  1. This one is pretty much done just need to put on the spotlights and round mirror. Its not a fancy or hard to get kit, it just another abandoned kit that got new life, and I have a few kits I abandoned that I need to get finished one day. Chrome foiled interior
  2. Now thats cool stuff, those little things make the build stand out, I have not seen much of your work lately but great work as always.
  3. I thought about a black primer finish but I think shooting Tamiya gloss black with a dull coat top coat has a better look. Interior is white and black satin finish with a candy red dash,. I was leaving the red rims until I found these old spinner hub caps. A little bit of chrome should break up all the black. This is the final ride height , plus I have everything to get it done now.
  4. Thanks all for the comments, and yes the headlights will be set back.
  5. After cleaning up the body and sanding the filler I stacked up some evergreen and formed a new hood ornament. Using the Hudson visor as a template I made a visor for the Ford. Also smoothed tail light area and added bullet shaped lenses.
  6. I was looking for some parts in a big bin and came across three 49 Ford bodies in various stages of junk. I found enough parts to build something. The best unmolested body had so much paint you could barley see the door lines. I soaked all 3 in Super Clean, the paint on the red one with the altered roof never budged, the grey one cleaned up but the body was cut up. The heavy painted Ford came out pretty good but was missing the fender wells , so I cut the firewall / fender wells out of the grey one. Altered the interior tub to fit in the 56 T-Bird V-8, and this is the outcome so far.
  7. Need to get a few uprights then add the surf boards
  8. Great looking slots, alot of thought and work went into them.
  9. Merry Christmas...
  10. Merry Christmas Elvin..
  11. Merry Christmas Kerry..
  12. Moving along on this one but being careful handling the chassis , items are fragile in the suspension area
  13. This Surf Woody Kit Im using is the Buyers Choice issue [2003]and not the last one issued [2015] I want to do the roadster version but they only put two narrow blackwalls for the front and two monster sized slicks for the rear. I used some round 2 whitewall slicks and parts box whitewalls for the front. Buyers Choice tire on the right, one i'm using on the left. The rest I will use kit parts.. Pretty much everything on the chassis so far is delicate, items can break pretty quick, also the oil pan is 2 pieces , left and right and chrome , it has a noticeable seam down the middle and fit issues ,so I sanded it to look even and painted it engine color. Some chrome items with flash or a heavy sprue marks cannot be touched up with a Molotow pen.
  14. Modified Jimmy Flintstone box turned into a paddy wagon
  15. I cant take this kit anymore. Ive spent more time repairing parts that are warped and narrow or heavy and hang upside down and attach to the glass. Its the millennium issue not the last issue . This is as far as I got and still have not touched the back half yet, so back in the box , back on the shelf and on to something else. I am totally surprised I never launched it off the deskMaybe another day in the future the Space Taxi will re-appear, till then its out of business.
  16. Ah yes the old Checker Marathons, they were like a tank?
  17. I built one last year and found out you need to do alot of pinning of parts on. The design of this kit is sketchy at best, but it came out alright. Vince aka vintagedragcrazy sent me the Sponge Bob. Good luck with yours and glad to see another one being built
  18. Thats a great looking AMX , sharp color and workmanship.
  19. Since the interior had some dirt and wear and the engine bay too, the shiny body paint just looked out of place, so out came the Tamiya weathering set. I also cut out the driver side rear window to view backseat area. Masked off wiper track and shot some dull coat on windshield.
  20. Yes thats very cool, the driver gives it the right touch.
  21. I went to a local toy and model show Sunday and the place was packed . prices were really reasonable on the items I did buy . The 58 Ford was skirted and door handles shaved and the paint was really heavy and chrome weak but for 20 bucks it cleaned up good enough to do something with ...also 2 Johan wagons, a 61 Dodge resin kit with original glass tossed in, 67 Corvair , Bobby Allison Monte Carlo and 2 beater Ala Karts for $4.00 for parts.
  22. I had this Amtronic kit since 1999, thought about building a futuristic ambulance or hearse but decided on a futuristic space taxi since I was in the final stages of another taxi build. All the wheel flaps fold, front tires raise and lower and canopy operates up and down. Im building the front half complete and then start on the passenger rear section.
  23. Got the interior and engine bay completed, added plastic garbage bag hanging from dash, drivers side seat cool air cushion a flyswatter and tissue in box..also even though the interior was shot with dull coat it still held a shine so I worked some weathering shades on the entire interior/engine bay. I was painting the window trim semi gloss black and got off track in an area ......lets say it went bad quick..I had none of the yellow Tamiya left, my local hobby shop was out of that shade so into the fresh vat of Super Clean. Re paint is now a darker yellow / orange Tamiya TS56 , in a week we'll try again..
  24. Very cool classic build .
