  1. Picked up the GremlinX from Ollie's. Got the Charger Stock Car from ebay. Haven't decided what decals I'm going to do on the Charger yet.
  2. I got them for keepsakes only. I will never use them. Just remember seeing him using them a lot. I also used them some back in the day when I was younger, and learned a lot from him on how to maintain and repair my vehicles. I'm 70 now and I don't do much mechanic work anymore.
  3. My Dad passed away last week. He was 99. Most of his life he was employed in the forestry industry, first working in his dad's sawmill operation and later his own logging outfit. He was also a shade tree mechanic, always working on some type of vehicle from large trucks to lawnmowers. Friends, family and others would always come to him when they needed any repairs, rebuilds, etc. I remember he had a bunch of Chilton's and Motor's repair manuals. Going through some of his stuff I found these. They are in fairly good shape except for a old musky book smell. The truck manual seems to be from 1968.
  4. Thanks Bob. Did you send photos of the warped frame?
  5. I'm getting out of office responses. The first contact said out of office and no email forwarding, and gave a alternative contact. Tried that one and got the same response.
  6. Finished up the decals. Working on the interior................
  7. Thanks. I sent them a email asking for a replacement. It will probably be a month or longer before I start on it anyway.
  8. Just checked, yep mine is warped too. Mine is worse on the top, I may be able to cut it off and get the bottom to fit right.
  9. I have this kit but have not opened it yet. I'll have to check it and see if mine has the warped frame. Your build is looking good Bob. Wheels look great.
  10. I'm using a Paasche H with a craftsman 3 gallon 120psi compressor, works fine. It has a regulator that I set at around 20-25psi and I installed a water trap. Someone already mentioned you can get the H kit for around 50 bucks. Harbor Freight has 3 gallon compressors for 50 and up. You could come out around 100 for a complete setup.
  11. And I appreciate your advice. I'm just saying I've had no problems with the Rustoleum priimer and paints. I just wanted to know if I could use the Duplicolor over the Rustoleum primer because I couldn't find a red I liked in the Rustoleum, now I know it's not a good idea. I plan on trying the Duplicolor, both the primer and paint as soon as I can get some.
  12. I have the same problem with the Rustoleum red. Other colors seem fine.
  13. About a day. The primer does fine, dries quick.
  14. Thanks. They came with the kit. I'm trying to put on the smaller ones now, I always have trouble getting them on straight.
  15. I sprayed Krylon pepper red over a piece of the plain orange sprue, sprayed another piece that I had primed with the 2x grey primer. Could not tell the difference. I went ahead and did the body with the grey primer and put on the Krylon red pepper, it looks fine to me. The only problem I'm having, and this has been with the Rust-Oleum red and the Krylon red, is it stays tacky for a long time, does not seem to want to dry completely.
  16. I've never used duplicolor. I've been using Rustoleum 2x primer and paints and have not had any problems with them except with the 2x red, which seems to stay tacky too long. The 2x primer is great. This is my first time using Krylon, put it on top of the 2x primer, it worked fine and looks great.
  17. I was in our local Ollie's just this past Wednesday looking for models, they had 0. Didn't even think to look at their paint. Thanks, I'll check them out next time. That red does look good.
  18. Thanks guys. I found a nice Krylon red at wally world, I'm going with it.
