Great build, beautiful details that have been skillfully added!

Thanks for all your kind feedback! Thanks Kurt! I use aluminium wire end ferrules for this. Thanks Bill and David. I agree, I think the color is a nice choice for this car. A nice and more elegant alternative to those bright "Big Bad" colors (which I also like). Thanks Robert. I used Tamiya TS-94 Metallic Grey over white primer. I found the color not to be an easy one, as it did not cover the white primer as easily as I hoped.

Clean build, well done!

Hi Kurt, just curious, how much $ does it cost to have a frame like that "chrome-treated"? -
Best built-right-from-the-box kits?
Tommy124 replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have found the Revell 62 Corvette Roadster to be the best US car (full) kit I have built so far. Absolutely no issues but great details. -
Nice Chevy, I like it!

Hi Dann, nice to see you back at it! M,self, I get a lot of pleasure from building those "simple" kits once in a while, too. Correcting the obvious errors and adding the desired details... Of course, you take that detailing to another level as usual, but that is just why it's such fun watching your WIP's!

Buick Riviera '66 (resto of an AMT kit w/ scratch-built headlights)
Tommy124 replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
Thanks for your feedback! I appreciate the criticism and have to agree you are right on both points. I might be tempted to do some correctional work on this build, also with regard to the exhaust pipes which happen to be a bit too big in size... -
Buick Riviera '66 (resto of an AMT kit w/ scratch-built headlights)
Tommy124 replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
Thanks guys! Well, obviously, there are several opinions about the "goofy" headlights I understand that because (to me) they significantly change the optics of the car. However I tend to disagree with Snake here, I think they add a touch of aggressiveness that the car is normally lacking IMHO. When I first saw an image of a Riviera with the headlights opened, I decided that my build should have that too. Plus this offers some kind of a solution for showing the hood open. @Lee: I made the lights using pieces of Evergreen tube in 7.1 mm diameter which I further drilled open for a bigger diameter to make the aftermarket lenses fit in. -
Nice snake! Well done!

Beautiful result! The several shades of GREEN all blend into each other nicely!

Looks really good, I like it a lot!

Hi Ludwig, Beautiful mopar! Again great „Big L-style“ work on the paint, foil and detailing! Good choice to go with the Pegasus wheels too!

I haven't seen this build before today... Very nice, great work!

Thanks again for your feedback, gentlemen! Thanks David, this is a very simple kit but it works very well in its simplicity. For instance, the way that the interior tub is fixed to the body, the body is fixed to the chassis - using the good old "male/female fixing" technique, it's just working great. You'll have to add some BMF and painting details to the interior and deal with quite a lot of BMF'ling on the body. But that's not unusual for a kit of that era. There really are no "traps" that have to be considered. It has to be said though, that the engine detail is a downside on this kit. As are the kit's metal axles . But then again, when building such an old kit, I really do not bother too much. Thanks Steve. It would be great to see a re-release of this kit. I might be tempted to build another one, this time in the Lightweight version. I'll take that as a compliment! Actually, I got the idea for the color scheme from this image on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Galaxie#/media/File:1963_Ford_Galaxie_sedan_2_--_06-05-2010.jpg

Thanks a lot for your kind words!

Great work on the hinges, Steve. They look great but (naturally, in scale) also kinda fragile. Are they really supposed to be working several times? I have found something similar last year. They look great when painted and mounted correctly. But they are not WORKING ones, so you can only display the hood open. http://www.davecoleysemporium.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p6920_After-Market-Bonnet-Hood-hindge-kit-keeps-the-hood-open-for-display-2-pairs-per-pack.html

Excellent build - like it a lot! Great overall work and it looks really 'real'.

Wow! Early days of February only, and you have finished your second build already! High quality at high speed! The turquoise color is a nice change for the more common red or black body colors. Very nice interior as usual, the dark color is a nice contrast with the body color!

Hi folks, I got this one done. AMT "Prestige" series, stone-old kit as we all know. Built mostly OOB, Painted with Tamiya TS colors. No clearcoat.

2004 Corvette Z06 Le Mans Commemorative edition, Revell, 1/25
Tommy124 replied to Matt Bacon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You sure know how to apply your 2k clear in a nice way. To be honest though, to me it looks like the decals didn't take it too well. Most of the white areas do have an "uneven" look about them. It might be that the surface itself is smooth, but maybe the one below the decals wasn't?
