FORD 1951 COE wrecker custom
Jon Cole replied to CUSTOMBOY's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
When I first saw the pics of the 1:1, I thought "That would make for an awesome model build". And, you did just that! -

Can anyone tell me how to make a Model A hood hinge? All four sections? I really prefer not to buy photoetch piano hinge. I hope someone has done this before. On each side, the top of the hood goes up, and the side panel swings in.

If You Hit the Powerball Tonight...
Jon Cole replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, multiple non winners doesn't bode well for keeping up any confidence that there will eventually be a winner any time soon. It's no secret that the odds for winning the top prize has been made more difficult this past October. Personally, I just want to see someone win. Sure, I would like that to be me, but I also know how these super gigantic draws tend to get people to spend more than they should, given the odds. As for what I would do if I won, is cars. REAL cars. And a tri level barn to hold them. Basement, ground floor, and upper floor. And of course, an indoor car elevator. And of course, land to expand. Buy a model company. As others have previously stated, not worth starting from scratch. Especially since I have zip background in business management. Would rather help out a company such as Moebius financially. The only vehicle I would lean on them for, would be a Corvair Rampside. To be followed by the Corvair Van. Otherwise, I would just let those in the know, keep the best days of model kit production coming, and well funded. -

How to remove polish before repaint?
Jon Cole posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Between a wet sand, and a Novus 2 polish, I went through the paint to bare plastic on a model. What do I wash the body with so I can repaint it? Edit: I should add that I was hoping to avoid stripping the current paint, but I won't rule it out. Thanks. -
Does anyone cast these wheels?

I cannot see the photo. Does not support a php document. -

Seems I saw somewhere that a sandrail, or a dune buggy was going to be released. Had paddlewheel tires. Cannot seem to find anything on it. Is anything like this due out?

What's the best looking method? I am working on a series 1 Miata, want it to look as real as possible. Just go with the standard clear red, & orange, or? Also wondering if it would look better over silver, or black? Would really help to see some examples of painted taillights. Thx.

I have an illuminated curio cabinet to display my models, with an in line rotary switch. Any ideas out there on how to create a passive on-off switch that senses when someone is in front of it? My attempts at finding some info on Google turned up little. Sounds like something for someone with a home security background. If it can be done for under $100 I would be interested.

Dean Milano Corvair Rampside
Jon Cole replied to Psychographic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Premier Rampside is not very accurate in shape, as well as accuracy. Not so much as any clear parts. Dean's Rampside is light years better, and as stated earlier, it was based on a VW Vanagon. -
As I look at the parts layout, I see little clues that spark the ol' memory bank. The cut hood... the four port fender collector for the exhaust. I love it when I see something that I may have built as a youngster. Maybe this time, I'll be smart enough to not paint the body with oil paint!

So right! Like those hot pipes. How did you get them to look like that?

Cool! Keep it going. Looking forward to completion.

MPC 1982 Dodge Van "Bad Company"
Jon Cole replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Dajiban! They actually "race" these vans in Japan. Although the pics I have found, show a later model van. I think they are amused at the bulk of them. Plus, vans (usually mini) are still hot over there. -
Thanks, Mike. Is that aerosol, or bottle?
