Oh Yeah! That color does look great on it!?

I‘ve also been toying with hood hinges. I’d like to do a set similar to what I saw on Rod’s ‘55 Chevy at the last club meeting.? I realize that the pivot points will need to be parallel, and this whole apparatus would need to be downsized a fair bit, but I’m not sure even then if I have enough free space under the hood once the engine is back in place.? I’ll keep playing with it between other projects…thanks for lookin’!? Edit: If anyone has pics of this type of hinge setup or links to a tutorial…please post ‘em up. Thx!?

I also stripped the rear taillight bezels, drilled them out, and molded them into the fenders. Then I made some new lens from a busted taillight I found somewhere.? They are a bit too transparent, so I will eventually “glue” them in place with some dark red paint I think.? The backup light lens I plan to make from a water bottle cap.?

I’ve been tinkering with this one a bit, and decided to remove the fender skirts. I didn’t like the raw fender openings though and felt that they needed a flare to match the front. At first I traced the opening and tried cutting some flares from sheet stock…but It wasn’t working out.? Then I came up with this idea. I glued a half round “tube” of .010” styrene sheet across the rear fender openings. Then I completed both flares on the outside before cutting away the excess in the center. The pics explain it better I think.?

I’ll admit I am a bit of a tool junkie myself and have a combination square set with the protractor and center finder heads that I use quite often. I also have quite a few tools that I bought and only used once, or not at all.? For a one time or occasional need, the method I showed in my link would certainly be accurate enough. JMO.? -
I have not tried it myself. I do however have a horribly thick leftover windshield from a Corvette that I replaced with sheet plastic. I will give it a try sometime just to see if it can be done. I think if flat sheet cannot be used due to compound curves, then vacu-forming one is likely the best option.

This spoon was sprayed with Revell Chrom. After it had dried a couple days, I dipped it halfway into Future. You can see the line on the primed inside of the spoon, but not on the chromed side.? The roughness is from the primer coat.

‘That body is looking really nice Karl!? The biggest problem with those kit wheels are that the fronts are 6 lug 4wd rims, and the rears are 5 lug 2wd rims.? -
My procrastinators anonymous group has a similar problem.?

Nice start on the engine.? Yes, apparently oil filters were a dealer installed option, and the intake manifold should be the same color as the block. https://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/miscellaneous/oilcanister.htm The Revell chrome has a very nice look to it. Not terribly durable…the Spaz Stix clear for their mirror chrome seems to go on fairly good with minimal dulling. I am currently redoing my Nomad bumper with it. Here is a thread on the chrome. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/181804-revell-spray-chrome-test/?

Very clever! ?

Series and parallel are two ways of connecting batteries that affect the final voltage.

That is beautiful! GM sure stepped up their styling game for that model year.? -
My tweezers were a tad short to fish parts out of the jar I use for stripping small parts, so I bought a slightly larger set.

Thanks Guys!? Well I am stripping the front bumper again.? I sprayed the Revell chrome straight from the can and got it on too heavy I think. It didn’t look too bad, but after the Spaz Stix clear, it don’t look good no more. Plus it has a bit of a blemish front and center.? I don’t think it’s the clear coat’s fault, but the overly thick chrome. My test spoon looks better….third times a charm they say?. Thanks Jerry! I love foiling…I wish I could do the bumpers in foil.?
