  1. Sounds like the title of a Bond movie! Very appropriate for this thread.
  2. Since your building a custom anyway, you could always say they used Camaro panels on the Firebird doors. They'd probably fit on the real one anyway. Same doors.
  3. If it's a metallic plastic, I would suggest you refrain from any paint stripping on Johan plastic. I think the metallic ends up making the plastic brittle after stripping and it just isn't worth the risk on such a rare model.
  4. Cool! Love different cars!
  5. Does anyone know if the real car ever had the look of a 72? Or was AMTs box always wrong?
  6. Those boxes do look great, very exciting! I'm liking the Peterbilt. This one and the Kenworth Aerodyne are my favorites.
  7. But why would you do that? The whole idea of a supercharger is to boost horsepower. Why go through all the trouble just to fake it? It's like putting Hemi badges on your V6. People will know it's bogus.
  8. It's great that you take the caption out of context to comment on it! You seem to have left out the part where I commented how he was able to make a good model out of it! If I seem to recall, these kits didn't attract kids much either - that's why they ended up in the mark down bins. So your snippy remark is a moot point anyway!!
  9. Great tip!! Never would've thought to use shoe polish.
  10. I think you found a perfect solution for it. Well done!
  11. I always paint the insides gold and (while still wet) wipe off the excess paint from the highlighted chrome edges. Using acrylic paint and painting small areas at a time makes the job easier.
  12. Big Pass!! ? But maybe try the Charger grill on the Challenger and see how that works.
  13. That's looking great! Just make sure you get the "W" shape going for the back end. Would 66 Riviera taillights help get the shape you're looking for?
  14. Ahh, the Nissan "Joke". If ever a moniker fit the name, this is it!
  15. My favorite for that era is the MPC 69 Olds 442, but I've heard others say the Revell 72 Olds works well too.
  16. Definitely the best issue of this kit! It has the possibilities of regular pickup or camper. Stock or custom. Lots of parts, including stock decals. I can't wait! I don't know why it took them so long to do this one instead of the stepside version.
  17. Grande? Converible? I just hope its not simply a Mach1, I need variations!
  18. That's the 70s in a nutshell! Stance, sidepipes, tire combination, engine induction - check. All it needs is more diamond tuck, shag carpeting and a CB antenna!
  19. Still, he had good taste in cars!
  20. This is awesome! Show us a picture of the finished back end so we can see how you did it. I've got a few junker GTOs like this, now I want to try my hand at one.
  21. This story is so sweet and heartwarming. I really love that you're spending that kind of quality time building models with her. These are the times she'll remember when she grows up! She may even take up the torch from you, keep encouraging her! Great job Dad!!! ???
  22. This thread makes me sad, as I remember a few nuggets I foolishly tossed out because I couldn't see the use in them then. A 66 Pontiac Bonneville body and bumpers. It was buried in 30 coats of enamel paint that I didn't know how to remove, but it was intact and I assumed it was similar to the 65 that I already had. A month after I threw it out, I read an article on how to strip paint from plastic. A "Wild Hoss" 78 Bronco. I had customized it to many times and it too had lots of paint, but I know now I could have stripped it and started over. I still have parts of this one around. 72 "Boondocker" Blazer. Same as above. Since this one has been reissued - it doesn't hurt as much. Johan 75 Eldorado and 74 Javelin AMX snap kits. Each had a couple chipped pieces that could have easily been fixed. 68 Chevy tow truck. My dad had built this truck twice! One as the pickup (painted dark candy blue) and the tow truck (lime gold). Since I already had the pickup and the tow truck was missing the grille and some other parts, out it went. I know, I know. Foolish youth!
  23. I have 2 words for you... "Trade Fodder" We all have junk for gems!!!
  24. Don't forget the most important tool in your arsenal, The ever-present TV going on in the background! ?
