I've never had a set of sprue cutters, I've always used side cutters (what I've always called dikes) and then did my final clean up with the X-Acto knife. Is there any advantage to switching to a sprue cutter over the side cutters? I would think I would still have to finish with the X-Acto anyway...

Another example would be they call the Caravan the first mini van but I personally would say a VW Micro bus is a mini van

I think I enjoy restorations the most
SCRWDRVR replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I enjoy the restorations better too, for me I think it’s all the years of schooling and years working I had in the 1:1 auto restoration field. I always enjoy that work and the satisfaction of what I accomplished and doing the kits brings that back for me... -
My 1st attempt at plug wire holders
SCRWDRVR replied to SCRWDRVR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's all good, the info is just what I want. Having seen that I understand what you mean but the kit I'm doing the headers are more traditional and apparently not accurate. I don't have that much in parts to be able to correct it.. -

I have an older version of that I'm going to rehab and I'm pretty sure it says 454 on the valve covers... -

I can understand that, I built I believe 10 kits last year mostly box stock so I do expect that number to drop some as I get more detailed, although it does seem like I'm spending more and more time at the bench... -

Ok I got you know thanks for the tip... That does make it easier for sure, I'm hoping to find a reasonable way to do these without the added expense. Not that they are that expensive but it all adds up and I have to watch my dollars and sense lol... -

Oh ok sounds easy enough, those aren't glued in yet so I will have to try that. Thanks. I'm not off by much in size then, I think I have an old cat5 cable I'll have to see if it fits mine, thanks Thanks, do you mean you use it to make the wires fit tighter? -

I think you may be right the caliber at .026 which is a touch to big I think but the smallest I had. I need some smaller bits also but neither are in the budget right now. The blue was intentional, I like the idea of the leg and I think that will come for me but this was my first step. I haven't learned how to do the boots yet and I'm a big fan of making the stuff rather than buying it but that is on my list to work on. Yeah don't ask about firing order its not even close I just mixed them up so they didn't all come from the same side. Oh and the engine is the 426 max wedge from the Color Me Gone 64 Dodge -

Yes, cut up a aluminum can -
I have several of them also, they come in handy quite a bit.. I’ve ended up collecting white, red, blue, green, black and gold. I use the white, black and gold the most.

Thank you, I just looked it’s a 1,2 and 4mm I have. The 4 is way to big for most things, the 2 is definitely the most versatile -

Yes all free hand, I practiced on some old kits to get used to the tip and the way it flows. -

I have a 1mm 2mm and 3mm and almost always use the 2mm. I will use the 1mm in corners the 2 is to big for and the 3mm for bumpers and such. This GTX is a rehab of a kit I originally built 20+ years ago, all the chrome on it is from a molotow pen even the bumpers... The wetter you apply it the better it looks and do it last it’s not handling friendly -

The 'other' Graffiti cars ?
SCRWDRVR replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You would have to add Suzanne Summers 56 T-Bird, it may be a back ground car but it's brought to the front several times. Other than that I would say you have the major cars, and the police car with the rear axle ripped out would definitely be a cool addition. -

That makes sense I bet it would stink trying to drill it after, good tip I'll have to see what I can do, I have some heavy duty scissors but they might be a little big for this. Anyone have any pics of there looms? completed or while making?
