  1. What usually gets me to buy a model is looking at other peoples builds. I'll see a few builds of the same kit but then I'll see one that's done in a particular way and will take inspiration from it. It could be the shade of paint, the colour combo or the builders style. A lot of kits I just like anyway, but if I'm on the fence on whether to buy a certain kit the usual motivation for me is seeing one done in a particular way. The other reason I buy a kit is if I can see something I can make of it other than the box art, especially if it's an old basic kit. Improving on the original sculptors work gives a huge sense of achievement.
  2. There was a listing here in the UK for an Airfix Morris Marina, 1/32 scale, my holly grail find. Start bid was £100. It was listed as opened, partly built, and get this, missing the body! Somehow it sold, unless the buyer had a body I'd say they had more money than sense personally.
  3. Chaplin (at the time) was the worst movie I saw. I was only 14 at the time though. Me and my friend got in through the fire exit, we had no specific plan on what film we were going to see, we just decided to sneak in and watch whatever was showing that night. We went up a flight of stairs and snuck in from behind the screen, I remember staying low cos we weren't sure if our shadows would show through, Lol. We took a seat on some props behind the screen and watched the first half hour (back to front!) before we were board out of our minds and left the same way we came in! xD I've seen Chaplin since (the right way around) and it's a pretty good movie. A couple days later we did the same thing and watched "A few Good Men" and watched the whole film, but we managed to sneak up the aisle to get a seat that time.
  4. Got these three recently. Still no sign of the new release '64 Belvedere in the UK so when an older release popped up I had to get it, again not in the UK but from Germany. I've heard good things about the '57 Fairlane and added that to my to do list. The Plymouth Volare I bought a couple weeks back which I was going to build last week but the '65 Grand Prix jumped the queue:D
  5. Move over George Barris, there's a new kid in town! Keep at it, I love stuff like this.
  6. Looking good. I'm liking the stance and the colour.
  7. That cant be a Taxi, it's too clean, haha! Very nice job.
  8. You've done a solid job on this, very nicely built and detailed.
  9. I like this. Reminds me of the war movies I'd watch with my dad on Sundays, it even looks black and white. Very nice job!
  10. Nice build, lots of little parts it looks like. Well done, very nice.
  11. Looks really nice! I've always liked the GTX and the Satellites, sounds like a band from the 50's, xD
  12. Looks good, very nice stock T It's crazy how many of these Ford made, about 15 million!
  13. He can paint it any colour he likes... so long as it's black:D
  14. Looking forward to seeing this progress. My first ever kit was the Jo-Han '70 442.
  15. Looks great now, especially with all the chrome trim done. The vinyl roof was a good choice, that colour was a bit much over the whole car. Very nice.
  16. Yeah, definitely. The hardest part of making a stock base model I think is finding the right wheels. Though I did have to scratch build a centre hood trim on my '66 which was a bit fiddly.
  17. Another 442 gets downgraded to a Cutlass! xD I did the same with a '66 442 a few weeks back.
  18. Good job on repairing the a pillars.
  19. Very nice.
  20. Very nice, I'm liking these. Great work so far.
  21. The '57 Chevy. Like the Electra, I bought another is what I meant.
  22. The '55 to '57 Chevy and the late 60's Mustangs are in a few top tens here. I too really enjoyed building the '57 Chevy, and like the '62 Electra, I bought another. I haven't tried the newer moulding yet though. The Revell '69 Mustang Boss was also a delight to build and they looks so good. I tend to go for older tooling kits for their simplicity but so far of the modern tooling kits I've done, the Mustang, for me, has been the most enjoyable, but as Chris said... Subject to change, Prices and participation may vary. Void where prohibited. haha!
  23. Yep, if it's a kit you've built more than once it's definitely going to be in your top builds! I limited it to ten as the lists would be massive, nearly all kits are enjoyable:) I've built maybe 26 kits in the last few month and all of them have been great fun, but some more than others. Even if you've built 300 kits, just pick ten that stood out for you the most.
  24. Thanks, guys. I wont be building for a couple weeks now, I have a ton of welding to do on my 1-1 car and an order of car parts I was supposed to start on last week. My next build will probably be the 1957 Fairlane 500.
  25. Looks great. The wheels suit it nicely, very nice job on this. The black stripe on the dark red looks good..
