  1. Thanx Nigel! I get what you're saying. The Lightning moniker may have been a bit misleading. But, it's basically just a reskinned second generation Lightning.
  2. Thanx Alan! It's always cool when someone gets what I was trying to accomplish. I think it proves that old and new school can actually compliment one another.
  3. Just checked the instructions on mine and they're dated 1975.
  4. I'm thinking mid '70's. But, not sure.
  5. Yeah. Your kit is an MPC. The grille is much more accurate than the AMT counterpart. You could use the GMC hood and sand away the letters. The rear fenders from the GMC are actually more accurate than the MPC's are. I'm planning a long stepside GMC with the leftovers I have.
  6. It's sponsored by FSM. Sadly, it only has like six categories.
  7. One of the best examples I've seen of this kit! I always thought that kit came with an automatic transmission instead of a manual. I have this kit. But, never have really checked it out closely.
  8. They're both very nice! I could spend a ton of money on R/C's! That's why I don't have one. But, those really make me want one!
  9. That's a nice looking Raptor Tom! That Mica Red paint is one of my favorites. Photos don't do it justice IMO. It has to be seen in person to truly appreciate it.
  10. No problem Lee. No apology necessary.
  11. Thanx Dennis! I do my best to make these bashes look as natural as possible. Sometimes they're easy. Sometimes they're more challenging. I made a set of Moon discs that fit these wheels from the bottoms of soda cans. They totally change the look! When I get a chance, I'll temp glue them with Elmer's and snap a couple of photos.
  12. Thanx Sam! I'd love to have a full scale version myself! I'm thinking the next truck will either be a '77 F-100 or a '68 C-10.
  13. Back on this one now that my other project is done. So far, I've been working on the body getting it ready for primer. I first glued the bumpers on and filled the seams. That was a pain! Then I scribed in new panel lines where they should be. I scribed in lines around the side window trim and the top of the doors. The remaining panel lines were scribed deeper. I decided to change hoods and turn the stock hood into a cowl hood. I simply cut along the reveals in the hood, stabbed in a couple pieces of styrene, glued, puttied and sanded. It's ready for final sanding and primer now. I need to decide on a color. Kinda thinking Chrome Yellow and black interior/stripes.
  14. Wasn't meant to be. It was also the first forum I joined and for a while, it was great. But, it didn't take long for Jim Haught to single handedly ruin it. That forum has had a stigma that couldn't be excised for years. With the magazine being absorbed by FSM, it's no surprise that the forum is being absorbed by FSM also.
  15. Yep. The AMT '66 Fairlane will fit almost like it was made for it.
  16. I built one of those not too long ago. Only I changed it to a short bed using the '72 GMC parts. The AMT hood will fit. But, not as well as the MPC.
  17. So sorry for your loss Carl. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.
  18. Was there anyone who didn't see this coming?
  19. Thanx David! Since I already have a stock body '60, I thought I would take a few liberties with this one.
  20. Nice looking little roadster Ray! I really like the wheel treatment! Seems like it was just a few days ago that you were asking about ideas for this kit. But, time gets away from me pretty quick. Nice work!
  21. If I had to pick just one, it would be any year of the AMT Ford '61-'63 unibodies. There are so many different things I could do with that kit!
  22. Chris Drysdale (AKA Spex84) did one of the best examples of a bare metal finish on a Model A I've ever seen. I can't recall his method. But, it looked perfectly in scale. Hopefully, he sees this thread and drops in.
  23. Such a cool looking little street rod! Being a replica makes it that much cooler! Like Dennis, I really like all of the different parts used. But, they're put together so well, you wouldn't know it didn’t come that way. Nice work!
  24. Just finished this one up. It's a kitbash of an original AMT 1960 F-100 and a Revell '99 Lightning. This project was a lot of fun as well as challenging! It took quite a bit of work to mesh the two kits together. The most difficult part was getting the interior and firewall to work together. A lot of test fitting and modifications! The rest was pretty easy. It's basically a reskinned '99 Lightning. The Lightning provided the chassis, drivetrain, disc brakes, firewall and floor pan. The '60 provided the body, seat, dash and steering wheel. The wheels are Pegasus sleeves narrowed an eighth inch. Centers are from an AMT '62 Bel Air. Hubcaps are from a '61 or '62 F-100. Tires from the Lightning. The frame was shortened down to a 110 inch wheelbase, C notch, new shock mounts, spring perches added and the gas tank was relocated to the rear. The engine received a few details with a set of headers from a Revell Mustang Mach III. The cab and bed were separated. The bed was cut down to a short bed. The vent glass was removed. The hood got filled in front with a pie section on the sides. The grille was opened, molded in headlights removed and replaced with reflectors and lenses. Paint is Tamiya Gray Green and Racing White. Also,a big thanx goes out to Tom Geiger who kindly donated the side view mirrors from a Revell Chevy pickup. They look like they were made for it. Thanx for checking it out!
  25. That's a nice looking Monte Carlo Joel! Brings back memories of the old days when I owned an '81 Malibu. Nice work!
