  1. Hi Steve! Thanks for the pics. This is obviously a well attended event! I'll put it on my bucket list. I had a 32 3W that I built in 2004, drove it around and then sold it in 2006. Here's a blurry pic I found in the online coverage of the Rhinebeck NY GoodGuys event I attended in 2006. Thats the only "digitized" pick I have. I did not own a digital camera back then. CT
  2. Hi Steve! I'm ashamed it took me so long, but the light went on in my head this afternoon. My grand daughter was taking a nap on my lap, and I was leafing trought the latest Contest Car, and saw that candy red 66 Chevelle in a report from NNL West. The caption contained the words Acadian Canso. Uh? Can this be a guy from Canada? West coast, like, near BC? Then, I connected the dots: it IS the Steve Hayden that I chat with on this forum! But wait, there's more: a great rod PU, plus a Highboy 32 Sedan in the report from Deuce Day... All great cars, and well deserved appearances in Contest Car. Congrats again! Regards, CT
  3. Thank you Kurt! So many visitors are suggesting something along this way... I'll have to think about it! CT
  4. Thank you Gerald! I'll show your comment to my wife... she always laugh when I say model building is a "form of art". Now I'm vindicated! CT
  5. Thank you Dann! There is a subliminal hidden message at work here, somehow... CT
  6. Thanks Steve! Now that you mention it... there might be a pattern here! Maybe I need to visit a shrink? Or just build a monastery van to transport the nuns around... That could balance things! CT
  7. Thanks Steve! I know Flintstone Studio has a couple of ladies I can think of... But I'm afraid my wife, daughters and grand-daughters would not approve... CT
  8. Thanks Steve! That would be it! I felt that stuff smelled strange, I should have known... CT
  9. A good choice, then. Keep on, it's an interesting project! CT
  10. Hi Sir! Now I know why I fell odd while building it! LOL. Now it makes sense. Thank you! CT
  11. Hi Bob! Wow, impressive job! It's a chore to run lines on 1/1 cars... I can imagine the hours at the bench for this car. World class, bravo! CT
  12. Hi Rob! That's exactly what I was shooting for: have FUN building something that defies any logic. The styrene gods allowed it, I guess? CT
  13. Hi Chris! Thanks. I try to keep up on the coolness chart, but it gets harder every day...
  14. Hi Juergen! Thanks for the comnments. To your point about the paint, still, it's simply Testor"s Wet Look clear (spray can), not sanded but vigourously hand-rubbed with Farecla No, 6 compound. I am saddened that Testor's pulled out this product. To me, it was most effective, mostly due to its perfect viscosity. Tamya's TS 13 is fine, but lays out much thinner, and evaporates over many more days. You are often faced with surprising "gloss reduction" a few weeks later. Therefore, you have to wait for final polishing, at least in my experience. I tried to stack-up on Wet Look as much as I could, but it is hard to come by nowadays. If you can get some, do it! Will Revell's new spray clear bring good news? I'm still waiting for my first can soon. We'll see... CT
  15. Hi Francis! Thanks for the comments. With twin Hemi, I should have known it would end up on your radar, sooner or later! As for painting, having seen the world class finishes you throw on your creations, I have no doubt you'll be up to the challenge on your Dodge PU. But if you ever are wasted when you come to this step, I'll be happy to chip in. CT
  16. Hi Misha, thanks! This kind of centrally located coil was used on many show cars in the 60s. Mind you, most only rolled from the transporter to the arena, so... CT
  17. Hi Tim! Thank you so much. The truth is that at most shows, people are puzzled by a "lakester", Many can appreciate the details, but have few references as to what it is. Hence, my choice to parody the famous So-Cal white & red paint scheme. If one car was widely shown in a myriad publication, it must be the So-Cal Coupe! That may have helped with the judges... CT
  18. Oops... a typo in the title: It should read POLE DEPOT DELIVERY. Sorry, I'm not good with computers... CT
  19. HI! In these trying times, why not a little fun with a pile of leftovers? Mash-up a trash-bin Revell 37 Ford panel cab, a Vette Agin central frame section, a Lindberg Dodge Caravan seat, two AMT 53 Stude blown engines, a 66 Nova dash, a 32 shell & headlights and unknown rolling stock (all modified). Scratchbuilt front & rear frame sections, suspensions, floor, tunnel, firewall, shifter, windshield, interior panels, 4 disc brakes, steering rack, hatch & tailgate, poles and custom decals. Throw in scratchbuilt metal headers, throttle cables, injector linkages, rear bumper & taillights. HOK Sunset gold base + Metalflake's copper candy + Testor's Wet Look clear & Alclad and Molotow chrome. Wired & hosed. Who said crazy show cars were a thing of the past? 60's live! Hours of fun with styrene! CT
