  1. Great addition to this thread John. Thanks for posting it!
  2. This guy's late to the party, things like this have been done before.
  3. In Steve's case, his only need gasoline to run! ?
  4. Why not be safe and just use the same paint?
  5. For those who don't know the album.
  6. First car was a 74 avocado green Camaro 6 cyl, auto car with no options but a factory AM/FM radio. Car had been in a front end accident and was totaled. My dad got it cheap and I took it all apart to replace the damaged parts and restore it. Had it back together and running in about 4 months. After a little fine tuning it became a very reliable ride and I used it for about two or three years before giving it to my sister for her first car. We had it sitting out front of our house, when someone offered $500 for it. As none of us were using it anymore and we figured no one else was going to give us a better offer for a car with a salvaged title, we accepted it, he drove it away and I never saw it again. Figured a local F-body wrecking yard was buying any local Camaros they could get their hands on, because I had a friend with a 76 Camaro and he was approached with the same story and the same $500 offer.
  7. That's a sweet dog! She sure does take care of you. That reminds me of my family's cat, named Curious. She is a very contented and loyal pet. She never leaves the house (her own choice, but she always likes looking out the open door). She goes crazy over olives - they're like catnip to her. And she catches and eats bugs around the house - we haven't had to deal with indoor pests for years! But the most curious thing about Curious, is that she is a lap cat with a special talent. When one of us is tired, achy or not feeling good, she will sit by or on us and knead at the very spot that is hurting. It's like she knows where we hurt and massages that painful area! We don't have to put her there she just comes over on her own and tries to make it "better". Don't tell me that cat's don't like people!
  8. Nice job! I almost can hear "Beast of Burden" on the radio. Sure like that those wheels went to good use.
  9. A Very ambitious project. But worth it. Keep it up!
  10. For primers, grainy is not a bad thing, as long as it blocks and provides attachment for the paint. Sandable primers are supposed to be block sanded before applying color coat finishes. If you've ever seen a paint job applied over an unprepped primer, the color usually takes on the look of cottage cheese. Block sanding smooths out the foundation for the final finish. Does the primer dry hard and sandable after curing? Does it craze the plastic? Does it provide protection of the paint to the plastic? Practice on unpainted plastic and let us know. I'd like to find out if it's a good replacement for the bad primers we currently have available.
  11. I'd offer him $1500. After all it is a used old car and it needs 4 new tires!
  12. You sir are insane. These parts are incredible! Honestly, I didn't know MicroMark still sold their "Incredible Shrink Ray" machine. I shoulda bought one when they were on sale. ?
  13. Thank You Dave. I'm confident that between you and fellow long-time members, improving the old threads can make the forum better as a whole. I look forward to being able to look back and read and enjoy the past.
  14. Is he going to be alright? Did he get hit by the truck or did he trip over all those parts? ?
  15. What scale is that? 1/32 or 1/24? If it's the latter, I want to find one of those for myself.
  16. Reminds me alot of a Tonka truck I had as a kid. Like a Deals Wheels car! I like it a lot! Build more. ?
  17. Way too cool! Great idea for a project and you don't even have to worry about getting the paint perfect! And Thank You for serving!! ?? ?? ?? ?
  18. I personally enjoy the old information, no matter what the date is. I agree there is good information in a lot of it. My beef is in the threads where people have made comments specific to the work that the writer posted. Without a photo to refer to, I don't know what they're talking about. I'd like to see someone's completed Aston Martin with real shooting lasers and bullet proof glass, including the step by step build of it, but I'll never know what he did because I can't see any of it. Great comments on someone's root beer pearl 70s street rod with working suspension and oil on the dipstick. But what does it look like? Would it help the moderators if we reported the threads as they came up? BTW, Thanks to Dave and others who take the time to fix their posts so future readers can enjoy their work. Kudos to you!
  19. This is cool to see. A Flashback of a Flashback of a Flashback. Looking at how great AMT was in the 60's, followed by a decline in the 70s, to a resurgence in the 80s and 90s, followed by neglect in the 00s and finally a rebirth of magical proportions by a group of people who have a passion for their products - just like it was in the beginning! A complete 360° return to it's roots. I say, "Thank You Round 2!"
  20. I was browsing the other end of the "Built Model Trucks" thread (dated 2006-2011) and was frustrated by all the posts that have lost their attached files. My question is to the moderators. Why not delete all the wasted posts with no pics? And no, I don't mean the ones that never had pics or links. What's the point of saving reader comments with no visual reference? We can't see any of the subject's contents anymore, so I don't see the value in old dead threads. Am I the only reader who thinks this way?
  21. Very authentic color, scale finish and patina. Looks real! I like automotive touch up paint. On models it lasts and is as durable as on 1:1 cars.
  22. One of my favorite Hot Wheels cars. I had the one called "Dixie Challenger". Probably wouldn't be PC nowadays. If that's the Lindberg kit, I want one. The proportions look real good!
  23. Rallys look good on just about anything!
  24. Beautiful. Way to go, improvising parts to finish it. Excellent color choice, BTW.
  25. Great job on this Oldie! But next time you might want to use a less distracting background. Whatever is going on higher up is making your paint job look like it's got a bunch of "goobers" or water spots in it.
