It appears to be a clean looking body with well defined panel lines around the doors. Didn't realize there wasn't a back seat on this one. And yeah, I've joined the club having just received the MPC '79 Nova a couple of days ago and looking forward to building mine.

Okay, well thank you for the information on the clear coat.

Glad to hear Rustoleum's Gloss Lacquer performs well as I purchased a can online a month ago and wondered about it's capabilities.

I actually occasionally enjoy investing the time in not so great kits. While my skills are definitely still a work in progress I was reasonably satisfied with what I did with the MPC '79 Trans Am.

Nice score. Those kit values have soared in the past couple of years.

Those look good but I'll probably just fill the hole in the top of the seats I have if I don't wish to use the headrests that come with the kit.

After hearing less than stellar reviews on the AMT '67 GTO model kit I debated purchasing one. Finally decided I wanted to accept the challenge and see what I could do with one. Opened the box upon receiving today in the mail and I have to say it will take some time and patience to build this one. But it's all good though.

Just a Factory Stock 1983 Hurst/Olds by Revell.

Beautiful job overall. I've heard the decals can be tricky on this one and yours are spot on. -
Just received one of these in mail today and will follow this thread as there is much valuable information here.

After seeing Gareth's impressive stock version of this MPC Squad Rod Nova I decided to acquire one myself and build a factory style Nova.

Thanks for the link as it was very informative. I had previously considered Tamiya's TS-84 Metallic Gold since I was looking for a color that was comparable Solar Gold for a Pontiac Trans Am I plan on building. After watching this video I think TS-87 (Titanium Gold) will suffice.

The horsepower of that Vette doesn't matter because it still looks much better than most new cars these days in my opinion. -
Interesting fact as I've considered purchasing a can of TS-84 and would've cleared over it.
-
I agree with you 100 percent. They apply beautifully right out of the can (I don't have an airbrush) and TS-13 clear can be rubbed out to a high polish.

Been debating purchasing this kit but haven't found one at the right price. Did a search to see a completed one when I came across this very impressive build. I have to say the color combination is so appropriate for the era and so is the vinyl top.

Nicely detailed motor.

Looks like three Tamiya paints which I've yet to try and seem interesting.

Nice looking display case and something I'd consider building as my collection grows. Adjustable shelves like this one are definitely the way to go.

The Century body looks great. I always liked the sweeping fender lines on the '73 to '75 model years.

I just picked up the Round 2 release of the '66 Buick Wildcat kit yesterday (in addition to it being a fun build I liked the vintage box art) at Hobby Lobby. It's a more recent addition on their shelves despite the kit being out since 2019 and with the 40% coupon it was 14.99 plus tax.

You lay down such slick and mirrorlike paint on your models. That inspires me to keep getting better with my finishing process. -
I agree that the blacked out vertical bars in the grill create a cleaner appearance on the Super Sport models. Eventually when I build my kits I intend to darken those areas.
-
Yes, it is definitely a high quality build as it's detailed beautifully and built very cleanly. I've seen this color on 1:1 cars at shows but never on a scale model. The red interior (something else I haven't seen on the 1:1 cars in this color) also works well with the Royal Plum. This is one of my most favorite subjects as I have a couple of these kits in my collection that need to get built.

I have this kit (currently unbuilt) and it's nice to see this spectacular build.
