  1. That car is sweet! Clean and... stock! Harry, if certain threads should get pinned, I would vote for this to be included. Maybe in "How to"?
  2. A well deserved bump on a great tutorial! Hope Bill can update us on this!
  3. Flying cars! Keep 'em coming!
  4. Photos? No link.
  5. Check out Danbury's Hirohata Merc. The hood has photoetched working springs. Engine is fully wired and plumbed. Chrome everything. Even has the hood latch up front. How many models do you see that on? Elsewhere, she has movable spots, opening doors (no big dogleg hinge here). All glass is trimmed in real metal, not BMF. The steering works, and the side skirts are removable. The trunk opens up on smaller, more to scale doglegs, and have just enough resistance to hold the metal decklid up. The fully carpeted trunk holds a spare whitewall with wheelcover. It can easily be removed. The chassis shows full detail, with the already mentioned poseable steering, metal brake and E-brake detail w/ springs, and plumbed dual fuel pumps. Inside, the floors are fully flock carpeted, with a contrasting color border piping visible on the tranny hump. The steering wheel can turn the wheels, and the split front bench folds forward for access to the back seat. While the doors are open, notice how easily the wing windows open and close. The downers? Well, all their brand and licensing is cast into the bottom of the chassis floor. The car is heavy, there is a lot of metal in this car. There is a door gap issue, but nowhere as bad as other diecasts, or a few plastic kits for that matter. The sides wear chrome plated side spears, and everything has a near flawless paint finish, Most of us would be so lucky (or skilled) to have it this good by our own hands. This car... is what I think of, when we talk about diecasts. I have a few Jadas & Welly cars, some I have given away, others I spy on for wheel doners. But... not my Mint cars. They are close enough to museum quality for me. And at the cost of about five new model kits, owning one feels like ya have something real special on your display.
  6. Great model builds!
  7. "Saw people's real names and identities investigated by crack forum pot stirrers"? I wasn't questioning anyones name, I was pointing out a possible explanation for their TITLE; in this case, "Dr.". Please get the facts straight. And unlike your post that I quoted in part, I was at least polite about it.
  8. Also, many times I have stopped writing a post, thinking "Why bother? Somebody is bound to get ticked off. Just not worth it". And the post is deleted before it is created. To be fair, sometimes that is a GOOD thing. The flip side of the coin? Some of the posts are not even controversial! You just never can tell what will set someone off! One time, someone was looking for Sombrero caps. I mentioned a caster that does them. I got a rude text from a well known machinist accusing me of depriving him of his livelihood! There are other instances also, but at this time not worth mentioning. None of this is exclusive to this site, it happens all over message boards and blogs. Personally, I think the moderators here do about a good a job as we can expect. I mean, I could never do that job! You can't shoot anyone over the internet!!!
  9. Good descrip of the 1:1 car! This detailed promo is nice, don't see them too often.
  10. So the builder was offended that his model was in the same league as a well built overall nice die-cast? Yeesh! Maybe had you mentioned Danbury Mint....
  11. Also, I am trying to condition myself to use the "View new content" button. I don't know why, but I have always avoided it. I always preferred to go down the list, so to speak. I know that I am missing many cool threads by that old, antiquated view habit. Gonna start using that VIEW NEW STUFF button!
  12. Bill, sorry to hear of the stress you are dealing with now. Life does keep handing us speedbumps. Hope everyone in your life does better, and we get to hear from you soon.
  13. Great build! Great color combo!
  14. Hello? The 80's called. They like the decals! Seriously, I want to build this as well. Such a great ride!
  15. That "Corvette Summer" pic makes me cringe!
  16. I wish I could find this chart in a better quality!
  17. Still more detail questions, if you don't mind. What appears to be a metal water hose exits from the top of the front housing, and runs down the side of the head above the intake, where it terminates between the two carbs for a rubber hose to take it to the firewall. So the Q is, don't heater cores have a return hose to the block? Where is the one on the Hudson?
  18. Besides what I see are the more obvious, which several have covered here already, I really couldn't do without my moto tool (yes, I know someone already mentioned it already), and my gooseneck magnifying lamp. Worth every penny.
  19. Questioning the authenticity of a celebrity's autograph / signature on a public forum is of course allowed!
  20. Christophers photo shows what you need. Find a set of sizes from #61 to #80, and don't be surprised if you occasionally break one or two. I keep a list on my phones Word program of replacement bits I need, some hobby shops do sell by size bit. A pin vise is good to have, but I guess a #11 knife handle will work.
  21. I can't even read the scratches in that signature. The typo is just in the description (or is it?)
  22. This made me think of the Corvette 1953 'Skinny Dipper' AMT kit by Tim Kolankiewicz... just double it up. I think the catamaran idea is wild! Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!
