Thanx Rusty! I'm looking forward to doing the foil myself. That's when a model really comes alive! -

Thanx Carl! Hasn't been with work. My sister and I are trading 24hr shifts watching my mother. -

Just a suggestion. But, if you're going with an engine that modern, I would use the chassis from a Monogram '37 coupe or convertible. It has independent suspension front and rear. -

This was a stock '37 chassis. At the rear, I cut the cross member loose, boxed the ends and glued it on top of the frame. Up front, I made what I call bull horns just behind the cross member. It has both the stock front and rearends. As you can see, it sets really low. The engine is the Hemi from the '53 F-100. -
I better check mine. I may have one with the wrong body.

There's still plenty of them around. Both stock and custom. -

Thanx for the feedback guys, I appreciate it! I'm still slowly pushing this one along. Very little time at the bench lately. But, I am making some progress. I have the floorpan, frame and most of the suspension in paint. Topside is also in paint. I decided to paint the trunkpan the same color as the interior. All of the interior with exception of the dash is ready to assemble. I'm doing something different with the underhood area. The plan is to leave the inner wheel wells gray. I also have the core support painted gray. Not sure if it will stay that way or not. I want to see what the engine looks like in it. I think it will give the underhood area a modern look. If I don't like it, I can paint it in Satin Black. -
Man! I look away for a minute and you're shooting paint! That red looks killer with the flat clear! It's weird how it makes the paint have a more dramatic effect. I really like how you did the wheels! I plan on doing a set like that myself as I just put a set of 20x10 Ultra Butchers on my old F-150 that have a black rim with bronze center. They look killer!

I've often read that the shock mounts on a full scale can't be chrome. I've always thought that was BS as the shocks don't hold the car up. The springs do. Someone posted this photo in one of my build threads on another forum and the first thing I noticed were the chrome shock mounts. I'm sure this isn't the only full scale hot rod chassis with chrome shock mounts.

Agree to disagree. I bought two of the F-350s when they came out. For the cost, I expected much better than what I got.
-
I think the problem with Meng kits is they're overpriced and not done very well. The F-350's are commanding prices on ebay that rival the old annual kits. The last one I had on watch brought $189.00 plus shipping and it was opened.

A soft cloth dampened with WD-40 works well on lacquers. Test on an area that doesn't show beforehand on the Rustoleum. -

That is a kickbutt little truck Luke! Yeah, I just call 'em trucks. I really like those wheels! Are they like that out of the box or did you modify them? -
I use crazy glue to fill small gaps. Get a drop on a toothpick, touch it to the gap and it will wick into the joint.
-
Pretty much all of the Testors Extreme Lacquers have out of scale metallics in them. Some colors are worse than others. Icy Blue is the worst as it looks like it belongs on a bass boat. The Mythical Maroon you used doesn't seem to be as bad as most of them.

Temporarily gluing panels in place?
Plowboy replied to GlueSniffer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanx! It was actually a Firebird coupe. But, out of the box, it has a wonky looking roof and quarter panels. It started out as an experiment to see if I could fix the body. But, I ended up building it. -
Temporarily gluing panels in place?
Plowboy replied to GlueSniffer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've done it both ways. Either a tiny drop of crazy glue or barely hit it with Tamiya Extra Thin. You're right about crazy glue being fairly easy to get apart and clean up. But, the Extra Thin works well also. It is a bit easier to get the panels back apart with the Extra Thin as long as you don't over do it. I had to glue the hood on this Firebird. I temp glued it with Tamiya Extra Thin on each corner. -
Thanx guys! I also have a '34 Ford pickup painted with AS-19 Intermediate Blue.
-
The AS paints are flat. But, that can easily be overcome with TS-13 or by polishing. This is AS-29 Gray Green with a coat of TS-65 Pearl Clear and three coats of TS-13.

That's a wicked looking Chevelle Bryan! I really like the wheels and tires on it! Did you print them yourself or purchase them?

That little Falcon has the eighties all over it! Nice work!

That is a sinister looking Bel Air Luke! Perfect stance and paint! Nice work!
