Anyone know of an aftermarket source for wide whitewall tires? How about Sombrero style wheelcovers?

Jimmy Flintstone 32 Bonneville Car
Jon Cole replied to Austin NJ's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I believe that 2 part epoxy, fast drying 5-minute cure, works well, and won't fog over any chrome or clear plastic like super glue will. Maybe others will go more into removing mold release? I believe it's a little more involved than a hot soapy water wash. Or is it? -

Try using Facebook page: GOOD BAD TRADER REPORTS II I think that sharing of info would be frowned upon here. Not a member of Facebook? Now you have a reason to join. Better than nothing. -
Revell Reissued 57 Chevy Black Widow wrong body ?
Jon Cole replied to kingiguana's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
People on production lines, especially if they don't know, or care what a '57 Chevy looks like? No, they wouldn't notice. Production lines run quick. No time to pick up or gawk at box art. Not everyone is a car nut, like us. Just like if the wrong Star Trek Enterprise part came down the line. Not gonna notice. -
As for the Foose F-100, the description at the link provided, describes in part: Nearly every panel was reshaped, reformed or cut. The cowl was sectioned, the hood was pie-cut, the front wheels were moved forward, the rear fenders were widened and raised up, the cab was section cut 3 inches at the rear window and the front fender wheel opening was moved up. A Roush NASCAR racing motor, serial number 1, was installed and one-off wheels were cut. http://www.chipfoose.com/ws_display.asp?filter=Ford_F-100

Some great stuff there! Thumbs up for the Charger, and the Suburban will also be a "must have"! The windshield frame on the Foose Caddy looks strange, for some reason. Maybe all that silver at the base? Don't matter, I will definitely buy it.

No headlights, no purchase. Omitting the clear headlights is just bad business sense. I don't care who they think the target customer is, if they omitted them once, who's to say they won't omit them again? They shoot themselves in the foot when they do this. Trust has to be earned, and once lost, is difficult to get back. It's the only game in town for a late model Mustang. I can live without the kit, and having to come up with an alternative just doesn't work for me. I have far too many other kits waiting for attention.

Two EldoRods in scale?
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for sharing this. Appreciated! -
Now we have a late 40’s Cadillac kit on the way- albeit a custom (see: Car Kit News & Reviews - Revell Q2/Q3 Flyer) The EldoRod by Foose Design. I already have a 1/24 diecast of it by Franklin Mint on my shelf. It’s a plum color, and is slightly different from the blue one shown, though I am not sure exactly what is different- it just is! So I was wondering why there is two different versions? Are they the same car? The plum colored is a pic of the Franklin Mint car I found on the internet; the blue one is the version that Revell has announced. I have seen a photo of the 1:1 scale plum version, I just don't have a photo.

About time we got a vintage Cad. Is that the Foose EldoRod?

ROUND2 SUPERBUG GASSER/ 57 FORD ISSUE
Jon Cole replied to AC Norton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Options! Remember, this can also be built as an exposed floorpan dune buggy. Which I think would look great with the steel wheel/ baby moon caps. -
Really an awesome build, Luis!

Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
Jon Cole replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Harry will be missed. I really believed he would beat this. RIP friend. -
Ron, can you help me on Satco Firestone w/w's? Did you cut away the center cross? If so, what did you use for a wheel? Same if you kept the cross, what wheel? I may go with this tire on a early 50's custom, I like the tire, just not sure what wheel can be pared with it, or what to do about that awkward tire center. Thanks.
-
Man, ain't that just fine! Great color & detail.
-
Aren't they now / were available in resin? Scandinavian source, IIRC.

I have a set of Satco Firestone ww's, but am puzzled by how to use them. Just cut out the center cross? If so, why is there an axle hole in the center?

Moebius - Now that the Comet is out, What's Next
Jon Cole replied to Swifster's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thinking... safe bets (and previously mentioned by others): AMC Javelin/ AMX. Been requested by many; well known, and not available in 1/25 scale for quite some time. Dodge Power Wagon. Iconic tough truck. Has military crossover potential. Those are the only ones I would guess. Though, who really knows? The Hudsons were a surprise, but those came to be because one of the principals at Moebius had or has a Hudson.
