Ambisious project! As Noblng said, the meng kit is closer in size to what the JL (JLU) is. The wrangler grew allot from the TJ model you have to the JK body style that the Meng kit is of. And then from the JK the size remained but everything changet do the JL(JLU as your son have). The changes in between the JL and the JK are almost as big as between TJ and JK. Not many parts are the same just the overal "looks" of it as was the same with the TJ exept for the width change that hapened betwen TJ and JK. There is a thread on here some where about that kit, seems detailed even though it's curbside. Alot of parts ?

Good input on those ´57 chevy kits that are out there, and i will defenitly keep it in mind when i want to get a `57 since they are good looking cars. I can agree with all of you that any pice of plastic can be made into a great looking build if you got the skills and have the patience to work out the problems, I am not saying that the AMT kit mentioned have those, but some kits really need work and skill to make them look decent, and look good, even more so. I can get the autors point, if one is used to modern kits, its hard to work with an old kit that have been released in several versions over the last 60 years with al the problems the molds gets over time. Never the less how some people express them self might leave some things to ask for. Speaking for my self, I am not in the same level as many of you on this site, even though i grew up building AMT and Revell kits, I did not build any other kits for many years due to my interest in Americana and availibility on kits here. But i still have a really hard time picking up the old kits and making anything out of them, and so far i have not found a MPC kit that i want to work on. I remember when i bought my first Tamiya kit how I enjoyed how they built and how good the fit and finished product always came out. Never the less if you want a certain car to build there is usaly not that many options in make of the kit exept for the realy classic cars of course. This is just my two cents and I feel a little baad for the guy starting the topic since it feels like some people here really jumped on him even though the topic is what it is and it was started in the way it was. I know this forum for being an open and friendly community and hope it to continue in that way ?

Nice to se one getting built! It’s a real pitty that both the AMT and the Revell kit is hard to build and need a lot of attention to be built and represent the 1:1. I will be following! Keep it up! Edit: dug my Revell out.. chassi is not to bad bent and sow on at least

*Model Car Preference*
Mattilacken replied to Zippi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting thread. I tend to be interested in building cars that are not stock I can enjoy a stock looking car but it does not tickle me to build one. I like most cars as long as they have or can have that extra to interest me, aperance, stance and attitude I guess is what I look for. I love American Iron, some 50’s models but mostly 60-‘20s muscle cars. I also love European and Japanese cars with the same criteria’s. I think I have ideas on almost al my kits for mods, body changes and definitely wheels. I believe any engine can be cool but it needs that interesting part ? I am no big fan of super cars but would love to build a Paganini some time since they are so interesting in al their details! I have one “super car” in the stash even though that’s more of a GT car, the Aston Martin DB9, and for this one the plans are stock looking but some changes to suit my taste.. wheels for example I haven’t decided for. -
What New (Modeling) Technique Did You Try Today?
Mattilacken replied to Snake45's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I learn so many tricks and techniques here al the time but I tried one today, instead of putty I used CA glue and sanded it to fill some gaps. Worked great!
