Started on this Revell 90s issue of the Miss Deal and started by removing most of the chrome plating. The engine block had gaps as well as the intake, and I dont even know where to start talking about the way the headers fit?. I know its old technology so I work around such things, but why do model companies make chrome parts that need to be joined. This will be mostly done just like the box art.....kind of.

Perfect build. One of the nicest all round T bolt builds I've seen.

Tamiya TS-60 Pearl Green shot over Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf and Tamiya Matte White primer.

"CA" I believe stood for Calumet.

Jimmy Flintstone 59 Buick Camino. As far as resin goes it was one of the easier ones to do. Most of the time was spent on glass and interior fit, the detail trim was good and was easy to Bare Metal foil.I wanted the look of a 60s style build but held back on using any decals.

59 Buick Camino resin
BIGTRUCK replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
There was a slight sag at the rear roof line that needed the hot/cold water treatment before painting. When I decided on colors I wanted something in green but not dark. The interior was done with thinned "Cockpit green" with a slightly darker cockpit green accents on the panels and some on the dash and some Ivory white to break it up. The bodies final primer coat was a flat white, then 2 mist coats of Silver Leaf and the final color is Pearl Green. I thought maybe a little Clear Pearl gloss, but am afraid it wont look right with interior. Used a hole punch to make backer plates for the tail lights, If remember right the lights are from the AMT 50 Ford. Back on hold again with this one while paint cures. -

Got my focus back on this Buick and made up some rear lights, and I needed to break up the long area behind the roof and tried a few ideas with some custom parts.. Interior pretty much done. When using the 59 chevy el camino glass it needs to be split into 2 pieces, front and back. Leaving it in 1 piece just didnt work on the body I have, and I got the roof inside sanded pretty thin, rear glass bottom edge needed some work to fit close too. -

Wow...very cool build. From start to completion how long did this build take? -
Tried another save on the rare MPC BedBuggy. Picture #1 is what I started with...Made up a new chassis as the original was pretty sketchy, tires and wheels are parts box. Bed pattern was hand painted to look like tiger skin. The rest is repaired kit parts. The brass plated items were in good shape. Glad to have a good set of Woodlites (headlights) as those are pretty rare. Im glad I tried the save rather than part it out ..A big thanks to Fordf-100 for the showrod trades.

I lost all interest in other builds until I complete this one or because of it being so fragile I give up but things seem to be moving along pretty good. I gave up on the idea of using the AMT parts pack chrome Corvair motor and decided to rebuild the kit original one. The fragile part comes in when every part you put on seems to hold on the next part. For the motor I located 6 new intake stacks, new belt and water pump. Changed front and rear glass made from red and clear sheet plastic. The sea chest is the fuel tank. Decided to paint the tiger stripes ( or as close as I could ) rather than use the paper copy on the bed. Still a long way to go, I have a baggie of brass coated stuff to go on.

This is starting to look like it suppose to. I found some print for the bed but not sure which one I like better. The pillows came out OK with a coat of fuzzy fur. The tire wheel combo is final.

Chassis pretty much done, sectioned in the area to lift up the suspension tower. (orange item) Now with a solid foundation I can move on. You can see how sketchy the old frame is.

Time to save another kit from the parts heap. What really makes this one somewhat harder is everything is thin and brittle from all the glue, but the curious thing is almost all the brass plated parts are in pretty good shape. Once I got in apart I grabbed the instructions from a good kit , made a copy and started a check list of what I needed. Some parts like the headlights are unique to this kit as I only saw them in one other MPC kit The Mail Truck showrod and the unique buggy headers are there and the lantern tail lamps too , so pretty much everything else I need does not need to be exact. I have an AMT Corvair partspack motor if this ones to far gone, tires and wheels are parts box, but a new frame needs to be built, this old one will give up 2 mounts and retire. I found a leopard print on the web and printed a sheet, (may try to find a tiger print) the pillow chairs can be cleaned and covered in fuzzy fur . New red glass from clear red plastic sheet.

Nice looking '56 , I really think those colors need to be together .

Im not sure if it can really be called a gasser because of the wheelbase is short but I did one anyway? Built curbside with very little chassis detail, actually hardest part was making and mounting the rear glass. Tamiya Yellow and Brite White for color , chassis parts , tires, wheels and a few other items are parts box. Front wheels from "vintagedragcrazy". Uhoh put it under the wrong title, please move?

Got the interior and 90% of the chassis completed. Started on the BMF , but its not bad foiling this one, I switched back to "chrome" instead of the "bright- chrome " I was using. Once the body gets all chromed up I need to start cutting and fitting for windows.

Not only was the trade with Ford f100 (Phil Sparano) a perfect trade but he also sent me the 2 pcs I needed to complete my showrod ,the shower head and left rear sconce. The other trade that went smooth as usual was with bismarck ( Kevin Little) this was a huge trade, biggest I have ever made. Thanks to both of you , your stand up friends. Ken

Looks super, a very clean build, love that shifter knob and that dash. Nice work.
