Way cool! Unique color and nice detailing in the engine bay.

I am fortunate that I do not have to dream of a classic car. I have always had one since 1982. My cruiser of choice is a '72 Pontiac Grand Prix. They were marketed as Luxury with Performance. Unlike most muscle cars of the era, it has many comfort features optioned in. Power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power door locks (I added remotes), power driver's seat, power trunk release, rear window defroster, A/C, posi-traction, upgraded suspension, slap stick shifter and oh yeah, 455 cubes of gas guzzling power. I have also added a killer stereo with 12 speakers, 4 amps and a digital signal processor I can manipulate with my iPad. I even put in a second battery so I can jam at full tilt for two hours without running the engine. EVERY time I drive it I get thumbs up or "nice car!" from young and old.

Question on display cases

Craigslist is your best bet. -
That is purty.?

Thanks for sharing the video. It appears that his chrome base does not like lacquers but does like polyurethanes.

Sam, Thanks for the inquiry. It has moved to the back burner but not off of the stove (or back in the box). Being an HVAC tech in Oregon with a summer of Arizona weather makes for long, hard and hot days. At 60, it get worn out sooner. I am also being distracted by upgrading my killer stereo in my Grand Prix.

I too have been through the various BMF products and EZ chrome. Original Chrome was not too bad. Its flexibility was best for learning how to apply it. New Improved Chrome is the BEST! Improved shine and decent adhesion. Ultra Shiny Chrome. When my sheet was fresh, it was reasonable. As it aged the adhesive lost some of its sticking power. With enough finesse, I could get it down long enough to get some Future on it to keep it sealed down to permit handling. Unfortunately I have used up ALL 3 types that I had. I have BMF on back order at my LHS. It has been at least a month. I have hit up a couple of Hobby Stores in Portland, OR but they are out of stock. EZ Chrome is garbage. The glue is so thick it leaves impressions from whatever crevice tool or burnishing tool you use. Also the adhesive oozes out from under the edge. I have used it as masking material for a two tone paint job. The adhesive can be coaxed off an enamel painted surface with 91% alcohol. Though that would be a bad plan on lacquer. I saw some matte aluminum sheets available. Anyone have experience with laying it down and getting a decent shine through burnishing?

Two Lane Blacktop 55 Chevy

I just searched Scalemates database. No flip nose 55's. Only 57's had the flip nose. The kit that would probably be your best starting point may be the Monogram "Badman" kit and its derivatives. -
As usual, your skills and attention to detail have created quite an impressive interior. Mighty fine work there.

Thank you David.

I see you are back at it again. Thanks for sharing. I know you were following my diorama WIP. I am unsure if you got to see the finished project.

Thanks for the thread. I need to get back to my wedge build...

Chevelle knowledge needed '70 to '71
Bills72sj replied to Beans's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Be advised that the front grille/bumper of the 72 kits have some variations. The grille and headlights on the Brown Heavy Chevy matches the box art. The grille and headlights are significantly different but does not match ANY 1:1 71 or 72 grille. It is closer to a Monte Carlo grille. -
Gorgeous wagon you have presented here. Quality craftsmanship. My parents had a few wagons over the years. Blue 64 Falcon wagon with woodgrained sides that my Mom ran into the back of with her beautiful 58 Impala. Red 63 Chevy wagon with a broken rear shock mount. Cream colored 68 or 69 Chevelle wagon that gave me exhaust fumes if I rode in the back with the rear window down.

Finished these two after a long (nearly 30 year) layoff...

Great job on both. -
Very nice I like it. Are the tires box stock or parts box?
-
Nice subject well done.
-
Well done. Someday I will be brave enough to attempt one.
-
I am in agreement. The odd subjects make them very desirable after you have already obtained all the reissued mainstream kits. I just obtained an early 70's Mercury Comet. The body detail is quite nice. I have very few Jo-Han kits but want more. One of my holy grails is the Haulin' Hearse. It was one of the last models I built before I joined the Navy.

Your builds came out beautifully. Do you plan on adding any livery?
