New Build Dyno Don 1965 Mercury Comet A/FX

Nice. -
Thank you. I couldn't figure out what they were at first. Thanks.
-
Thanks. The covers came in the kit.

Mine had the in dash tach, but no instrument pod. I've been thinking of getting that kit and doing a replica, but it's hard to find right now. Yes, my insurance was also expensive, but I was toughing it out working with my Father in his logging business. I actually broke my rear end drag racing, and didn't have the money to get it repaired, finally sold it.

I followed your build, you did a great job, it came out really nice. I've got the same problem with a warped windshield frame that you had. I contacted Revell over 3 weeks ago but have not heard anything from them. Not sure what I'm going to do with it when I get to that point. I'll figure something out.

My first car was a 66 Impala SS 396, Rochester 4 barrel. 325HP, with a Muncie 4 speed trans. It was red with black interior and had a bench front seat. Didn't realize how rare this one was until I started looking, most of them I see on the internet have the bucket seats with console. I was 18, fresh out of high school, and man that thing was fun and fast. Racked up quite a few wins with it at the Saturday night grudge matches we had at our local drag strip. Wish I still had it.

Thanks. I brushed on a coat of floor polish, let it dry then added the decals, then brushed on another coat of floor polish. Maybe the decals will not sliver. Test fitted body to frame/interior and something is keeping it from going all the way down, maybe the tach. I'll have to take a closer look when I have more time.

Interior.........photos not very good..........I had some antique copper craft paint and decided to experiment with it on the seats, just for ***** and grins. I think I will be using it on a 29 roadster I plan to start on soon.
-
I'm working on the interior now, I'll post some pics of it soon. I thin with windshield wiper fluid, usually 50/50 but will vary some with different paints.

Not getting many comments, not much interest in this little drag car, I'll just post this one more picture until it's finished.....

Those are looking good Bob. I'm still trying to improve my painting. I've got a Paasche H now and I think I'm getting a little better. My work shed has no heat, so painting is going to be tricky during the cool months here. I'll have to come up with a way to warm my paints.
-
I'll give that a try, thanks. Meanwhile, first time trying to do some weathering on the engine...............

Had not thought of that. May have to go naked.......no decals.

Very nice Bob. Looks great. Love the color combo.

Thanks. Finished it a few days ago, it's in the under glass section. It's a nice kit, I had no problems with it.

This looks cool Bob. Looking forward to seeing it. I don't think I've seen this kit in my local HL, but I'll be looking for it next time I'm there for the 40% off week. -
Thank you. It's DecoArt craft acrylic called shimmering silver, got it at Hobby Lobby.

Went with this Apple Barrel craft paint bright blue. I'll put the decals on and brush on a coat of floor polish, should look ok....
