I don't use an airbrush. But, if I did, I would definitely use lacquer. Unless you enjoy waiting for paint to dry.

Arii makes a really nice set. But, they're hard to find and expensive. I like the slots that come in the Revell '41 Willys gasser kits.

INQUIRING MIND WANTS TO KNOW?
Plowboy replied to satterwhite78's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you do a Google search for Reliable Resin, you'll find out exactly what kind of business he runs. How he has a 100% feedback rating is beyond the scope of my thinking. You may be safe through ebay and PayPal. But, I wouldn't chance it with an amount of money that I wasn't willing to lose. -
Thanx guys, I appreciate all of the great comments! With this outta the way, maybe I can get back to my '67 Mustang coupe project and get it done.

That's a cool looking Torino! Looks like the Mustang interior fit it pretty well. Really like the wheels!

The latest reissue of the AMT '60 Ranchero has those hub caps. -

Thanx Tom! The wheels are from the kit. The paint is the old Testors Red enamel. This is a pretty old build from back when I was still using enamel paint. -
Thanx! I polish it and dip it in future.

Nice and clean! I don't think there's a cleaner look than white. Nice work!

Actually, it's a '61 with a '60 grille (with a little change to it). This little model was a rough restore! It had been painted with a hot lacquer inside and out. While I managed to remove the paint pretty cleanly, I had to do a ton of sanding to get the body smooth again. I gave up on trying to salvage the chrome on the side of the body and shaved it. I did manage to keep the scripts. I didn't bother with the interior much. Just replaced the dash and steering wheel along with adding an automatic floor shifter. The rest was just paint and detail. The body is in Model Masters Diamond Green with a coat of Tamiya Pearl and clear. The interior is in Dupli Color Bright Aqua and black. Wheels are Pegasus Shueys with Pegasus disc brakes. It's a simple little model. But, it came out just like the vision I had for it. Thanx for checking it out!

Nice looking Galaxie! Some detail painting on the wheel covers would greatly improve their appearance.
-
I'm hoping it comes as a stand alone kit. I don't want to buy two kits to get only one that I want.

Monogram 1970 Buick GSX 1/24. First for 2020.
Plowboy replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
I have to agree with Steve! While the color may be technically "wrong", it just looks so right! It really suits it well and looks like it could have been an available color. It definitely should have been! Nice work! -
Exactly! People seem to forget that Tom Lowe had to pay for all of the molds. Who wouldn't expect him to try to recoup his money for every mold bought? I think once he has more capital from his investment, we'll see more new kits.

Agree with Rob. I was told the only difference in the full scale versions were the color of the front turn signals. I did a little research and that was the only difference I could spot.

Round2 just recently reissued the '65 Chevelle wagon as a surf wagon. Wasn't that long ago (seems like) that they issued it as the Super Wagon. So, I would be surprised to see it reissued again so soon. Didn't the Pinto have a wagon option? Never owned one and still haven't bought the reissue. We didn't see the four door '67 Impala coming either. So, maybe they have something up their sleeve. Hope so.

I actually saw a builder on another forum take a mint example of this kit and add the goofy looking custom pieces to it. And yeah, it was horrible to watch and look at when it was done. If I'm hoping/expecting, it will be this kit. If not, I would also be happy with a '66 Nova wagon. A '66 or '67 Fairlane wagon would really be cool!

The front end could be due to the stance. It may look different if the front was lowered and the rear was raised. Hard to tell for sure. The profile of the rear bumper is definitely off. The leading edge should be slanted more with the face to match. Hard to tell on the belt line also as the photo is from a low angle. Still, to me, there's nothing that jumps out like a lot of the Moebius kits. I'd buy it if I wanted one.

Painting chassis question
Plowboy replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I just brush paint mine with Model Masters acrylic semi gloss black. Virtually no brush marks. -
Perfect example of what I'm talking about is the "2020 Kit Development Update From Round2" thread in this very section. Before the second half of the first page, the '68 Coronet is mentioned which has nothing to do with the original subject. There's almost more posts about the Coronet than the original subject. Thread hijacked. That is what's annoying! It's like someone butting in in the middle of a conversation to talk about what they want to talk about. Want to talk about a '68 Coronet? Start a thread or find one of many already here.

'72 Jeep Commando
Plowboy replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, Round2 reissued it not too long ago. I think there's a review of it here. Not sure which tires comes with it. The tires on this model didn't come with the Stevens International kit. -

Thanx! No, I don't want to add things that would be difficult to remove. The lights are glued on with Elmers glue in case I want to remove them later. -
There's nothing wrong with talking about the '68 Coronet. But, it's annoying when threads gets hijacked on the subject. There are countless threads on here about the '68 Coronet. Talk about them there. People who care will discuss. People who don't won't have to read about it.

I originally built this a long time ago. It's the Stevens International issue kit. I recently gave it a revamp by changing the wheels, adding a splash pan up front to cover the the gap between the grille and bumper from a two scale inch body lift, lights/ bar from the kit, opened the grille and added volunteer fireman plates to finish the look. Thanx for checking it out!
