AMT White-Freightliner Window Mods
Bills72sj replied to Chevy II's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you are wanting open side windows, I would just cut the windshield section out from the whole thing. After that, you will have plenty of material for numerous attempts at wing windows. Or.... You can make wing windows from any clear plastic packages that can be intercepted from your household trash. -
Nice build, nice color, following.

1977 Olds Cutlass from 3D print from Too Many Projects

Glad to see you on this again. Nice chrome on the bumpers. I shot my very 1st chrome today on my Big Girl Pontiacs. My 74 H/O is still on the bench. All I have left is engine assembly and front wheels. -
I am pretty sure I saw it at a drive-in too in the 70's my Dad was a car guy. We did the Drive in frequently as it is cheap entertainment when you have 4 kids. I have seen it on TV a few times since. Gotta love that Charger.

Interesting project. Do you have colors selected?

A REALLY rear engine Corvair - unsafe at any depth!

I admire your imagination AND your craftsmanship. -
Well done! I love the Orange Shelby and the Metallic brown Pick em up.

Very impressive. Good job expanding your skillset.

Those Zingers look like a bit a fun.

That's easy, you fog a whole can of light gray from 3ft away. I love the detail with the electrical conduits and the air drops. The "dirty" door is a nice touch. I am sure you are not done, but the roll-up door needs tracks and some sort of spring set up.

I really dig the 3 purple ones.

Great job. I love that Chevelle. (68 Malibu was my 1st car). Curious color choice on the jeep.

Yep, Rustoleum Gloss black enamel. Cured for 2 weeks give or take. I skipped the black on my Fireball door handles. Bad idea. It did not "shiney up" straight over grey resin.

Save on sandpaper AND have precise control.

I would avoid water based acrylics. While absolutely safe for your decals, I would be concerned about adhesion to super smooth bare plastic. Many decals are clear coated with enamel clear. Clear lacquers that are "hot" may let their solvents reactivate the enamel coating and wrinkle the decals. Clear enamels designed for models would be the first one to try. I would experiment with parts box pieces and decals that are on the sheet but not to be used in your finished product.

I was looking for a way to sand some ridges out of the paint on my 67 Shelby with painted stripes. Folded sandpaper is awkward to hold and sand with fine control. What I needed was a 1:25 scale "long board" sanding block. I figured out how to accomplish all these criteria in one fell swoop. 1" long chunks of Plastruct 7/16" I-beam. Various grades of sandpaper cut into 1" squares. Office supply binder clamps (small size) Simply assemble and sand away. They provide very precise control of what you are sanding. The binder clamps hold the sandpaper securely for you. The size fits very comfortably in your hand. It does not "unravel" when you let go of it. If you mark the clamps like I did, you know what grit you are grabbing. I added mini magnets on my light fixture to always have them at the ready. Using just 1" squares at a time will let your sandpaper go a long way.

Made some progress finally. Fabricated 3 consoles which took about 3 weeks of free time. I got them in chrome paint today. Also fabricated the two 356hp Tri Power air cleaners with parts box pieces and some aluminum tubing.

Front bumper smoothed and painted with Green Stuff World "chrome" paint. It is not "kit" chrome but it is pretty nice.

1964 Pontiac 4 Barrel Intake Manifold.
Bills72sj replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know all 3 of my AMT 65 Big Girls 4BBL intakes are pretty lame. I have most every year GTO and some 71-72 Grand Prixs. My Firebird collection is pretty sparse. If you discover which one will work for you, I will see if I have it and send it your way. Since I am generally a Day Two builder, I tend to use the optional intakes. (Tri-Power, blower, injector stacks etc.)
