Fantastic builds and you do have a talent for laying down flawless paint finishes.

Some interesting kits listed here. Not that I anticipate these kits being reissued but the late 60's full size Pontiacs and the late 70's Camaros would be great along with the '73 Caprice. As for the MPC version of the '72 Chevelle that's been previously discussed I'm not sure I'd be interested in that one despite my fondness for the 1:1 car. I have the early 80's SSlasher version and I'm not sure I'll ever build it. As evidenced in the pictures below the drivers side quarter window is completely misshaped. The door handles are out of place (though they could replaced with P/E versions) and there is no wheel opening moldings which would require styrene rods as replacements. And the AMT version of the '72 Chevelle is okay but for some reason the recent releases have a more generic egg crate grill.

Great work Tom and I'd eventually like to try a build using the weathered look you used on the Chevy pickup.

Followed these builds on SA last year and in addition to learning many techniques it's inspired me to raise the level of my builds.

Having recently built one of these I was quite curious myself as to what function that cylinder mounted on the drivers side inner fender well served. I didn't realize these cars had any sort of air leveling system until I read your comment. And according to Hemmings that cylinder is in fact part of the "Automatic Level Control" 1970-'71 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS | Hemmings. Mystery solved.

That's a great build overall and the halo style vinyl top is superb. I have two more of these kits and would like to do one of them with a vinyl top such as your model .

Those are beautiful builds of some pretty rare models. I like the color of the '64 GTO and will have to try that mix of Tamiya paints on a future build of mine. That '71 or '72 Cougar looks superb in that color combination.

Roger you definitely have a talent for altering the appearance of a model. Great work.

Those are all awesome looking builds on some rare models.
-
That's perfection.

Fender flares are looking good as they can be a bit tricky. And I remember having to to quite a bit of scribing to the rear window trim.

When I built mine a couple years ago I was also concerned about the clear film around the perimeter of the screaming eagle But it really doesn't show. As for the metallic flake I used Deja-Blue in the same Testors line and they look much larger in the pictures. Sorry to see you had a bad break with the clearcoat as you're doing a great job with this kit.

Those are all spectacular. I have the '66 Impala kit and that will serve as inspiration when I build mine.

Awesome paint work. I like the Tamiya line of paints and have been considering this color but haven't had the opportunity to see a model in this color until now. Thanks for posting this.

Gorgeous build on a nicely detailed model. I have to get one of these. As a fan of green cars this one is an awesome shade. And sorry for your loss.

Great job and very nice detail work including washing the panel lines.

Just looked up a picture on ebay of a '70 Impala promo and I never noticed the incorrect upper quarters as you mentioned. Didn't realize the annual kit was incorrectly labeled an "SS" either. Might explain why there's a floor shifter with the bench seats which I always thought was odd when I built a more recent release.

Wow! That is stunning. I have an appreciation for these Eldos and the color choice is perfect. I like all the interior detail on the door panels and I'd like to do the same as I have two of the "Rancher" kits. And I just realized the pin striping looks perfect.

Thanks Bob and that orange is one my favorites from Tamiya. And for now.....no decals. Thanks Stephen. I prefer the second generation Firebirds also but I do have a '69 in my stash.

I was scrolling through when I came across this older post of these gorgeous Camaros. Now...this.....kit would be an excellent candidate for a reissue. I've always been a fan of the disco-era Camaros. Even if their 350 engines only produced 190 horsepower with Air Induction.

Thanks Chris. I have one more of these kits to still build.
-
When I first saw the pics of those kits I was like why is there a table on the trunk lol. Yeah exactly...lol. The big cat coughing up the Cougar is pretty hilarious too.
-
Well thank you very much for that image Greg and clearly there is a distinct difference amongst the spoons. This is good information as I happen to have a couple cans of Tamiya TS-18 and I'll be able to alter the appearance of the paint from one model to another.

Great thread and an interesting look back at model car history. For me personally getting back into the hobby the last two years after decades being inactive with the hobby I've enjoyed purchasing some of the vintage kits I'd had when I was young. And it doesn't matter whether or not the box art is very good as it's provided a sense of nostalgia. That being said I've never seen a good deal of these and it's hard to believe they were produced in such a fashion. But oddly enough I do like some of them notably Revell's Nomad wagon on the beach. As for that unappealing Buick Century stock car I guess Lindberg thought it had a winner and did a Grand Prix. But then that's more of a kit content matter.
