  1. I am very uncomfortable about using CA on the body could trash the whole job for sure, I do have some white glue and maybe the thing used for those parts, I did buy a set of small drill bit recently to get the #72 for my plug wires, thanks for the tips... I will get some of the Plasti-zap I looked it up and saw a small video on it I think that is probably a good CA for me to use, I never used to use toothpicks but have started using them in the last 6 month and it makes a huge difference for sure. I have never come across anyone saying to do the boots that way and that sounds like it would make it much easier to install them thanks for that info I think that will be a huge help.I have been trying to rummage though things to find small wire to use and it's been a challenge finding it so believe me I will be saving all my scraps for sure but another great tip, thanks
  2. I find myself in a area of uncharted water for myself, I've started building the Revell 70 Torino GT and this release has photo etch parts that come with it which is something I have never used before. So in my genius (not really) I decided to detail this kit farther then I ever had but realized there are a lot of areas doing this I have little or no experience with one being the use of CA, I've never used it on a kit. I've never added battery cables which I am on this kit, I've never used bare metal foil which I plan to do the window trim with, I've never done heater hoses which I plan to do and I plan on adding fuel lines which I have never done. So down to the basis of the post I want to here about you guys experience with things thing, tips you like doing or not doing and if you have ever built this kit any info on it you think may help. I know this is kind of general and I know these topics are all over the forum but I've seen you guys work and I know there's those things that make them so unique and incredible. Here is the kit I'm doing and how it currently sits
  3. I've never used any of those glues so I honestly couldn't say it's not the strongest glue but your usually not pushing on glass much after the install, I'm assuming your acetate is not very thick and pretty light weight so I don't think it would have any trouble holding it in place. I use it for all my glass in kits including windows and lights, I will sometimes use it for mirrors also because it won't damage the paint and you can clean off any you get where you don't want it just wiping it.
  4. The Aleene’s is similar to elmers glue holds the window’s in place nicely, also won’t damage the glass if you need to get it out later it will come out and not leave glue marks on it.
  5. I use Aleene's tacky glue for all glass, dries clear....
  6. They came in a older kit (a 73 I think) I have a couple of sets, never cared much for them myself...
  7. I missed that, I guess you have seen it then
  8. Mine is small compared to a lot of peoples but this is my most resent pic, I’ve added a few since
  9. I’m sure this doesn’t sounds right to me and I say that because an OEM radiators cooling fins and tubs are aluminum only the tanks are plastic and the cooling is done in the tubs so I call BS... doesn’t compute....
  10. Mine had the stage coach’s today and these
  11. Nice build, I've never seen that kit, I'll have to look for one I'd like to do that one also....
  12. I was in the one in Dover DE the other day and only new thing they had was the 38 Ford, I'm hoping they get some other good stuff like last year....
  13. Nice!!! I've been curious about how the new 2+2 built up. Great build...
  14. I have the same set, I haven’t touched the Monte Carlo yet.... they are nice kits
  15. Looks great!!!! I am currently doing that Grand Prix also, it’s a nice kit...
  16. Thank you....
  17. Thank you, I've always liked him as well. It always amazed me how little Kodak changed the paint scheme though the years also...
  18. Sounds like the tip is starting to clog up and your not getting the flow needed to get the chrome look...
  19. I've done the same, I've had people send me stuff and I've sent people stuff like said "pay it forward". I've also just paid shipping for someone to send me something as well as bought things from people also that wanted something for them. I would say your best bet would be post what your looking for and talk to anyone that has what you need though PM to make a deal.
  20. For glass I use Aleene's Tacky Glue, it drys clear and wipes right off if you get it in spots you don't want it. It's a lot like elmers white glue...
  21. I did google pics, some Grand Prix had the some didn’t but that would definitely explain it since this car is an 81
  22. I checked one of my Monte Carlo Aero coupes but it is different, Grand National is a definite possibility, thanks....
  23. I am currently working on a build of Earnhardt Sr’s #3 Wrangler Grand Prix, while working on it I noticed today I don’t have quarter glasses for it and looked at an old build of mine of Darrell Waltrips #11 Regal and saw it doesn’t have any in it. The Monte Carlo ones I have do have them. Am I right in thinking the Regal and Grand Prix kits didn’t have any?
  24. Thank you, AMT's decals really are not the best I think I would have been more surprised if I didn't have an issue with them. The chassis' definitely are some what generic since back then the dash like you mentioned didn't match but each driver had there own dash laid out the way they wanted it, I would be interested to find out what they took it from also. The paint is a testors paint I tripped across in Ollie's one day and it had the orange shade to the yellow like the Kodak color has and I thought that would be perfect. I'm not sure how close it is but I thought it was pretty good (especially for a buck lol) Thank you...
