  1. That will look gorgeous after BMF!
  2. I have learned from making my decals the key is a large image but a small print size. DO NOT reduce your image via any thing that reduces the file size. I kills the resolution. I use old school MS paint. It lets me choose PRINT size as a percentage. A couple of test prints on plain paper help me nail it down. Changing the margins for each piece of art work, permits me the option of running the same piece of decal paper through the printer numerous times. That way I just cut straight across the top and still have plenty of paper left without waste. Below is some of the decals I have made.
  3. Well done. May I suggest some suzie coils to give the pogo stick some company.
  4. I made an R/T SE by taking the roof from a resin SE and grafting it onto the yellow ERTL convertible. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/147499-1970-dodge-challenger-rt-se-special-edition/?tab=comments#comment-2166786
  5. Way cool build. Lots of unique features. Did they ever make wire wheels for that vintage semis back in the day?
  6. I built a yellow (no Paint) one in my early teens. The roof mechanism was pretty neat.
  7. Thanks. It is not as accurate as it could be. The surrounds should be kind of a cast aluminum. I did not want to mess it up trying that. I used a red ultra fine point Sharpie and colored right onto the chrome surface of the "lenses". I left the ridges between the segments chrome because they are supposed to be.
  8. I am in agreement with this plan. I am 60 working in the HVAC industry. My problem is I do not have the time or if I have the time I do not have the energy. I too look forward to retirement where I would actually get to build (not grow) my collection. I am at just under 300 kits with few duplicates. I do a bit of parts swapping with kits but not enough to make an unbuilt incomplete. I put notes in kits too for what was taken or added. As far as selling for maximum return on every kit, that is really a lot of work. It basically comes back to how much is your time worth.
  9. Nice touch with the details. I especially like the choice of whitewalls.
  10. Thank you guys. It presented some challenges along the way but I learned from overcoming them.
  11. Dang! That looks 1:1 from where I'm sitting!
  12. Sweet! I just finished my 69 Boss 429 in gold as well. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/162587-1969-boss-429-makes-its-debut/
  13. Be advised that the sheet I got was absolutely horrible. The adhesive is WAY too thick and somewhat soft. It makes the foil surface subject to dents and marring. I have relegated it to masking material duty.
  14. Very nice! I really want this kit!
  15. Very nice. Well done on both.
  16. I love how you kitbashed and scratch-built your way to an amazing result. WELL DONE!
  17. Yes, what they all said. Well done.
  18. Steve, slowly. Redoing the sides caused the fragile trim pieces around the tbs in the bed to come loose. I am having to fab new ones from I-beam Plastruct. Lots of fine tuning to get everything to fit nicely.
  19. Thanks for the update.
  20. It is a bummer to hear about the BMF issues. I had 4 sheets of various vintages and materials (apparently). Now I am completely out. I Ordered some from my LHS to "support your local businesses" but it has been on back order for awhile. I would happily pay $30 for a sheet of the "good" stuff.
  21. Amazing progress so far. I am impressed at how you keep pushing your skillset to make additional improvements.
