  1. Awesome. 80K miles is super low. Enjoy! or peeling it back and realizing something seeped through and now you have to repaint the whole thing.....
  2. Very cool project. I'm really impressed with your scratch-building skills! Looks great!
  3. Not much of an update really, just slowly chipping away at it, test fitting stuff before starting to hack into it. Assembled the roll cage, test fitted it to the interior, and made sure it clears the roof w/glass in. It does - so far this is a nicely engineered kit from Fujimi. Also masked off the glass for paint.
  4. Bill, yeah, they sure are zippy little cars. They are light, which makes them a hoot and easy to handle with little power. I have not driven this car, but test drove a 92 (I believe its a 3rd gen?) and it was a blast.
  5. Thanks Dann, maybe one day I'll get there
  6. Headlights assembled, installed into the body: Checking clearance - looks good: Tops attached: And they are alive!
  7. Haha, its all good! Just funny.
  8. Very nice. You made a problematic kit look like an award winning work.
  9. Fujimoto?
  10. Do you heat up the plastic so it takes shape after you tape it to the wheel?
  11. Rear quarter window b-pillar and trim around the window should be black as well.
  12. Very nice color!
  13. Keep at it, looks good.
  14. Classic Datsun! Watanabes is a good choice for this one.
  15. Thanks, I think it actually took longer to mask, and take masks off, than to prep the body, primer, paint, clearcoat, and polish. So tedious! Not a big fan of masking.
  16. Body was clearcoated, polished, and masked off: Moldings and window frames painted black. I also painted inside of the bodyshell: Masks off: Motor in! Headlights wired: Here is where I'm at this point.
  17. Very nice.
  18. Not often do you see this built in any other color than blue. Great job!
  19. Getting close!
  20. I did use tamiya TS color, but I decanted it and airbrushed it. I never really had any success polishing metallics straight without clear though - I always end up with some spots that are different in color. So clearcoat is a must for these IMO. Plus, when you airbrush these, they come out rather flat.
