I found out this existed while in the 'movie cars that haven't been kitted' thread. I had to get it! Also got this '71 T-Bird and another Buick Electra. I love the Electra kit, although a very worn out mould it builds up into such a nice looking model i had to get another!

Garden bed find
doorsovdoon replied to Chuckyg1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had tons of Hot wheels as a kid, I loved them. A few months back I also found a toy in the garden. It's a Matchbox air plane, 747? I don't think it's too old, it's mostly plastic. It's been out there for at least ten years, since that's how long we've been living here. I gave it a wash off and came out pretty good surprisingly. -
Yep, that's the plan with all my builds from now on, if it looks good enough, it's good enough, haha! I've only ever used clear once and that was on my '67 Impala. The paint, being metallic should have shined like mad, but was drying to a flat finish for some reason so I used clear. It's Halfords brand, both paint and clear. I don't know what the equivalent to Halfords in the States is but it's very good quality paint.

Thanks, Carl. Strangely, the paint looks smoother and more even the second time round. I won't even need to polish or clear it.

Nice sculpting. The front looks like a Morris Minor. -
Flames in a lava lamp! Looks amazing!
-
Very nice. Not sure what colour to look at, it all catches the eye.
-
Stunning. That screams 1960's! From the builds I've seen of yours so far I have to say this is my favourite.
-
Another great looking build. I love the '64 Impala kit. I did the older release a few months back and my son did the newer one with opening trunk.
-
Good looking custom. Really nice work on hand painting the murals, I like that!
-
I love these glue bomb saves. Something that was once fit for the bin can turn out looking like this! Flawless looking paint. Nice save.

All the blues kind of blend into each other nicely. I like the stance with those wheels, and the pipes coming out the hood. Very nice build.
-
That's a sweet looking build, I like that. I still see these from time to time wobbling down the road with a roof full of holidays!
-
Beautiful gasser! Looks just right for that 70's gasser scene.
-
Another nice build. These were a common sight here where I live. A Taxi rank here run a fleet of four door versions in white before they switched to ford Sierras.
-
wow, that's nice! I agree with the others, can't see any flaws, but everyone's standards are different I guess. I'd be over the moon with this result.
-
oh yes, now that's how you build em! It almost looks like a die cast? Lovely job.
-
That's a good looking custom. Nice work! I might have to get this kit while I can, there's some on ebay UK. The front lights look similar to one of the custom lights option in my Grand Prix build.
-
That's looking nice! White with red interior is such a nice combo.
-
Classic T-Bird colour. Looks really nice! These older kits can look so good.

Paint arrived today, I wiped down the body with brake cleaner to get rid of any contaminants and give the car four coats of paint leaving a half hour break between coats. It's done, it looks good, AND I AIN'T TOUCHING IT for at least a few days before I do the foiling and polishing! Lol,

Yes, vinyl roofs are huge moisture traps, also this was a time where cars were being built with a limited shelf life in mind, cheap materials and prefab construction. Probably why it's so hard to find one with a vinyl roof.
-
Maybe they dropped the option by '79 but this one from 1976, bottom pic, says I didn't imagine it. Honestly, I've looked at tons and tons of pictures of these cars for reference and there were some with vinyl roofs.
-
Probably aftermarket fitments then, it's no big deal anyway. I did the line down the centre because the ones I have seen with vinyl roofs the seam go's down the middle, you can just make it out on the last picture of the red car. I thought it odd, but that's how it is, or not apparently, Lol.
-
Did they not come with a vinyl roof? I can't find the picture of the bronze car now, typical, but I came across these. The brown car could be painted roof though. Anyway, I don't know American cars and just thought a vinyl roof would look good:)
