  1. Yeah, I tend to not over-do the areas I can't see after completion. What's the point? Yeah, I know its there, but there is very little satisfaction in that.
  2. Have it in my stash - yours look good. Decals should liven this up in a hurry!
  3. Thanks guys. If anyone knows answer to my question above, I'd appreciate if you could share.
  4. Let's see those patent papers.
  5. Nicely done. I like the Fujimi EM hub idea.
  6. I think this will be pretty much as out of the box as it comes. Some detail painting, yes, but no aftermarket of scratchbuilt anything. Just a clean box stock build.
  7. Ahh, sorry, didn't see the line on the image you provided. Yep, looks like there is a crease AND a panel line there.
  8. Starting this project that will be mildly super-detailed (like that’s a thing), but will definitely not go all out. Will be building this one just like on the box – presentation version. I have bunch of these kits, and will likely build some liveried versions in the future, so this will be a trial run for the kit. I will use a combination of Fujimi-provided and aftermarket photoetch on this one, CF decals, and other extra bits here and there. I bought a HD PE set for this one, but some of the parts are not accurate for the presentation version, so will use what was provided by Fujimi, especially for the front and rear mesh pieces. Fujimi fret provided in the kit: Hobby Design set: Started with the rear mesh, hoped to drill out the mesh piece itself leaving the frame to attach the PE piece to it: In reality, it turned out too fragile, and I broke it several times while handling, so scrapped this crazy idea. After test fitting the mesh, it appears that it won’t be needed anyway. Air outlets glued in place and seams filled: Since I removed the rear mesh, I also removed the pegs where the chassis plate is mounted in the back. I wanted to retain at least two in the front, so had to come up with the solution to keep them and cut the opening for the front mesh as well. Slightly cut the sides: And removed the front molded piece but left most of the mounting holes there: Can’t really see it from the front: Test-fit the mesh – still too tall – need to remove more: Now looks much better – tucked in nice and flush with the front spoiler: This is where I am with this one for now.
  9. Thanks, I know there are aftermarket decals. The thing is, per contest I'm building this for, can't use aftermarket decals. Only what's came in the box. There is a solution that Microscale makes called liquid decal film. You can spray it over decals and it creates an extra layer that hold decals together. But! It makes them thicker, and you'd have to trim these very close to the edge, as there will be one constant clear film in-between.
  10. These are not panel lines, these look to me like a crease in the bodywork. I would superglue a very thin wire where the crease should be, and then just putty the rough shape. Then sand to correct shape.
  11. Yeah, the decals are my only worry. They do look good, but you never know. Might just fall apart the second they hit the water. Will find out I guess.
  12. With Skyline done, time to start on another pretty box... Tamiya 1/24 Alpine Renault A442B Turbo #2 24H LeMans (D. Pironi/J.P. Jaussaud) this time - original 1979 release in a shelf-worn box! This one will be strictly box-stock - only parts that come in the box will be used. Building this for a box-stock contest on a Russian website.
  13. Question for the board - how can I copy a message with all the image links (not just embedded pictures)? Thanks.
  14. Very cool look! Excellent build.
  15. Very cool! Love the look and its pulling this "baby blue" color real well!
  16. Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Turned out better than i thought, and I love the look of the finished model. Will make a great companion to my bayside blue GT-R 34! Благодарю! I really like clear hood! Obviously you can have it painted, but its great to have this choice, surprised not a lot of other kits are made this way. Very cool to have a model on display and have this see-through-the-skin kinda effect. Will definitely build more this way. Thanks!
  17. Thanks! The completed photoset is in the gallery now.
  18. This one is finished! Thanks everyone who followed along. And a few before putting it into the case for good:
  19. Thanks gents. This one is done. Few last pieces that go to this WIP, and then it will be in the gallery. I decided to go with black wheels, so typical Skyline wheel emblems were too dark. I foudn an old PE fret with some GT-R emblems from my R34 build, and used that instead: Turned out quite well: Put final touches and decals on the back, blacked out the exhaust tips, checked the stance, put decal on the hood: And this one is officially completed:
  20. Curious to see this one built. Wanted to get the kit too.
  21. Looking nice. Curious, why are the front frame rails are body-color when everything else is black?
  22. Good start!
  23. Great start! Its amazing how companies like Fujimi produce BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH kits like this and still get away with it.
