  1. Managed to finish off the’41 Chevy. More pics under glass.
  2. This is the Slammin Hammer kit. It went together quite well. I narrowed the visor a tad, wired the engine, and added tailgate chains. Other than that it is pretty much stock. Build thread here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/149693-41-chevy-pickup/?_fromLogin=1
  3. Finished now. Much better with the hood lengthened I think. More pics under glass here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/150758-revell-‘41-chevy-pickup/
  4. I didn't like the looks of the bed decal compared to my paint job on the bottom, even though it went in very nicely. So I peeled it out and tried the paint technique again.
  5. Really nice looking! My high school graphic arts teacher had one exactly like it.
  6. I bought a bunch of large plastic straws at the Dollar Store. They are close to 1/2” diameter. I cut them in half and spray into it with the other end held in the paint jar. I used to spray into a funnel but then I had to clean it. The straws I just toss. I don’t necessarily wait for it to outgas either. I figure...where would that gas be if I was spraying it directly on the model?
  7. Thanks everyone. It is this kit Dan.
  8. I have gone up under the dash and yanked that annoying buzzer right out!
  9. That is definitely a necessary modification when you have opened the doors up.
  10. Why all the flat paints? Do you find they flow out or cover better? If you’re covering with a clear, I guess the finish of the paints below don’t matter.
  11. I cut 3”x2” squares of glossy cardboard from frozen pizza boxes. Use ‘em once and toss them. The problem with that is it will harden in the tip towards the outlet so it is a one time use unless it came with extra tips?
  12. Very nice job. I agree, that colour looks spectacular on it!

    A few builds

Welcome! Nice looking vehicles. I too built in my pre and early teens, and did only two after becoming an adult. Now in my late 50’s I am retired and picked it up again. You will find everyone very helpful here. There is a wealth of knowledge here for sure! Make sure to post your new projects.
  14. Yeah, I think it was designed for patio furniture.?
  15. Quite a bit, but I’m not gonna reveal it yet. One thing I did do was modify my mitre box so I can get a full depth cut with my razor saw. The “spine” of the saw kept hitting the sides of the box. All good now!?
  16. I bought this at a flea market partially assembled. The engine was done, but none of the chrome was scraped from the joints so I had to re-do some of it. The interior was partly painted so I stripped it and re-did it. The red plastic body is just cleared with Testors Aztek gloss.
  17. The car looks great. Your workspace is far too clean and organized though!?
  18. Very nicely done! Love the colour.
  19. I think there is more historical-technical knowledge on this forum than there is on the 1:1 websites!?
  20. I do like to buy quality brushes, but you would be absolutely horrified if you saw me cleaning them!?
  21. I just made a new rear brake light lens from some Clear flash because I wasn’t happy with the kit piece. Red or amber bits could possibly be used for side marker lights?
  22. It’s gotta be pretty durable, it’s made to be walked on!?
  23. Really nice. I LIKE!
  24. The primer looks pretty good. Back to the Milliput idea...could it be rolled out with a rolling pin or dowel to the proper thickness, cut to shape and laid on the body so it conforms to the contours? Just spitballing, I have no experience with Milliput.
