My younger brother owned a light metallic blue 65 Impala Super Sport. By the time that he got it in 1976 or so, it had a 350 SBC and a Powerglide. He beat on that poor car mercilessly. One of his favorite things to do was go "Drift busting" which is blasting through snow drifts before the snow plows could clear them away. You can't do that in today's cars. You would get an air bag in your face.

Most of my inspiration comes from the car magazines I have read over the decades. I like a variety of contrasting color schemes the domestic car manufacturers have come up with. Mix in a big block and some aftermarket wheels and I am good to go. With the semis, I cruise the net until I find a color scheme that I think I can pull off and go with that. I am happy that there are so many color choices out there to be creative with.

I like both of them. The first I would buy. The second is way cool but likely beyond my skillset. -
I have moved models a couple of times since they were built. I too used to roll them up in newspaper, fold and tape the ends over the trunk and hood. Pack them snugly into a large box that no one else was allowed to touch. Since i rarely attach side view mirrors they were not and issue. The paper wrapping keeps any parts that do dislodge from being misplaced as long as you are the one unwrapping them. Semi trucks with mirrors, antennas and mudflaps take much more care and require that they ALWAYS are maintained "This side up" and NOTHING is stacked on top of them. When I hauled my hot rod on a trailer on our cross country move, the semis rode in the trunk of the car to keep them away from everybody else's stuff and made sure I was the only one handling them.

Thank you all for your compliments.

Thank you all for the kind words.

I just ordered one from MEGAHobby for $64.94 with shipping. I tried to get two but got an alert message that said they did not have the inventory. I wanted one really bad but was having heartburn over the $100+ prices from scalpers on ebay.

Thank you gentlemen.

That turned out SWEET!!!

I am with Steve and Tom here. Kits of new subjects would be awesome. The fact that this hobby has survived from toys for kids in the 60's to multiple subjects for adults today is amazing in itself. The volumes required to satisfy a profitable business is the biggest challenge for kit makers. I like that they do various options on many kits as it motivates many of us to purchase them more than once.

"Basement" that's funny. Actually the Mustang on the left just got photographed today.

Here is a link to the finished product.

It is finally finished. I took my diorama outside to take advantage of using sunlight for pics. I was very patient with assembly so it came out pretty well. This was my very first time I fabricated aluminum hoops for the rims. I would like to thank Bob Hall for some parts donations and Steve G. for his amazing examples of what is possible if you try. Below is the link to the WIP. Comments welcome. ? http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/156212-1969-boss-429/

To help make decals work better do these things. Add one drop of dish soap to the puddle of water you soak your decal in. It will give you much more time to slide it around into perfect alignment. Use white vinegar and a cotton swap to clean and wet the surface of the model just before you place it. Use the same swab to gently push it around. Use the dry end to gently wick up the moisture from the decal once placed.

Well done!

Very nice. I like the color. I just finished a 69 Boss 429.

Nice builds. Where did you get the rear wings for the Goats?
-
DANG!!!!! If any of those were photographed in a scale setting with as much realism as Steve's models you could fool a lot of people into believing they are the genuine article!

I have the 2011 reissue of the plated Texaco tanker. I trade off the Texaco decal set for an AMOCO decal set. It is waiting for my skillset to get better so I can make a decked out "Bling" truck paired with the Australian KW in Testors Start Spangled Blue lacquer.

Very nice result. I bought a set of Hurst Olds decals many moons ago to do a 74 Cutlass H/O. I really need to get one of these.

Very nicely done. I need to add that kit to my wishlist.
