I like it too Carl. I was just expecting it to be a little brighter. I think it's going to be a pretty cool looking little model! Especially when I get the black accents done to it.

The Nomad has a peak in the top of the fenders that shouldn't be there. I don't know if the sedan has the same issue or not. The front end on the '56 Nomad eerily reminds me of the one on the old Monogram kits. I've always preferred the '55 over the '56 and '57.

No, they're not. Kinda weird when you look at them closely. One could cut the bumper from the AMT grille and use it if they had to. Here's a comparison photo. AMT on the left. MPC on the right. Also, note the difference in the hoods. The AMT hood looks a good 3mms taller.

Very nice looking 240Z Chang! The color really suits it well! You and I have almost the same painting method. Only difference is I usually spray three coats of paint and clear. Nice work inside and out! -
Nice looking Olds Craig! Excellent work on the dash detail! The woodgrain is very well done!

I built this some years ago. It's the old AMT kit. I built it straight out of the box. Even used the junk two piece tires! I added the kit turbo and glass pack mufflers. The paint is Krylon Ocean Breeze on the body and Dupli Color Bahama Blue on the interior. Fun little kit out of the box even if it isn't all that accurate under the hood. Sometimes it's good to let go and not sweat the details. Just build them how they were meant to be. Thanx for checking it out!

My wife had a '93 that was identical to this one. God how I HATED that car!! Running wise, you couldn't beat it. It had a four cylinder that would easily outrun the V-6. It was all of the other things that was the issue. It seemed like every other weekend I would have to work on that POS. Windows wouldn't work half the time. Couldn't keep a set of front brakes on it. If the steering wheel was turned slightly, you couldn't dim the headlights because the dimmer lever would hit the steering wheel! The odometer would run backwards as well as forward. Last straw was when the dimmer/turn signal lever broke off in my hand on my way to get yet another set of brake pads for it. I turned around, went back home, got the title and wife and traded it that day. She asked what I was going to do about the broken turn signal lever. I told her I was going to get some crazy glue, pull over in front of the dealership and glue it back on. Which I did and no one was the wiser. I was never so happy to get rid of a car! I got a couple of coats of paint on. Still not as bright as I thought it would be. I'm debating on shooting another coat before sanding it down for final paint and clear. I'm already dreading trying to paint the black and red on the body molding! I'll definitely have to use masking tape. My hands and eyes just aren't what they used to be.

First squirt of paint! I figured that Chrome Yellow would be brighter than this. But, it is what it is. As soon as this dries, I'll tape the hood on and shoot a couple of coats on the rest. Maybe then, I'll have a better idea of what it will actually look like.

Me too. If it were a 2wd with an Iron Duke/5speed and earlier grille, I'd get a couple. If I'm not mistaken, this kit has the wheels for a 4wd. As for the rest, I either already have one or have no interest in. I would have rather seen them reissue the Monogram Chevy van with or without the trailer over the Revell version. I didn't like that kit even when I was a kid! I really like the way Revell is doing the boxart now! Best of both worlds!

Nice looking GMC! This kit isn't a very good one to begin with. But, you sure made the most of it! I really like the work you did on the door panels. Did you make those?

I'll try a straight upload and see if it works.

True. But, it's the clown wheel, happy meal toy etc. comments that are unwarranted. If I stated that I hated factory stock and thought they looked like absolute garbage with their goofy wheel covers and truck tires, you and others that like factory stock would be offended. There's a lot of things I don't like. But, I choose to focus on what I do like.

I like the larger diameter wheels. Especially 18-19s. I'll go up to 23's on the rear. But, no bigger. The stance also has to be right. Larger wheels on stock suspension just doesn't look right. Something I don't like is steel wheels and hubcaps on muscle and pony cars. Especially higher end cars. The only exception is, of course, the COPO's. Anything else just makes the car look cheap. Hemi cars, Super Sports, etc. didn't come with hubcaps.

I never have been able to get an avatar to load. I always get an "add url" message after I paste the url in the box.

Are you/they spraying straight from the can or decanting, thinning? If decanting/thinning, it could be the thinner. Not too long ago, I had a bleed through issue using Tamiya primer and paint. It was the Lindberg '34 Ford pickup molded in yellow. Everything was fine until I sprayed the second coat of clear. Luckily, I had only done the hood and bed. I let them dry out, then sprayed one coat of color and one coat of clear. No bleed through. But, I didn't dare spray a second coat of clear! I always primer every part. It makes a huge difference come time to paint. The paint covers better and won't try to wick away from sharp corners/irregular surfaces found on floorpans and engines.

Too short in height. The last versions had no bowtie in the grille.
-
You'll need to get an MPC grille to go along with it.

One correction on the article: The AMT '72 Chevy didn't come from the MPC tool. It came from the '72 GMC tooling. That's why the '72 GMC can't be reissued. Steve Milberry and I had this discussion when I built my MPC '72 Chevy. If you compare the two, especially the grilles, you'll instantly see they're not from the same tooling. -
Nice looking models Cliff! The extra work you put into the Duster and Charger really makes them stand out! Nice work!

As mentioned earlier, I made a set of Moon discs to fit these wheels and stuck 'em on with a couple of drops of Elmer's glue. I really like this look! So much so, that I may leave them on it. They totally change the look of it! -

Thanx Carl! I hadn't really thought of it as a sleeper. But, it certainly qualifies!
