  1. Thanx! It took me a while to find the right ones for it. I wanted something from that time period.
  2. That's how a vinyl top should look! Notice that the lap is barely visible. Another method that works well is to lap the paint the desired amount. It doesn't work well with white as the lap comes out a different shade. I learned that lesson on a build. It should work fine on darker colors.
  3. Best looking Turbine I've ever seen!! Love the color and wheels!
  4. Thanx guys, I appreciate the comments! To me, this generation Chevy pickup was the best looking one they made since '87.
  5. Another older build. Thinking maybe fifteen years ago. It's the old Monogram kit from around the same time. The only changes from the box are the wheels/tires and I separated the exhaust from the rearend. The paint is Dupli Color Bright Red with Tamiya clear. I remember being shocked that even after thirty plus years, the decals still worked like they should. Thanx for checking it out!
  6. Must not have done too well. They're still in circulation on ebay several years after it was issued. And for about the same price as originally. Several for less.
  7. I make my "laps" with strips of .005 styrene. Chrome trim with .020 styrene rod. Then I mask off as much of the trim as possible. When I paint, I hold the spray can a good distance (around 18-20") away and mist the paint on. This will give the roof a little texture.
  8. If you want a simple build, pick out a simple model like a snap kit or curbside. You can even turn a detailed model into a curbside. I built this model from a $5 Wal Mart toy. I learned a long time ago that every model I build doesn't have to be a show piece or impress others. It just has to make me happy. It's OK to just sit down and have fun with a model. Some of my most simple builds are my favorites.

Thanx! I'm still a big fan of them also. They made a profound impression on my young mind back in the day that still lingers. I built a few and have two or three projects in the pile.
  10. WOW! This thing has hot rod written all over it!! Everything that has been done to it has been the perfect touch! The color, wheels, engine and even the flame decals! Everything goes together just like it should! Like Phil stated, it checks all of the boxes!
  11. Carl, you don't have to build to be a member here. So, please stick around! I always appreciate your comments on my models. I'm sure everyone else does also. This place won't be the same without you. But, I understand there's more important things for you to deal with. Prayers for you and your family.
  12. Thanx Kyle! I have the interior done and ready to install. I also got the Pegasus Shuey wheels and got them modified to fit. I may or may not shoot them with a dull cote. They totally change the look of it!
  13. Now that's different! Great color choice!

Thanx! The wheel openings have been stretched. But, the quarters haven't been pulled. Has to be the reflection.
  15. Sharp as a tack!! The color and especially the wheels suits it perfect! If this doesn't make one want to build a '69 Galaxie, I don't know what would.
  16. The factory five spoke measures 20.38 mms. The custom twelve spoke measures 20.23 mms.
  17. I have a Focus Matt. I'll dig it out and measure one for you.

Thanx! No, I don't have a chassis photo. I'll take one when I get a chance and post it.
  19. Looks good so far David! I look forward to watching your progress!
  20. Nicest Hudson convertible I've seen yet! I love the colors you chose! They're perfect for the model!

This was an on again, off again build. Can't remember how many times it got stalled! I finished it a few years ago. It's a kitbash of the AMT Duster Street Machine and the '70 Super Bee Pro Street. I used the Super Bee's back half, front frame clip/suspension, engine/transmission, seats and tires. The wheels are from a Revell '57 Chevy Pro Sportsman. The engine got the intake from the Duster modified to fit. The valve covers were modified to match. I also used the ignition boxes from the Duster. The rest is just details. The interior got a roll cage added, rear seat deleted and the Super Bee's bucket seats. The body was fairly simple. I just lengthened the rear wheel wells, opened the grille, opened the door handles and made the scoops functional. Paint is Model Masters Green Go and Satin Black in the interior. The strobe stripe on the hood is painted. The side body stripe is from an MPC '76 Dart. Thanx for checking it out! Requested chassis photo.
  22. I may have a set of manifolds if I didn’t pitch them. I used the headers from an AMT '56 Fairlane on my '61.
  23. Thanx guys! I've made some decent progress. I have the chassis done. I'm debating on whether or not I want to add any details. The engine is pretty much done. I didn't add a lot of details. Just enough to make it a little more interesting. They'll be a few more added once the cab is mounted permanent. It looks pretty good resting in that sixty year old engine bay!
  24. Very nice looking Impala Steve! Being a replica of an actual car makes it that much better! Nice work!
