Here's the wheels from the Corvette. They measure .688 lip to lip. Right at a 16" wheel. If they'll work for you, send me a PM.

Thanx Bill! I don't know how accurate it will be. If it was a serious build, I'd sweat it more. But, this is just going to be simple shelf setter. This is the last time I'm making tweaks to this body. Whatever remains will remain. It's time to get it done or I'm going to lose interest and box it again. I put the trim back on and I'll have to admit that they make it look better. I also sanded the rear of the roof down a bit. All of the panel lines are scribed in. It's now ready for final primer! In this photo, you can see where I have the package tray filled and shaped to fit the new rear window opening.

Lemme check to make sure I still have it.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of those JC. I think they're in an MPC '85 Corvette. They're molded in black IIRC.

That looks really nice Tom! The engine compartment is very nicely done! I especially like the screws in bead on the rear wheels. That's a nice touch!

Yeah, I'm thinking the area above the rear window on my model needs to be rounded a little more and feathered out towards the front. I'm not going to mess with it much more though. It's just going to be a simple curbside build to stick on the shelf.

Yeah, it's the four door roof. I filled the rear door glass and cut the C pillars down. Then, filled/shaped the rear glass opening and added the trim. After viewing some more photos, it looks like I need to put the trim back on the body or add the slight peak at the belt line. I'm thinking the trim will be the easiest option. I also need to add the panel line on the front fenders.

Revell Shelby Cobra 427 S/C: Gumball Rally Movie Car
Plowboy replied to Dragonhawk1066's topic in Model Cars
Very nice looking little Cobra! That color really shows well in the sunlight! Nice work! -
No, it's a four door. I just converted this one over to a two door. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanx Scott! Round2 just recently reissued this kit as a 007 police car. It's a low parts count kit. For whatever reason, AMT stuck a Boss 429 engine in it. I've decided to go in a little different direction with this model in regards to the wheels, tires and stance. I took a set of wheels from an AMT '58 Impala, cut the axle stubs from the kit wheels and glued them to the '58 wheels. I found a set of Firestone whitewall in the stash to finish it off. I got the body back in primer. Just have a couple more touch ups to do and it'll be ready for final primer and paint. I need to get the paint for the body and a can of flat clear ordered. I have the interior color.

This thing is bad to the bone! Great work everwhere you look and a paint job that'll knock your eyes out! Doesn't get any better than that!

It's definitely got the '70s street machine look! Are those the Arii slotted mags on it?

The Revell '41 Willys gasser kits have a nice set.

Full detail frame for 75 Cutlass
Plowboy replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Here's a photo of the '83 Olds chassis under the '75. Just giving it quick look over, it looks like the wheelbase is off by 2-3 mms comparing the bodies. One could easily stretch the frame by cutting just behind the spring pockets and adding the needed amount. Might be able to use the underhood detail from the '83 also. -
Back to the 80's (aka the Bodacious Billet Build-off)
Plowboy replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in Community Builds
There's a set very similar to those in the last issue of the AMT '72 GMC. But, they're all the same deep offset. -

Seems to be a common complaint with that kit. So, it must be an issue with the styrene. -
Full detail frame for 75 Cutlass
Plowboy replied to thatz4u's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I wonder how far off the chassis from the Revell '83 Olds Cutlass would be? I have both. So, I may have to check that out. -
Slowly but surely getting there! I still have some touch ups to do. But, it's a lot closer to being ready for primer. I got the quarter windows enlarged and drip rails repaired. I noticed on both doors that there was a hump just behind the panel line. There were also humps where the rear door handles were. There was no way to fix those and save the chrome strips. So, I shaved the chrome strips and got the humps sanded down. I don't know if I will replace the chrome strips or not. The side profile looks much better with the quarter glass fixed! I got the rear glass opening fixed. Tulip and quarter panel cap panel lines added. New trunk line scribed in. I'm going to have to do some filling on the package tray. I may just glue a piece of styrene over it and shape the rear of it to match. I have to do some putty work on the inside of the C pillars and get those into shape and ready for primer. I have the colors picked out for it. Tamiya TS-1 Red Brown for the body and AS-15 Tan for the interior. I may paint the wheels in the body or interior color instead of black.

Any word on the Revell '30 Model A coupe ?
Plowboy replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When or if I ever get the desire for a '30 coupe, I'll get the Monogram kit. The top insert is right. The firewall is right. The wheelwells are right. I can build it with or without fenders. With or without a hood. I can have a stock height roof or I can chop it. So many more options with that kit. -
Thanx for the comments everyone! I appreciate it! Thanx Carl! No idea of their origin. I got them in a trade many years ago. Thinking they came from a diecast.
-
Thanx Tom! Those help a lot! If I can get mine close, I'll be satisfied with it. I'm going to have to fudge the leading trunk line forward as it's been widened and filled. I'll never get a decent line scribed in. I also have to scribe in the tulip panel and quarter panel caps lines. The more I look at the underhood area, the more I'm considering turning it into a curbside. That and I'm not looking forward to separating the top chrome strip from the grille to attach it to the hood.
-
Thanx Steve A. and Steve M.! Those helped also!
-
Thanx Rob! Those help! Is there any way one of them could measure from the top rear of the door to the corner of the quarter window? That would help a ton! Something else I noticed on the rear window is the top corners need to be rounded. If anyone sees anything wrong, please speak up! I won't get butt hurt over it! I'm not going for perfect. But, I want it to be pretty accurate as far as the body goes. I'm not going to sweat the interior much.
-
I started this project a loooong time ago! Probably close to twenty years ago! I decided to pull it out of the project pile and finish it up. After doing a bit of research, I saw that there were a couple of issues with the top. The first is the quarter windows look too small. The second is the rear window is not shaped right at the bottom. Third, the trunk line will also need to be reworked. If anyone knows or can point me in the right direction to a site that has detailed photos of a '70 Galaxie, I would appreciate it! So far, I haven't found much. So, for the moment, I'm going to have to wing it. Right now, the idea is to paint it in an ugly brown color with a darker or lighter color interior. Paint the wheels black and use the hubcaps. I'm going to make some minor improvements under the hood. I'm going to keep the Boss 429. I may or may not add details to it. Depends on how the underhood improvements turn out. Here's what it looks like currently. Any and all info on this year Galaxie will be appreciated. I would like to find a photo of a full scale similar to my second photo so that I can closer determine what needs to be done. I know it has a slight V shape at the bottom. But, I don't know how much of a V it needs.

Plowboy replied to mrm's topic in Model Cars
This has a very classy look to it! Would you mind posting a side shot? I'm very interested in those wheels! I'm thinking I need a set of proper looking wire wheels for my Phantom Vickie.
