  1. There is. But, I need the room for the air intake. Plus, I would have to move the trans cross member forward, notch the oil pan more and lengthen the driveshaft. As is, I have the room I need between the engine and firwall.
  2. Thanx Bob! I never knew of that little truck! It makes me rethink the ground effects. That's a great idea!
  3. You're welcome Randy! Glad you found the set you were looking for!
  4. I agree with Mark on the '41 Willys chassis. May be that you could use the entire chassis under it with some modifications.
  5. Do a search on ebay for Aoshima and/or Fujimi wheels. I'm sure one of them will have something close. Probably not exact. Check Aoshima first. I know they have a set of ten spoke wheels. Here's what they look like.
  6. Thanx for the feedback guys, I appreciate it! First squirts of paint! The headliner is painted with Dupli Color Bahama Blue. Still needs Tamiya Flat sprayed on. I couldn't wait to see what the Haze Grey was going to look like. So, I sprayed some on the underside of the hood and trunk over barely dry primer. I'll sand and shoot them over later. I really like the shade of it! Not sure if I'll spray clear pearl over it or not. I know there will be those that say, "it looks like primer". But, it's quite different and has a very slight tinge of blue to it. You can see the difference in this photo. I'm thinking I'll paint the chassis and drivetrain with the Bahama Blue also. It'll make a nice contrast under the hood and against the floorpan. I'm going to hit the wheels with Satin Clear to see what they'll look like. If I don't like it, I'll paint them with Mica Silver and highlight the openings and rims with a Molotow pen like I did on my '69 Firebird.
  7. You do if you want to polish it. I only spray one coat of TS 65. Any more is too much IMO. I've never had a cracking problem with TS 13. Even when spraying it over other paints like Dupli Color and Krylon.
  8. I've been piddling around with this little truck for a bit. A while back, I ended up with the 3.0 DOHC V-6 from a 1990 Taurus SHO. Not wanting to let the little engine go to waste, I decided to stick it into this Ranger. I first mated the engine to the 5 speed from the Ranger. Stuck it in and saw right away that I was going to have to do some hacking. I first moved the firewall back as far as possible. I cut out the radiator and replaced it with the one from the Taurus mounting it as far forward as possible. The oil pan had to be notched. The rear intake crossover pipe had to be shortened. After all of that, it slides right in! My first thought was to make it a sleeper using the stock steel wheels and downgrading it to an XL. But, it just looked too plain. Then I temp glued the ground effects on it. That was too much. Now, I'm thinking I'll just make it a nice looking little truck with a bit more punch under the hood. The wheels are from an AMT '93 F-150. Don't know if I'll keep them as they're a directional wheel and the spokes are all the same direction on all four wheels. There should be a pair of lefts and a pair of rights.
  9. Just checked my MK Bronco and it has all four of the spoke wheels. I found it odd that it had the goofy looking green Boss Hoss decals. But, it didn't have the gray wrap around stripes like the boxart.
  10. I think Pegasus may now own the molds to the So Real wheels and tires. I saw a set of the wheels on the new Moebius Ford 4×4.
  11. Looks really nice Dan! All you need to do now is drive the heck out of it! And build a model of it. I built one similar to it years ago.
  12. Thanx Joe! I did a mini tutorial on a trunk hinge in my '69 Impala SS 427 convertible WIP thread that shows exactly how I make them.
  13. That is one wicked looking Firebird Marco! Love the color and stance! What color is that?

    '70 Malibu

Nice looking Malibu Steve! The red and black is a classic combo! I may do something similar to a '72 I have in the stash. Nice work!
  15. Now that's a tail dragger!
  16. Lucky day! The Haze Grey and Light Ghost Grey arrived by UPS! When I first saw them, I thought they didn't look much different than the primer on it. There's only a shade difference between the two colors. But, both are quite different than the primer. Looking at the two together, it looks like the Haze Grey will be the winner on this project. It has just a tinge of a bluish shade to it. So, it should go well with the Bahama Blue interior. I can't wait to get some color shot on it to see what it's going to look like! Plus, it'll help me make up my mind about the wheels. Now, I'll just have to come up with a project for that Light Ghost Grey!
  17. Thanx for the feedback guys, I appreciate it! I finally got the first coat of primer on. I made a couple of changes to the body. I added the quarter window detail using a strip of .020 styrene. I mulled over that for a while! It looks odd to me. But, that's how it is on the full scale. I may add the quarter glass to it so that it doesn't look out of place. After seeing Ray's Galaxie without the fender ornaments, I decided to get rid of them on mine also. Looks much cleaner without them! I have the body color narrowed down to two choices. It'll either be Tamiya Haze Grey or Light Ghost Grey. I want something similar to the grays you see on modern cars. I may shoot a coat of pearl over it, may not. Have see once I have the paint in hand. I haven't decided on painting the wheels or just shooting them with a coat of satin clear. Still plenty of time to sort that out.
  18. I use Testors Windshield Glue. A bottle will last a very long time. I'm still on my first bottle of it.
  19. The TS-65 is the best clear pearl there is IMO. It's very subtle in inside lighting or in the shade. Out in the sun, it really pops! It doesn't show really well in photos. But, in person, it looks great. All you need is one good coat, then follow with TS-13. All of these models have the TS-65 on them.
  20. Both actually. I used the Chevy tailgate on the GMC bed. I had to modify it a little to get it to fit.
  21. The photo of the Moebius F-350 shows eight lug wheels. I wonder if they made the I-beam with leafs or left the twin I-beams with coils?
  22. Can someone post a photo of the chassis plate from the AMT '72 Chevy? I had one. But, I must have pitched it. Here's a photo of an original issue AMT '72 GMC that has been shortened and has the dual exhaust. Note the big gaping holes at the cab corners and the bed detail that goes under the cab. Easy to see exactly where the cut was made. Then there's this issue of the '72 GMC. It was issued in 1990. If AMT made the '72 Chevy from the GMC, they would have had lengthen the frame to make it a LWB once again. I don't have an original issue '72 Chevy to check the date on it. But, I'm thinking it was around the same time. Probably later. I'm wondering if maybe AMT used the chassis plate from the MPC kit? The interior in the AMT '72 Chevy looks identical to the one in the MPC '72. Here's the chassis plate on the '68 promo.
  23. Yeah, it's from the gold truck. Maybe the one you have is earlier? I have a '68 that I can dig out and check.
  24. Actually, the MPC chassis plate has no exhaust molded in. Weird.
  25. I built one not too long ago as a short stepside. I was going to use the decals. I coated them. But, they still fell apart.
