  1. Kinda like a situation I have constantly. I've had back surgeries. So, I'm not able to use a chain saw very much. Maybe a few minutes with a really small one. Whenever I have a hardwood tree fall, I'll try to find someone who burns firewood and let them know they can have it if they cut it up. I even offer to haul it to the road for them if they can't get to it with a pickup. No one ever shows. My dad said, "Well, maybe if you cut up into firewood, they'll come get it." I said, "No. If I cut it up, they'll want me to haul it for them too. Then, they'll want me to unload it for them. As I drive away, they'll complain about how I didn't stack it for them. I'll just burn it where it is or let it rot." His saying was always "some people would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope". Never really got that one.
  2. That's a nice looking Impala! The pearl white really pops and the red interior really sets it off! The wheels and tires makes a great final touch! I wish I had waited for this version for the better wheels and engine parts.
  3. Just put an ad in the wanted section. Someone will more than likely have those parts and be willing to trade or sell them to you.
  4. Better off to be patient and find a good '61. It will take a lot of work to turn a Ranchero into a sedan. It's not as simple as putting a roof on it. You need the trunk, tail panel and you would have to shorten the Ranchero behind the rear wheels. I think there's also a difference in wheelbase. You'll have to have a sedan to turn the Ranchero into a sedan. I've seen many straight '61s on ebay. They're out there.
  5. I got the paint yesterday and couldn't wait to spray some to see what it looks like. I painted the floorpan, door panels and dash. Easy to see why it's called Gray Green. It's a tough color to truly capture in a photo. Shows a little better in the sun light. I made a couple more modifications to the cab. I added styrene to the bottom of the side glass openings to bring them up where they should be. I also added the hood trim from the F-1. I cut the bottom spears away since there wasn't enough room. Once dry, I cut out a slot below the spear. To me, it really ties in the car's front end with the truck's cab. I'm contemplating using the pickup's bumpers. I also have a set of smooth bumpers from the IMC '48 Ford that a member on another forum who was kind enough to send to me. I'll have to see which suits it best. Luckily, that's a last minute detail.
  6. Thanx! I just polish and dip them in Future.
  7. Hard to beat the old AMT 3n1 kits.
  8. That's the very reason that I never bought one.
  9. There was also the '81 Turbo Trans Am. The '79 Camaro Z/28 with dual washer reservoirs and no battery. I built about all of the Monogram kits in the '80s. They were simple with the one piece suspensions/exhaust. But, they also looked the part for the most.
  10. That's a cool looking old Ford! I like the paint and the way you painted the wheels. Nice touch!
  11. That is a really nice looking Ford pickup! I really like that it's a replica of your father's truck. I especially like all of the added details and the scratchbuilt six cylinder. I did the same type of build with a '75 not too long ago.
  12. That's a cool looking old Ford truck Randy! I like the color scheme on it! I could see myself driving something like that around on the farm. Are the tires from the kit? They suit it perfect!
  13. The effect in person is just as it should be. Especially when it's out in the sunlight. It is hard to capture in photos. But, I'm more concerned with how it looks in person. To me, the pearl effect should never be obvious in photos. If it is, it's overdone.
  14. Thanx Carl! I don't have the color in hand just yet. Don't have the primer either. Should be here anytime.
  15. I've decided to go with the Tamiya AS -29 Gray Green. Haven't decided if I will shoot pearl over it or not.
  16. Easiest way to lower it would be to do an axle over conversion. I lowered a '53 using the de-arch/ moving the spring mounts up on the rear and cutting the spring mounts down/de-arching the springs on the front method. A lot of work for a little lowering. Works well if you don't want it really low. This one was lowered with the axle over conversion. Right where I wanted it. It really depends on how much you want to lower it.
  17. Definitely not stock! The weathered paint really makes the look of the model!
  18. Now that is cool! Great kitbash and I even like the V-6! What is the color on it? I really like the look it has. Nice work!
  19. It could be from spraying the black over the primer after only an hour of drying time. Did the black look like that before or after the clear? I always spray primer, wait a day, sand, spray paint, wait a day, sand and then clear. I would sand it smooth with 1000 grit sandpaper. If you go through the paint, just spray your black and allow it to dry well before you shoot the clear. If you don't sand through, you can just shoot clear over it.
  20. I got the body in the first coat of final primer and I'm out. I need to order a couple more cans and get the paint also. I did a quick mockup and I'm not that thrilled with the look. Don't know if it's just the wheels that need changed or if I need to change wheels and tires. It just doesn't do it for me. Maybe my mind will change once I get some paint on the body. Until then, I'm going to put it on hold.
  21. No, I don't. The first photos are the first ones I took.
  22. Those may be an option! Are they all one size or do they have different o.d.? I very rarely use the same size tires front and rear. So, I need smaller o.d. for the front tires. The tires on this pickup are what I usually paint. It's not a big hassle to paint them. But, if I could find something as easy as those and they have different o.d., I would use them.
  23. Actually, I had worked on it for a couple of days before I started the thread. So, I have almost two weeks into it.
  24. Not a fan of Imperials. But, I like this! The color and wheels really makes the model! What's the name of the Aoshima wheels? I'd like to have a set of those.
