It does indeed appear to be flat spotted. Good thing I am a model builder, and can fix this with a minimal amount of filler on the roof. Then I'll use some sanding sticks to get the right shape. Won't be too thick. It's just plastic.

Dig the idea of a Halloween truck! Not quite Halloween, I did an "Autumn" theme some years ago. Next up is a Christmas truck, as well.

He's not asking you to sign any papers here. It's just one of those friendly "conversation makers" that some of us do.

Finger prints! Tape residue!
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This was round 2 (effort, not the brand) Sprayed over my first Tamiya paint. I used Iso alcohol, wiping it dry. Second attempt went great! -
Just happy to see the kit. Stock, or PO. We builders will make it what we want! Do a motor swap, update the rolling stock & suspension. Maybe even top it with the PoPo stuff? Anything is possible.

How-to Q.... so I have model body all taped up. I've already painted the woody parts, masked that off to paint the majority of the body. But, I got fingerprints, and even some tape residue on one spot. What's the best way to wash & prep for color coat, without saturating it in a sink full of water?

Awesome build! Color choice- everything- just right. Want to start the one I have, if I still have it!

What did you see on the road today?
Jon Cole replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What I saw on the road today- MY CAR! Fresh out of the body shop, wearing new paint on the hood and front fender, and headlights wet sanded & buffed. So happy! -
There's.... no topping that. Obviously, some form of magic was used. Stunning. Just stunning.

List your favorite cars of all time

You're going to need some quality scuba gear, and rust neutralizer to make the Chrysler Norseman a reality. -

I have also watched the years go by, hoping that my nephews would take interest in the hobby. Bought them a kit. Nothing became of it. One even had it, unbuilt in the box, at his mom's yard sale years later. But then again, I didn't offer to help, either. The parents didn't help. They were too busy running errands in their Maytag Minivan.

If the "CAMRY" exterior name could be replaced with "KENMORE", I doubt many would care. As long as it went from point A, to point B. And covered by a warranty. Nothing more than an automotive appliance. That's actually not a slam at Toyota, as much as a dig on the "automotive challenged" in society. They would be perfectly content with a Maytag automobile. Just be sure to include cup holders.

"holes". That is a wicked nice build! Sorry, I'm from New England. Some of us say "wicked". Now I'm not one to be a fan of the "rat rod" movement, but your build is great! Like "Two Thumbs Up" great. Most of us here don't say "Two Thumbs Up". Sorry.

For decades now, I have seen the attempts to bring kids in to our hobby. I’ve seen donks. I’ve seen tuners. I’ve seen late model muscle cars. I’ve seen TV and movie cars. I’ve seen kits with video disks included. I’ve seen lots of money and effort poured into this so called “youth” market. But, lets face it- you cannot force them to like this hobby. Maybe it’s just not their thing. Meantime, there are plenty of us current builders, some right here online, some not, waiting with money in hand for some new tool kits. As well as reissued and modified tooling. Forcing model kits onto a generation that doesn’t want to look up from their video game or text app is futile, and a total waste of resources. Give the attention to your current customer base. We will buy it. And in turn, I am certain that in 25+ years from now, there will still be guys that want model kits of that vintage 2013 Camaro ZL1, or the 1983 Hurst Olds that their dad had built. That is way down the road, and I am sure the players in the hobby market will adjust to whatever happens in the future. But if future builders want a model of a 2016 Camry, then all hope is gone anyhow. Some of today’s kids couldn’t tell the difference between a Keurig, and a KIA. And Revell will be tooling up 1:1 scale vintage Gameboy controller kits for them.
