    62 impala

That’s a beauty Anthony! My dad had a 62 Impala, so I have a real soft spot for them. I built a replica of his years ago in the same blue, with a 283 automatic instead of the 409. Love the lines on these cars… Nice build sir! Cheers, Steve
  2. I recently bought 2 new pin vises. Tamiya and Mr Hobby. In my opinion a high quality tool is worth the money spent. Both the Tamiya and Mr. Hobby are well made and have a much better feel than my older ones which I believe were X-acto? I also highly recommend purchasing drill bits with a standard shank size. I now almost never have to change collets in my pin vise. AK Interactive , Mr. Hobby, and I’m sure a few others make bits with a standard shank. I also personally like drill bits in mm rather than a number, with 1mm being close to 1” in 1/25 scale it makes choosing a bit easy. Just my 2 cents…
  3. Thanks Bill! It would be a pretty cool ride in 1:1 Hopefully you had a look at the finished build under glass.
  4. Hi Mike. Are you wanting to come to Duece days? Open invitation sir. It would be great to see you here!
  5. Thanks Anthony. I have wanted to do something like this for years, it was good to finally create a place to photograph my builds. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Hi Claude, don’t worry, I will send you some photos! The good news is that I might be at the last GSL too, still figuring that out with my lovely wife. Cheers, Steve
  6. Hi Marc, as a guy that likes low, this is right up my alley. I will be having a close look at your WIP, some great stuff here. Nice build! Cheers, Steve
  7. Hi Rich, great looking truck. The whole build is really nice, but the scratch built topper is brilliant. The green looks pretty close to the factory colour those trucks came in. Cheers, Steve
  8. Thank you Marc, I appreciate the kind words. Stance is extremely important for me, and I like low!
  9. Very nice clean build Mark. Love the blue with the wood grain bed, it creates a fantastic contrast. Love that diorama too! Cheers, Steve
  10. Thank you Francis. Yes the photos are outside, with overcast skies which seems to be the ideal light. That was more fluke than planning.
  11. Hi Greg, lots of nice work going on here as usual. The dash looks REALLY nice ?. I always wondered what the stock seats were “supposed” to look like…. Regarding the gauge decals, the GMC version actually has gauge decals. I haven’t decided if I will use those or some after market ones. Having said that, I guess I’d actually have to start building mine to need decals? Your gauges look great to my eye. Cheers, Steve
  12. Looks great James! You’re cruising right along.
  13. Hi David, nice to see you back on this one. The rear bumper chrome looks really nice. Did you use a black base coat? Curious, because one day I will be brave and have a go at trying Alclad chrome, or Spaz Stix. Looking forward to your progress on this. Cheers, Steve
  14. Thanks vincen47, I will need all the help I can get with the rig project. I’ve only built one rig and that was about 41ish years ago. I believe I was about 12 when I built it.
  15. Claude!! You found me over here. You don’t miss much do you? I did throw in a few rear oil seal leaks, or perhaps if someone had backed in. To be fair, the contractor did a really good job on the parking lot base prep, so asphalt cracking is minimal so far…. I don’t want to be cheeky and gloat about our west coast weather, especially since we have been averaging about 5-6 degrees below seasonal for months!!! I did consider a pothole, also a patched pothole with a different grit of sandpaper and slightly different colour. Thanks for checking in Claude, always nice to hear from you. Did you talk to the VP about Duece Days yet?! Cheers, Steve
  16. Thanks Patrick! Not a standing ovation, but heck, I’ll gladly take in some applause ??
  17. Thanks Mike! There is something about phantom utes that I really like. Glad that this might give you some inspiration, I will keep an eye out for your creation in the WIP section. The diorama was fun, so thanks for commenting on that too. Cheers, Steve Hi Tim, I certainly appreciate your comments sir. I’m not much of a photographer, but hopefully this diorama will help a bit. I felt like I needed something better as a setting for taking photos. I know you liked the Ol Comino, so thanks again for your comments on that before, and now. Your builds and contributions to magazines over the years inspired me to build better models so… THANKS! Cheers, Steve
  18. Thank you Anton! I am pleased with how the diorama turned out. Nice to have a place to “park” my builds for photos now.
  19. Very nice build as usual David. 14 DAYS!!!! Heck, I’m lucky if I can finish one in 14 weeks! I did look in your WIP a couple of times, but definitely need to go back and have a closer look. In particular, I want to see the exhaust manifold treatment and the wire for the gumball. Both of those details really add a lot to this build. Thanks for sharing, and congratulations on finishing a beautiful model in what I would consider a very short time. Cheers, Steve
  20. Jim, I have seen you lay down layer after layer of paint with NO ISSUES. This seems very weird. Bummer for sure, but that Caddy is in good hands.☝️? No doubt you will have better luck next time. The colour is beautiful!!
  21. Yep… WOW!! Francis…. Hmmmm I’m actually at a loss for words. Just incredible sir. I’m assuming you realize that you have built an entire truck from scratch, in 1:25th scale, in 2 years. It’s incredible. To reflect on what you have done is amazing. Do you have a total parts count? I would love to know. Cheers, Steve
  22. Nice work Jim! You’re really gettin after it! Cheers, Steve
  23. I know, right…. Damn parking space hogs! ? I must admit, I was guilty of double parking my 1:1 ‘67 Beaumont a few times, but always in a far quiet corner like this. Thanks Jurgen! I appreciate that. It’s one of my favourite builds. Cheers, Steve
  24. Thanks vincen47, I appreciate the kind words. It can be a challenge to know how much is too much sometimes. With this, I figure I can add more later, whether it’s landscaping or oil stains on the asphalt, etc. Better to start simple. Thanks for taking the time to comment. By your avatar photo I’m guessing you spend time in the big rig section of the forum. I don’t venture over there much, but I do have a “rat rig” idea in my head that will surface over there eventually…. Cheers, Steve
