  1. First completed build in awhile and it feels good to get it done. Started with a 1921 J/F resin body, borrow some parts from a few kits, scratch build a few items and put it all together. Race of Gentlemen
  2. The body painted Tamiya AS23, yellow satin on wheels, flat black on everything else. Once paint was cured I lightly rubbed through the paint with an old polishing sheet of 3600 and started adding various Vallego washes and metalizers. This step takes awhile doing small sections at a time so not to smear finished areas. Wheels are on loose just for stance , still need to add drums and steering rod. Side exhaust pipe added., thinner roll bar added
  3. I have a bunch of these showrod kits and enjoy buiding one once in awhile. That S'cool bus is looking great, I like the 2 tone.
  4. I like building those older show rod styled kits too,. Looks really good so far.
  5. Got paint last week, will have paint on by Sunday, between 12 hour work days and wife wants living room and dining room painted (Happy wife Happy life)Summer was not good for getting much building time in, lots of buying but building not so much.?
  6. Door frames look much thinner
  7. Its brittle and you have to be cautious when sanding. Thanks for the comments
  8. This is pretty much the final mock up. I changed the driver for one that fit better and went with bigger rear tires,. The bottom 3 pictures are where Im going with this build. ..Race of Gentlemen beach race.
  9. Looks to be a good one Tom.
  10. Jeff its good to see your work again, thats gonna be one great looking build when your done .Dont let the steer axle or fuel tanks get you flustered. The thing about custom builds is it your ideas ,done your way.. Keep up the great work..
  11. Chris that Lago build up is nice looking, that tire/ wheel combo , are those kit items?
  12. Got the frame tucked inside the body, front axle and rear axle mocked in and tires / wheels spaced out. Interior is just a small dash a, seat and driver. Next get everything in primer and remove the chrome off the front wheels
  13. Thats really nice looking, I know you had to have some fun building it..
  14. I bought a J/F resin body and gathered up all the parts to start this project. Since all I had was the body I needed a chassis. The body measured 4 3/8 long 1 3/16 at its widest point and 1 1/16 at its tallest point, so the frame had to be on the smaller side.I will be using the rails and rear end from a Lindberg 1928 Lincoln Sport Touring 1/32nd kit and cross members from an old Cobra beater. The tires , dash with wind screen, steering wheel and wire wheel inserts are from a Merit Lago-Talbot kit 1/24th, , driver was parts box [maybe Revell] front axle and tie-rod are AMT 34 Ford and seat from IMC Ford "Indy" Lotus all 1/25th, floor is just flat stock cut to fit, roll bar and pipes are parts box. ' A more simple way to go about this build would be to use all the frame parts from a 27 Ford kit, but why take the easy road..
  15. I check the vintage also Bill, usually starting on newly listed buy it now and searching from that point, right now there is a vintage lot of builders listed today for buy it now 26.95 or best offer with free shipping from China with the typical seller info cm66307800063-5 (0 .. they do try
  16. Strange Ebay handles, "0" feedback and a China location, along with great "buy it now " with free shipping on high dollar kits are common place of late. I wonder if it has invaded other types of auctions on Ebay like toys or sporting goods etc..
  17. A few new kits a few weeks ago I got this complete old Hawk dragster kit maybe 1/24th scale and 1 more DG Production truck
  18. Mike it was boxed and inside the plastic bag when I got it.I have seen the yellowed dull ones before.
  19. Bought both of these old tool boats but only this one came in Hess motorhome and this bucket truck,
  20. One of the ingredients is Lye,
  21. This batch did many clean-ups, it was never strained of paint sediment just put the tupperware lid back on. I left it open for about 2 months and I found this. Its mushy with a crust top on it and had 3 inches of Super Clean, now has 3/4 inch of crud. Make sure its covered when your done , mine would have lasted longer...., and wear gloves
  22. Ive also been a long time member here [2006] and have met many members at different swap meets that I met first on this forum . .Even met a few members from other countries..
