Very cool Bernard. Authentic period details and the inner body structure you fabricated for it is brilliant. Well done! -
Ollie's strike again

Agreed. My local Ollies had a total of seven of those kits, all sloppily ripped open then thrown back on the table. Sad. -

My last '16 build. AMT '40 Ford vintage box art
FordRodnKustom replied to FordRodnKustom's topic in Model Cars
Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your comments. I know this kind of thing isn't everyone's cup o tea but it is mine and I enjoy doing these old box art builds. Stay tuned....there will be more! -
Just finished this one up today. I like these kinds of builds, especially as a slump buster as this one was. During my research journey I found that the original kit number decals were not like the box art at all, wrong color and bigger. There are some rare original sheets out there that are like the art but I could not get one so I found a rare reverse color original issue AMT '40 Ford coupe number set that I thought looked just right. The build was not without problems but overall it was fun and I like the final result. It looks cool on the shelf with my other vintage box art builds. Thanks for checking it out. Comments, questions and discussion always welcome.

Your Rarest Built Kit.

JoHan 59 Olds flat top It was a crusty glue bomb when I got it. I have an AMT 58 Ford but it is in "as found" condition so I would take that as unfinished. I'll be restoring it soon, like I did this one. -

LOL! That's funny. -
I've been working on this Modelhaus conversion for the Revell Ranchero kit. It's getting time to start thinking about paint and trim but while doing some research on these things I'm a little confused about the trim. It seems that some of them have the pillars around the windows done in the oak like trim and some don't as illustrated below. I can't seem to find any info on this. Anyone know what the story is and what is correct? Thanks!

Just picked these up at a garage sale. 2 bucks for the lot. The case is mint, only the gold spray is open but feels almost full.

$30+ kits - hows it affect you?
FordRodnKustom replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm out. The retail pricing is far out of my comfort zone and I don't like the quality of the "new" styrene being used in kits as of late. The only way I'll buy one is on deep discount with coupons or clearance. I have a sizable stash of parts and kits with many being older issues so I have enough to build for a long, long time. -
Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep an eye out for it. Should be hitting the mailbox soon.

A few more. -
Thanks all! And Andy no, I cobbled these wheels together and then cast a few sets in resin. You can see more about that if you're interested here in this photo album of one of my other modified builds. Thanks for asking, http://public.fotki.com/bigfordpilot/my_built_model_cars/built_models/built-models/7x_coupe/

Very sharp build Bill with excellent detail and overall finish quality. I agree with your philosophy to build them. I recently retired and plan to build all of mine. No sense saving them for the next owner!
