Ditto that Buddy....one day I just might build one. I keep putting it off until my skills improve but I should just do it because I believe I've reached my peak as far as skills go? This was my real one bought new in '66 after putting the chrome reverse wheels on it Old poloroid pic. -

Well John, I'm finishing up my '70 AMT kit. My Wife bought the model for me because she realy likes the '70 SS. You are so right about the issues with this kit. Mine will not be entirely stock either, more "day 2" I'd say. -
Well that sure is interesting. I'm guessing whichever parent produces the white offspring must be plenty busy?
-
Yeah and if dummy here would have looked at the title of the thread I would have seen it was a Revell kit?
-
You are correct Keith. Mine is the AMT. And whats up with the drive shaft moulded into the floorpan.. AMT sure does do some goofy stuff.
-
Thanks for the info on the headlight assembly. I do see how it shows trimming around the opening. I was thinking about just cutting the headlights off the grill and attaching them separately. Anyway, again, you did a super nice job on it. Your foiling work looks great. I don't know if the drip rails on yours were moulded well but on mine about half is almost non-existant.

Looks great Tom. Finishing up one right now. You said no fitment issues....so how did you get the front bumper/headlight/grill put on? Mine doesnt fit like the lousy instructions say to do it?

Good tips here. I have been using point of tooth pick. Slow and tedious but usually comes out OK. Gotta try that #11 blade trick. -
Lotta great work there Jim. Seeing that hot rod Chevy Stovebolt gives me an idea for an old '53 Corvette kit I have laying around tha tI've been wanting to de as a gasser. Now I just need the engine. Cool build?
-
Yep Scott....nailed it. Pretty shade of orange. What paint and clear you use??

Looking good there James...that body looks really cool in purple!!

If anyone is interested Harts Parts has non bumper guard bumpers and flat hood in resin. Bumpers would have to be Molotowed....or other chrome of your choice. -
Ha, from one retired Mike to another....ENJOY!!

1100 Porsche' s and 189 Bentleys. Maybe someone can post a link to the story.

A bit of nostalga for me with the pic of the black one. Dead ringer down to the red lines and hub caps of my first new car. Picked it up at the dealership in Metarie, LA in September of 66. Was one of the last production '66 SS's. As for the model, Just wish it didn't have the gawd aweful bumper guards. -
Thanks for the review Erik. It will continue to be BMF for me.

Really good looking '68 John. Grrr8 color!!

My airbrush has a #3 tip. Sprayed the Future at around 25-28 psi. I'm far from an expert at air brushing but the results were good. I just did a couple light mist coats, let each dry a few minutes in front of a space heater (hair dryer works too) then wetter coats drying between coats. For me, letting each clear coat dry a minute or so, using the hair dryer smooths out orange peel.
