  1. Hey me too! lol After discussing it with a friend, I think I might use this chassis after all. It's not the most square, but I've managed to straighten the real bad bars. I have some more bars in, like the front. I've also decided I'm going to use the kit dash, I have an idea of how to integrate it with the tube chassis. The fenders are separated now, and I'm considering making those and the hood one piece. I'll be working nights this week so I could get a lot done, or very little. Whichever it is, I'm hoping to have the chassis done shortly.
  2. Got a little work done. Chassis isn't done, but I might restart...I was trying to be cheap and straighten filament for my 3D printer to use for it, but it doesn't seem to straighten very well. Figure I'll finish it, and then just use it as a guide for a styrene one and for the engine mounting plate and what not. Focus on the engine itself till I build the actual chassis. I'll have to buy styrene rod probably tuesday or thursday. I still need to finish the hood, and then once the engine and chassis are together I can cut holes for the exhaust. I need to model wheels yet, too, anybody have suggestions?
  3. That engine sure does look pretty, detailed or not. If you really want to learn how they work, V8's are very simple. I can try to teach you, or there's numerous videos, forums, and other websites with animations and plenty of information to really help you understand. I build full sized cars, so it might seem simpler to me than it actually is, but I would definitely take a little time to figure it out if I were you. I, for one, find them really fascinating little (big) machines
  4. So, to calm myself after my disaster of a night at the drag strip yesterday, I've decided to throw another project on here. Probably a fairly common car for drag builds on here, but I'll have fun with it all the same. I'm sure many of you will recognize what kit it is right away. Where I'm at, I have the doors and trunk removed. Very start to a tube chassis. It has a scratch built wing and air dam. The body in general is in rather rough shape currently. I've got most of a procharged 572 bbc 3D printed, have a few things to reprint since they didn't turn out wonderfully. Lots of cleaning up to do. It'll have exhaust similar to the El Camino on Street Outlaws (cause, well, why not?) and a two tone paint job, anodized blue on top and white underneath. I've stripped the chrome, there's going to be very little on this car. Sorry for the overexposure in the pictures This build is probably going to be slow going. A lot of printing and scratch building will be taking place, and between working 10s and school twice a week, I don't have a ton of time. Of course, comments/thoughts are always welcome. Thanks for looking
  5. Coming along very nicely
  6. Me too. Hopefully he's okay, since he hasn't replied in a while and I know he mentioned surgery recovery
  7. Thanks guys. I've found that the weathering really helps in making a convincing model, I'm pleased with how it turned out
  8. This build has come to an end. All assembled and weathered. There's some small details that I hadn't mentioned before, and I made a couple small changes to some things. It's not perfect, but I had a lot of fun building it. Hope you guys enjoy it as well
  9. Didn't get to mess with it today (just got home from school), but I looked over the few parts I have left, and decided I'm not super fond of the mirrors. The actual mirror side is just flat, no indentation or anything. Any ideas on how to make them a little more realistic without destroying them?
  10. I just put plates from '79 on it, so about the right time frame too! I'm glad that this kinda brings you back like that. I feel like art needs to connect to people somehow, whether it be through a memory, a story, whatever. And I consider models art, so if I can make at least one person connect with it to an extent, I'll consider it a job well done. As for progress, just got the plates and glass installed. Wipers will go on and then the rest will wait for tomorrow night or this weekend. It's super close, I'm excited
  11. While i do support more administrators, this is true, for more than one reason. As a plumber and someone that's worked on cars for years, I've learned pretty quick that one 'small favor' can lead to a lot of your time being taken advantage of. I don't have an answer to the salary issue, and I'm not a tech guy, but it would be nice to have a second guy just in case. But for now, I suppose we have to work with what's here, and if that means a longer wait? Well, we all have the patience to build tiny cars, so I think we have the patience for this.
  12. Should've mentioned those earlier, I mightve added them! Lol yeah, it's been a fun build for sure. I'm sure I'll have plenty more like it as I go. There's a few things I'd change if I went back, like how I did the glass (that really fought me last night), but you live and learn right?
  13. My stuff came in while I was camping over the weekend. Took the rest of my day today to finish interior, the rest will (probably) be done this week. Here's the finished interior, thought it would be good to get a picture while you can still actually see it. I could've added more clutter (and it was tempting!), but I decided against it, since most of the interior won't actually be seen anyways. What I've found interesting is despite this being my most dreaded parts of the build (couldn't tell you why), it ended up being my favorite, with all the little things like the keys, door locks, and the little crumpled piece of paper on the floor. I'm looking forward to seeing it in a completed car, hopefully you guys are as well.
  14. Looking very good. The contrast helps for sure, I think
  15. Good idea. Just so happens I need to replace the strings on most of my guitars anyways, so I'll have a stash to try with shortly. They look a lot better than the doorbell wire I've been using
  16. Forgot to ask earlier, what did you use to make the lines on the master cylinder? Looking great so far
  17. The same camaro you're saving currently? What went wrong with it? I see a bit of the transmission, do you make those too?
  18. No kidding? I like em. I guess I'll have to shop around, that or 3D print something similar. If I can get my printer working right anyways. That thing looks sick so far. Is the body attached currently? I don't have styrene at the moment, but I'm about to start building a tube chassis for my Chevy II from filament, and seeing how yours is altogether (which looks pretty great from what I can see) would help. I really like how you did the firewall, I might use it as inspiration. Though is that windshield going to clear? I'm just wondering if it'll hit on those bars going behind it
  19. A light black wash would probably do the trick, and then just a little sanding on the tread. Though I'm sure you have your methods figured out
  20. It always amazes me how many turbo setups there are out there. My 1:1 foxbody has one, and my setup is nothing like this. There doesn't seem to be a "right" way to do it. Did you make that turbo, or buy it somewhere? I was going to do a supercharger with my Chevy II model, but I might have to do something like this....
  21. Looking good, where are those front wheels from?
  22. Looking forward to see how it turns out. I have a die cast car I intend to rebuild, and haven't done one before, so perhaps you'll give me some ideas
  23. Looks good so far. Are you channeling the car to make that frame fit and have it sit so low?
  24. Good looking car! I didn't even know Testors made model kits. Might have to look into getting one. Also, gotta ask, how did you do the seats? Those look more realistic than most I've seen, if not all.
  25. https://www.sljhackett.co.uk/cars/gordon-keeble.htm This looks like a good one... On a serious note, I can't find any. Closest I can find is a 1/43 scale die cast. Sad day I think everybody here can relate to this pretty well, or I can at least
