This build is still chuggin' along, but along way from done. The front sat high , so even though I had all new front suspension parts I opted for a '40 Ford front axle to bring it down some. Next I have to mask the body and rear doors and add the metallic blue , then go back remask the body and add the red metallic to the roof. I rattle can the white and metallic red but using the airbrush on the blue areas

Got the Tbird in color, although its a mild custom Im not putting on the big skirts as they would hide 60% of the black paint, once the black dries I'll lay down the clear. The interior is a dark charcoal base but I'll add white and black also.To finish it up I will add all interior and exterior foil and chrome items.

Great news Vince, Im happy for you and the family.... I think Ive watched just as many cartoons when the grandkids come over as I did when I was younger, just cartoons are much different then I remember, no rabbits ,ducks or talking mice...Enjoy them all Vince..?

Now thats really cool, kinda like if Santa had a show rod..

The engine block being chrome was pretty ugly with glue marks and didnt look any better with the chrome removed. I thought about what Chuck Most said about the '29 Ford Woody / pickup [ Thanks Chuck for the heads up on the '29 ] and not only were the fenders and all suspension parts the same but lo and behold it had the same engine in bright shiny new chrome,

Pretty crazy looking project, should look really cool when complete.

Best to you Mike, Im sure you'll enjoy not working sooner or later, like all of us , you work so long it can be hard to accept that much change all at once , .You may have to trick your mind that its always saturday for a while.?

Try to stay pretty close to original look.

I really like the tire wheel combo you used on yours ,the MPC kit wheels are ok but I dont like the kits tires The angora style carpet looks wild .Your entire build looks great..

I bought this last year , got it all apart and paint removed. Some parts have glue smudges and I broke one spindle but all fixable. I was also fortunate to score a Billy Gooche decal set for it also last year. Was this kit ever released as any other show rod or re released as Mail Truck? It needs some more clean up but easy work. I had bought one and then forgot where I put it. Now its found and I have to try it out. I think Al's Hobby Shop closed its doors a few years ago , so applicator has been lost for a while. -
Getting back to this build...I located some original glass for the '60 hardtop and ran the scriber thru all the door , trunk and skirt lines to get the build up of old paint out. Made a set of fender sights, locating a good original pair just wasn't happening.Only custom items are spots , rear tail lights, wheels and a set Goodyear poly glass tires.Used top axle holes for ride height, Primer it all up tomorrow and paint it 2 tone Tuxedo black and white this week. The interior Im not sure on colors or color. Hope to get it foiled up before years end.

No its kit chrome..

It was a busted up new kit when I got it, but with a little cutting, shaping and pulling it came out ok, I made some money bags and used die-cut letters for truck numbers. The kit is actually a small bank with the top gun turret being a coin slot and the back door the vault opening.

I think its an '' it is what it is '' kit. Its a 1/24th scale kit but if you start introducing 1/25th scale medium duty truck parts in the mix you will see the body is on the small size.

Chassis done,, not much to it or the interior, besides its all covered up by green glass. Drilled out the header pipes and used ''Detailer'' on the steps.

Paint on and dry, not much to this kit. Should get it done this weekend.

Good modeling products

I never knew about this product, thanks Bill -
I bought some Tamiya thin liquid glue and love this stuff, it cost the same as Testors at Hobby Lobby. Testors , although I dont have a problem with the glue itself, they changed the applicator from a metal needle point to a plastic spout, I didnt like the change. Tamiyas brush applicator for me is perfect in size and easier to use. Tamiya 40 ml vs Testors 29.5 ml Another great item from Tamiya is this panel scriber. Scribes out a plastic curl each time with an easy touch, found for under 9 bucks shipped on E-bay . Two thumbs up for these items..
