  1. Never would know its a junk box build. Bravo... nice work Tom.
  2. Thanks, and good luck on yours Izzy it does make a nice shelf piece.
  3. The rear area with gurney mocked up and ready for primer / paint. For the gurney I chose to try my hand at making my own so first I borrowed the main part of the Johan ambulance gurney and made a clay mold. I had bought a few bottles of amazing resin "A" and "B" and made the main bed. Mounted that on some evergreen plastic, made the pillow from epoxy. Tires are evergreen plastic cut with a paper punch and glued 3 to make 1 tire. The main side rails are made from ,if I remember right , roof rails from 55 Chevy wagon .Found a few more items for effect in the back.
  4. This is a cool project, very nice indeed.
  5. Same here Vince...
  6. Got the interior rear floor area how I need it to be and did a quick mock up and on this time I'm going to build a simple gurney using the Johan Ambulance gurney as a guide, I cut out the size it will be and have it on the floor for fit. Built the partition and found some other goodies that will work.
  7. Looks good . It always brings a smile when I see one built.
  8. Roof mods 95% done, some touch up here and there then start engine and chassis. Added side and rear gutters at new roof line.
  9. I love the Light Pearl Red paint on old hotrods like 32 Fords but I never used it on a full interior 60s car and cant seem to find a color combo I'm happy with. I know white works but need to break it up, tried light purple / white, grey /white and buff tan /white. Now its soaking again I want to try body color/ white.
  10. I think this is a great idea for something built outside the box. Alot of detail can be put into this and look super.
  11. The side board pin location gives me the option to use both. Final color will be Pearl Light Red , it looks almost like a very light purple. The silver is just the undercoat.
  12. Being retired now is awesome ,I can actually start something and finish it. Waiting for paint to cure on another project I dug out the Revell 66 Suburban and will convert it into an ambulance using the "Three Inches Under" high roof conversion. Revell made this pretty easy by leaving the roof skin off the kit. This one will take some time and it will not be a replica of any actual department. The resin piece has a few pinholes and thin in one area, it needs some clean up to fit snug and once its on , the body and roof will need some lines smoothed so it looks like it belongs. It also has some driver overhead detail .None of these issues would be something thats a deal breaker.
  13. I been in this hobby on and off since the 60s and can honestly say I have never built this kit. It can be done many ways.
  14. I had to eliminate the rear chassis area and redo with flat plastic. The items molded in were in the way of the tail pipes, then added a new gas tank. Went with a resin front bumper/grille and added headlamp visors. All my problems started with these tires and wheels being so deep, but I do like them. The ride height is final.

    Miss Deal

With all the little quirks this old tool kit has its still a great kit and builds up well with a little help. The decals in my kit had a tan colored film on them from age. Used a few drops of Dawn dish soap in my decal water and along with decal set they came out fine except the "Chrysler Powered" ones. Only additions I made was remove most of the chrome add green windows, green headlights and a chute pull.
  17. Waiting on the clear to cure on Miss Deal I can continue this Ranchero, since I dont really do things stock I thought I would see how far I could get this one down and I was going to use the bed cover which would have made life easy by cutting the tubs out, but I went with side boards ( the mock up close to what I'm looking for)so I had to redo the molded in rearend, plus going with Pegasus Sovereign tire/wheel combo didnt help. Made a windshield visor that actually fit nicer then I thought it would. Small hood scoop, custom tail lights, skirts, long tail pipes, and resin rear bumper. I'm heading towards it being a mild custom shop truck.
  18. I was determined to get these to work and for the most part (and an adaptor I cobbled up for both sides) it came out fine. I cleared the body early today, should all be completed by the weekend. Never saw one in gold, looks good.
  19. Chassis completed everything fits well after a few alterations. The headers are are good as they will ever get. Found a parts box shoulder harness and made up a lap belt . Dash detail was pretty weak so just added a few guage decals. Painting the body should be straight forward Miss Deal colors.
  20. With the cost of a kit it makes good sense to get some of your modeling fix by saving a kit. Looks good from all angles.?
  21. Good job, some great old history saved.?
  22. I heard (dont quote me)AMT brought one out first , so the plan changed to Miss Deal.
  23. Yes Ray and Tom I almost aborted the idea of these 5 piece headers. Everything indicates they stay inside the frame rails, but the box art on the side of the box and the body cut-outs said over the rail but they still didnt hit the spot right where they needed to be . I made a little attachment out of a piece of Evergreen plastic angle and will paint it the block color, when tucked in you wont notice it. They are still away from the exact area on the body but I'll take it. With seam lines and mold lines fixed up its time for paint.
  24. Started on this Revell 90s issue of the Miss Deal and started by removing most of the chrome plating. The engine block had gaps as well as the intake, and I dont even know where to start talking about the way the headers fit?. I know its old technology so I work around such things, but why do model companies make chrome parts that need to be joined. This will be mostly done just like the box art.....kind of.
  25. Perfect build. One of the nicest all round T bolt builds I've seen.
