  1. If its on St Charles , south side of street, pretty much was mostly trains the few times I wondered in. Its been 5 or more years since Ive been there.
  2. Ive been to Venture many times and Als Hobby shop (it was Elmhurst not Lombard) Trost was a drive from the burbs but I went anyway. Before I had a car a trip to Dispensas kiddie kingdom (spelling) was always great . Loaded with toys only it had one long aisle of models ...boy to be back in the old and older days..
  3. Late thank you on a trade (again) with "vintagedragcrazy" thanks Vince..
  4. Been looking for an unbuilt IMC or Union VW stock/altered kit for a while.
  5. Another fine trade with ''bismarck'' Kevin Little....
  6. Picked up a builder original '34 Ford pick up at the last swap meet I went to. Soaked 95% of the old paint off and since it wasnt a glue bomb it should be a easy build Its going to be a mild custom and I wont be using the supplied chrome engine or stock motor, I'll use the Pontiac V-8 from the '36 Ford coupe..it drops straight in..also using bigger chrome bullet headlamps from the '32 Chrysler Imperial.
  7. I didnt forget this one, besides helping with daughters wedding , wife and I went to Vegas for some relaxation...Shot some ''Red Pepper'' paint and sttill need to gloss coat started assy on engine..you need to trim some off the back of the alternator to fit right. While paint cures I'll start the interior..paint will be semi-gloss black.
  8. Those are really nice, I like that '58 Chevy..
  9. The hockey and basketball rivalry was pretty good back when. Then the players you hated in Detroit became loved in Chicago [ Rodman-basketball and Probert-hockey ]
  10. Thats a thoughtful thing to do for a friend. Im sure his family would enjoy what your doing also.
  11. I really liked the Sox during Ozzie Guillens watch. When Ozzie was in Chicago his wife said ''Minnesota is coming to town'' Ozzie said ''good, are you dating somebody from there?' Who cares''. His sons were the talk of sports radio almost daily. I didnt care for the Jim Thome trade Sox to Twins. I met Minnie Minoso numerous times in Elmhurst .So you can say I like the Sox...and I also like everyone that plays the Cubs..
  12. It may not look much like progress and its hard to tell in primer , but [Snake45 ] Richard pointed out a high body line at rear side window. I dropped that line down and repaired a few rough spots above that. Also shown is how the rear bumper now fits.
  13. Wire axles vs detail on the chassis..my only issue with the AMT are the headlights, they stick out like bugeyes..This is one of the kits that had working lights at one time and now need to be drilled out and replaced with clear lenses..
  14. Added the new plate and drilled for pins. The license plate will cover pins. I'll then drill two receiver holes in the evergreen I added as filler on the body and it should be ok. I'll have to re-chrome the bumper but at least it looks better and easier to mount
  15. These cars are some of my favorites, love to see them fixed up,
  16. I see what your saying, the line is up as high as the bottom edge of the rear side window glass on the kit, lower on the 1:1.. here the ref pic I got from the web [ high performance pontiac forum ] Cleaned up rear bumper of flash and mold lines, removed over thick and over size license plate and made one from sheet plastic . No pics as its soaking in bleach to remove the rest of the chrome.
  17. Thats a nice purple, almost a deep chrome purple Looks like a great start.
  18. A.C. this is the one I started with ..In the next picture, the bumper and panel are from the MPC White lightning version, you can see the mounting tabs and the holes are in the grooved part of the panel. On my 2003 issue once you install the panel there will be a gap that the bumper covers up, but without the angled guide pins in the bumper or holes in panel to put it,you will have to fill that gap to use the bumper. In my top pictures you can see the rear of the car above the panel I put evergreen strip to fill that gap..Its all fixable..
  19. Moving away from customs and showrods for a build or two, Im building the 2003 issue 69 Firebird. The back bumper area on this kit is terrible, I have the MPC White lightning version of this kit and in the rear bumper area everything fits perfect, on this AMT RC ERTL , the filler panel dont fit right, chrome bumper is full of flash and leaves you to figure out how to mount it as the 2 mounting tabs are deleted. I worked the panel in and sanded it smooth, adding a strip off evergreen below the lights to close the gap. Re-drilled axle holes to lower the body front and back.Single groove cheater slicks on back, narrow streets up front. Using the 400 that came with the kit but adding headers.
  20. What pleased me today was my only daughter got engaged , her two older brothers have been married for a few years and my daughter is our youngest. I'll have to cut back on kits to pay for this one..☺
  21. Very cool Nick, I love the old look..
  22. I have this AMT Porsche 928 in 1/24th Ive had for years. Was this done off the Monogram tooling ?
  23. Got this one all buttoned up, built from this kit only the tires are from the newer kit. Skirts , wheels & spinners are parts box, rear lights and side scoops are '58 Chevy
  24. Bill this has been a long worth the wait build ,workmanship is amazing , foil work is outstanding...
  25. Rounding the corner on this one.I just have to get the interior done and get the rest of the chrome on. Maybe some gingerbread off the Revell 49 Merc decal sheet..maybe.. May get it done tomorrow or Monday........
