
Any news of Revell do something this year !

3 shows that haven't aged well and that I find very dated are Three's Company, Love Boat and Fantasy Island. The stories and actors are lame today. Might have been acceptable for the 70s sexual revolution, but today seem very ripe for "harassment" charges. Although, I do miss John Ritter, he was a likeable guy. Died way too young.

Yep, that's a photo. Is that an MPC Christie?
-
I see no problems from here. Looks great to me.

Don't lose interest in building, you've got good skills. We need to see more. My fave is the SX. A kit not often seen!
-
Did the basis for your build come from the Revell lowrider Caddy? Those diamond tufted seats and that roof and trunk shape look familiar. Supreme creation, my friend. I'd enjoy building cars like that!

DeLorean Time Machine: WIP (Photos Restored)
Oldcarfan27 replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
I enjoy BTTF III simply for Thomas Wilson (Mad Dog Tannen). First couple times I watched the movie, I didn't even know it was the same actor as Biff. He is so unrecognizable as a cowboy and he did such a great job as a ditzy one! -

I have an idea, Take the vertical strips, stack them together tight, cut evenly spaced notches into the front sides of the stack and then spread them out. Next do the same with the horizontal strips, stacked together for each half and cut notches in the BACK side of the stacks. Assemble them like tiny bookshelves. Angle the vertical strips to allow for the angle of each half of the grille. Then trim the grille halves to fit the opening you've made. It's probably tedious, but it's the only way I can think of to get even spacing for the eggcrate shape of the grille. I hope I explained it clear enough. Best of luck.

DeLorean Time Machine: WIP (Photos Restored)
Oldcarfan27 replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
I always look at the posts you've edited. Great to be available to see them again! I enjoy these movies with my family, so I have a fond interest in detailed builds of this car. As always, thanks for taking the time to fix them. -
Dark side PT Cruiser
Oldcarfan27 replied to Redisetta's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
How does he even see around to drive. Endless blindspots! But at least he'll be in shape when he does have an "incident". -
Surprised no one here has brought up Benny Hill or Mr. Bean.
-
These are the most fun builds. Leftover and junkyard parts put together to make something unique. Great job and great color choice!
-
I admire your tenacity on the grille. I personally would've tried finding a flat custom grille with a similar pattern or a photo etched sheet to use.
-
My take on them is this. If they're intact with all of the scripts and trim, I'd vote to preserve the details and either restore them or do mild custom with them. Observe the physicians creed "Do no harm". You'll always find worse projects that you can be more radical on, but you can't return the good details if you ever change your mind. However - if the trim and script are already butchered, then clean them up how you wish.
