AMT: 1956 Ford Victoria Drag and Custom Version
geetee66 replied to John Teresi's topic in Model Cars
Ohhh yeah! Both are utterly splendid They have a real solidity to them. The excellent photography does them justice.. -
I bought this a while ago, but I've only just got around to building it. I liked the look of the lace decals, even though the lace is a tad out-of-scale. Gold and purple always go well together, so I used purple candy over a silver base. The horrible kit wheels were replaced with some from a Polar Lights funny car. Now, I've heard it said that this kit has one of the worst Ford SOHC engines in 1/25, so I decided to pep it up a bit. I added resin pulley wheels, intake, oil filter and gear linkage. I also added a Mallory ignition module and rear disc brakes. The engine had no magneto, so I made one that looks kinda like a Vertex. A Detail Master 5-point harness and a fire extinguisher were added to the interior. I had to lift the pickup bed a bit to stop the rear arches rubbing the tyres. A note to anyone who plans to build this kit...The front axle is set too far back. The rear edges of the tyres would foul on the bodywork. I know some guys re-position the leaf springs, but I'd already painted the chassis and installed the axle before I realized my error. Luckily, I'd only fixed the front axle on with CA glue, so it came apart easily and I was able to fit it in a better position with epoxy. The kit decals were dead tricky. They seemed to stick fast, on contact with the paint. I managed to get them all on, but it was a sweaty hour. 'nuff blurb.. Here are the pics: Comments appreciated Hope you like it Thanks for looking

1/12 `67 Corvette L-88 - Barrett Jackson`s $3.5 million car

Outstanding! I had to look twice to see that it wasn't 1:1!! The gleam you got on the paint is amazing. An extremely well executed build. -
You nailed it! Colour & finish are superb. A really crisp build. Super-clean work. I love it!
-
I DO like it! Excellent painting and use of colour. Superb little details, too. Really well done, all-round.

I love these cars! Such a gorgeous shape. Saw a bunch of 'em run at Dragstalgia, last summer. Made me even more of a fan. I especially like the wheels. There's something about them that looks very realistic. You made a 1st class job of yours. Killer paint! Superb work, all round.

That looks really good. The blue is a lovely shade Beautifully built, super-clean and looks just right. I'm going back for another look....!

Ross Gibson...engines...sad news
geetee66 replied to Howard Cohen's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Sad news. I've got a couple of his engines waiting to be used in builds. I'm going to try and honour his memory by installing one in my next project, as a tribute. -
Slick. I love most cars built in 59, but this is one of the best looking. I'm digging the purple
-
Excellent! I also like the capless look. Some real nice details there, right down to the chrome bars on the tail lights. A feature often missed on 59 Impalas. Wicked finish on it, too. Very convincing build, especially the motor.

Hmm.. I was going to put a Gibson 392 Hemi gasser engine in a 41 Willys pickup. Now I've discovered I need to mate this to a transmission, (which the Gibson kit doesn't supply). Does anyone have any idea which transmission would be right for this, and where I can get one in resin..? Anyway, I like a challenge. I built one of those old Revell multi-piece bodied kits recently. Because it was difficult. True, the RG engines need a bit of cleanup, but some of the parts are really crisp. I guess it depends on the batch.

That 36 has real attitude. The flake in the red paint is nice and in-scale and retains its' sparkle well. Did you leave the 36 unpainted? It looks like old paint, but I've got a Dick Tracy version and it's in black plastic. You're banging 'em out like a machine! Why does it take me so long to finish one.....?
-
You nailed it! Good choice with the seat covers The cooler looks great and the black paint has a mile-deep shine I love the wooden board. You got a nice gloss on that, too.
-
I'm not familiar with this car, but it looks tough! Colour, stance, attitude...it's got it all.
-
Very nicely built. Sharp looking model. The dash dials look good
-
I agree. Your photos look like original promo material. Clean, precise and convincing.

Thanks everyone Dominik, I used self-adhesive decorative border patterns, normally used for greeting-cards. You can find them in craft shops. I applied them before I sprayed the candy purple. It's important to let the paint harden before you remove the mask. Candy paint seems to want to peel away with the masking pattern if it's a bit soft.

Sub-zero-cool! I love the colour combo and the wheels look excellent with the colour accents. Are they the same wheels as in the 55 Ford panel wagon 'Bootlegger' kit?

1st time I've seen one built for the strip Very good

1960 Starliner and 1960 Ford f-100
geetee66 replied to Beeg Juanito's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
They're both great and go well together. I like what you've done to the Starliner and the pickup bed full of pit gear adds to the whole story. Nice work, fella! -
Well considered and cleanly built. It looks correct in every way. Thanks for providing the list of parts/sources
