  1. I'm starting my big reorganizing effort tomorrow... I'm both looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time. I have to do something though, I'm in complete disarray and its hindering productivity big time. My desk stays fairly clean/organized but the rest of the room is chock full of model and guitar stuff... It's MADDENING!!
  2. This little wound here... I was cutting a tire away from a rim on a glubomb... I wanted the wheels but they had been glued solid into some really bad tires. So whilst attempting the cut the #11 slipped and went strait across my finger to the bone. It sucked...
  3. 90% alcohol can remove testors enamels also in some cases... I used it (unintentionally) to remove some testors black from an engine part earlier this week... I was pissed!
  4. If it is just round guages I use a drop of either clear high gloss varnish or future. If its something more square you may have to cut some clear acetate or cellophane to put in place as a lense.
  5. I can only hope lol.
  6. Yea I thought about that kit pretty intensely, but the figures won me over... I really wanted the "deluxe" kit with photo etch... but that was extremely hard to find and at insane prices. I'm gonna try and paint my stripes... we will see how it goes.
  7. Tom, I had styrene on the brain... sorry lol!!
  8. Thanks I appreciate the insight... bout to order one up.
  9. Wich makes the better kit of the 959, Tamiya or Academy? I have no experience with either but I need a 959 to build... trying to pick the better option. Thanks for all advice in advance.
  10. I contemplated just going with only a volume control... but then I would have basically 2 of the same guitar. As this one is exactly as you describe... only addition being a kill/stutter switch. This one has a Duncan 59 a volume control and the stutter switch and that's it. I wound up going the "Esquire" route only because of the pearly gates pickup can get harsh under certain circumstances so I wanted to have the ability to tame the treble and midrange right on the guitar so I don't have to fool with amp/pedal etc... If it had been a JB or 59 (what I usually use) I would have just went with the volume control as I find those pickups to be extremely responsive to just volume adjustment. Simpler is better imo... less to go wrong and more importantly less to overthink. Heck I think one of my favorite guitars is a old LP jr I have with a single p90... you gotta squeeze the tone out of it, but I kinda like that, it makes me work and its raw!
  11. A couple coats of Duplicor (clear) adhesion promoter (allow to fully dry) and follow with some primer... should do the trick. So I would imagine.
  12. Did you paint or decal those stripes? I'm about to attempt the same build and would love to know.
  13. Those are impressive! I would call into question where you chose to put the exhaust tips on the mustang.... something just looks off about to me... but otherwise it as well of the rest are BEAUTIFUL.
  14. So, you are telling me that for literally years now you could have been sending me all the unwanted stuff people been giving you? Why didn't I join this forum sooner?!!! Anytime you need my addy... it's yours and I pay postage (or freight) LOL!!
  15. Thanks man I appreciate it... it came from a kit also. The idea came to me while playing the game. I made my own pickups for that one also... I dubbed them "atomizers" to fit the theme... they are similar to a vintage tele pup with a bit more midrange and slightly more output. I also built this one (not from a kit)...painted it Coral Red even though the color doesn't show good on here, it is really a salmon like color. I believe the paint code was for a 50's ere Volkswagen if I remember right. I wired it up Esquire style except I used a Pearly Gates humbucker... so the selector goes Position 1: Humbucker and volume... no tone circuit. Position 2: Humbucker with tone circuit Position 3: Humbucker with an extra Russian .33uf capacitor and a resistor... so the tone control can do some wild stuff over its sweep. Here she is.
  16. Strange glitches going on here... bizarre!!! I couldn't post at all for a bit... weird!!!
  17. For some reason for the past few days sometimes I can't post... I immediately get redirected to a message about how the GLS photos got botched somehow... then after a few attempts the site will basically just lock up and give me 403... and all that jazz for a few hours before I can even load the sight again. Super frustrating. Is this something that usually happens or is it an anomaly? Has anyone else experienced this?
  18. That's a nice chair Steve... the woman clearly cares about your back! (And perhaps your ability to work, lol) A new (good) chair would be a great thing in my model room... I got one for Christmas a few years back, but it really doesn't cut the mustard.
  19. I scored pretty decent I think... List of what I got. Polar lights 66 batmobile kit with resin figs. New pants, shirts, socks, house slippers and PJ's/modeling pants. $280 in cash, a $25 Amazon giftcard (kitcard lol) two $25 Visa's and a few scratch off tickets where I won another $20. Then I got a $50 card to the Honeybaked ham store. I also got a fire extinguisher to keep in my car. Yea I'd say I pretty much lucked out! Next few days there's gonna be some stuff purchased for sure!
  20. No issue at all... like Dan said, just be sure and ground the bridge well. If it's one of the cheaper diy kits you find on Amazon and the likes... the bridge plate itself is gonna need to have the backside sanded down to get past the usually very thick plating so you can make a good solder joint. Also, be sure that your control cavity is deep enough for a quarter inch cable BEFORE you drill the hole!! Sometimes the less expensive kits have bodys that aren't standard thickness and are much thinner... so you could definitely run into a depth issue! Just test fit. Also... unless you are using angled jack plugs you are gonna put stress on both the cable and the control plate screws over time. Nothing like ripping the guts outta your axe on stage... (ask me how I know) I built this Tele from a kit and it turned out exactly how I wanted for the most part.
  21. I would post up my stash, but that is a fair amount of work. But my stash only has maybe a little over 100 kits in it.... alot is armor and figures and other military stuff. I'd say I have maybe 80 car kits? I'm honestly not sure. The collections displayed here have turned me into the green eyed monster!!! Lol!!
