I like the color choice. I wouldn't worry about the stripes, they'd just detract. BTW, what thinner do you use and what ratio for craft paint? Color selection is huge, price is minimal and clean up is easy! I've been thinking of using it, but wasn't sure how it would work. You've shown me it does work well!

Reminds me, I have to get back on that one! ? I didn't know people remembered my stuff. Thanks, Snake.

Good beginner kits?

Add the recent AMT 59 Imperial, 62 Buick and probably the 65 Nova wagon to the list. -
Good beginner kits?

I always liked the AMT/Ertl Snap Fast Plus kits (90s unassembled promos). Quick, easy, sturdy and nice looking when finished. They also had a large selection of cars and trucks. Although long out of production, prices are still cheap enough to buy for the newbies! -

Another glue bomb saved. Great job, Michelle!

Wild build. Your work gets better and better with every build! Keep it up!

I remember the astronauts driving Corvettes in the movie Apollo 13, but I never knew it was a "thing". Now I have to do the research on them. Great job on it, and cool inspiration!

GM 59 and 60 C pillars
Oldcarfan27 replied to hedotwo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
GM used body skeletons on many of their cars that were used across all divisions. It was the exterior skins that made each car different. Yes, the roof is the same for all divisions. Usually, the glass is too. -
I've thought about using something like these for murals New York Skyline at night Las Vegas theme Thing is, the interior has a very western, saloon look to it. May not work well with the modern New York theme. Might save that for my Visible Van. For this, maybe an Old West, Cowboy or Ghost Town theme. Thoughts?

I agree. Unfortunately, I haven't spent a lot of time reinforcing my airbrush skills, so decals and masking might have to do. I'd hate to spend all that time perfecting the body for paint, only to ruin it with airbrushing. However, I just thought about painting a mural on decal sheet. Hmm, that could work!

Foose Mach 1
Oldcarfan27 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great job on that, Michelle. You even proved the point that the Lindberg kit would be a close substitute for the real one! -
It's better! It's got a complete, detailed interior almost like the "Visible Van" Econoline. Actual opening doors. Complete chassis and engine with wiring and a rubber fan belt. (Pulled from online pics, mine are all loose)

I just went through some boxes of truck kits in my garage and pulled out this. I remember I won it as a door prize at a kit show many years ago. At the time I wasn't thrilled about it, but it was the only car kit on the table, so it's what I chose. Looking at it now, I'm pleased that I kept it. I like all the details it includes inside and out. I'm wanting to build it, but because of it's size, I want to do it right! I plan on keeping the interior as designed, just detailed to make it look it's best. Maybe some velvet to represent shag and lots of wood paneling. What I'm at a loss to do is how the outside should be presented. With a canvas of this size, it's going to need something! I'm leaning toward paint panels, maybe some lace and fogged edges. Possibly a small mural on the upper areas behind the doors. A cool name would be a plus! It's gotta be very seventies in color choices and in themes. But not raunchy, it's going to be on display and I have kids. Any ideas? I'd like to see vintage pictures from the 70s.

So the longnose is based on the original 69 annual, but the Mach Won comes from a 70 annual. Both may still exist. So are there TWO separate kits?

I only own cars with "potential". No run of the mill skateboards for me. My project car is a 78 Trans Am I bought in Fresno, Ca for $400. Originally a 400/4 spd combo. Came with a 403 Olds and an automatic. I had my suspicions when I found the Z code in the Vin, but was confirmed when I found the clutch pedal tucked under the carpet! I currently have a W72 400 block waiting to be rebuilt. Still looking for a Borg Warner Super T10 to match up with it. My keeper is a 75 Ranchero GT that my dad bought new. I still remember riding home in it the first day and can almost remember the new car smell it had. Stays garaged! My daily driver is a 90 Silverado shortbed with a shabby red metallic paint and grey velour interior. Another keeper my dad bought new. It's going to get restored someday. For now I keep it maintained and reliable until then. My wife's mode is a 96 Suburban. The perfect family truckster for us. It provides us capability to do anything! Another one we want to rebuild when the kids grow out of it.

? Great perception! To me, these cars just need a bar of soap, some hot water and bubble bath! Looks like a fun project, though. Just don't paint it pink.
