Tamiya cement guestion? Please explain..
Dpate replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That’s cause you’re using it wrong. Even though it can work that way - it’s really meant to be used for parts out together unpainted. It works best when parts are pre fitted together so it can flow through n weld the parts together i.e engine halves. I personally use quick setting extra thin by Tamiya as it dries faster. The orange non scented cement is thick like regular CA glue, and is used in the same manner. Wanna try and not get too much paint on the brush either as dipping it back in the glue like that it can lose it’s potency over time. But if you’re wanting to glue parts together like using CA glue? Then you want the orange cap octagon shaped bottle. -

$1k MPC Mr Norm Funny Car
Dpate replied to Rodent's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wants $1000, but still has the nerve to charge $17 shipping lol. -
He has a net worth of 130-140 billion. I think he’ll be okay, and probably doesn’t care, and I don’t think he’s the CEO of Amazon anymore lol.

Review of Revell's new chrome spray paint

Yeah it does better out the can. I had some trouble trying to air brush it on kit parts because of the over spray. I’ll probably get another can sometime. -

Thanks guys. She’s the one that picked out the color because of the first picture of it over a white base. I accidentally did it over a black base, and it turnt out much darker, but thankfully she ended up liking it. I told her the same thing that it’s gonna look really good with a 2K clear coat on it. It’s certainly a unique color for a 65 impala lol, and with the black chromed out interior, and exterior it should pop. -

Well ordered dispade color from scalefinises awhile back carbon steel Pearl. Finally got around to using it along with the black base he gave me. So after using the color, instead of it looking like the first pic it turnt out like u see in all the other pics. No clear coat yet so it’ll look much better, but this car isn’t for me. I asked my girl if she liked this look a lot better than the original look (over white base, not black). In my head I’m like sigh gonna have to strip, and redo everything. But she actually said it looked good, and that I didn’t have to change it. So win win I suppose. -
Model Kit Retailer Reccomendations?
Dpate replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Plaza Japan is the best I think you’ll get. I order from them all the time, and their packaging is really good. The shipping is little high, but worth it considering most of the kits in the state that are $40+ you can get from them like $13-20$. I only order from them when I do big orders because of the shipping. They do Japan post, fedex, and DHL. DHL is the best, but shipping costs more. -
This gorgeous thang came in today. Rebox of lindburg. This might be my goal for it, and the rims look littler better than the spoke rims, but I’m not sure wha type of rims those are. Not sure yet still deciding. But from what I’ve been looking up it looks more like the Victoria. Didn’t know there was different versions of the same car.

How to get a good white paint job?
Dpate replied to Sonorandog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good white primer Mr surfacer 1500 or Tamiya white primer. Even pink primer would work good too. Id recommend use water n 3000K grit to sand the primer nice and smooth, and then go for the color coat. 3M has 3K grit pads you can get from Walmart or any automotive store, and worth every penny too $6 will last long time. I wouldn’t recommend Vallejo or ammo for doing a car body, and wouldn’t recommend Tamiya hybrid either. If you have to use Tamiya use their lacquer line up either aerosol or air brush 10ml bottles. Leagues better than their hybrid line up, and even the color pigment is better. -

The more coats of the revell the longer it’ll take to dry. Id let it dry for a good day or so just to be safe. -
How to get a good white paint job?
Dpate replied to Sonorandog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
There’s a lot of info missing from your topic. Do you want information about aerosol cans or airbrush? What type of finish are you currently getting? What white paint are you using? White isn’t the easiest of colors to do as it’s…white. -

Review of Revell's new chrome spray paint
Dpate replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Did the best I could hear as the spoon has been through the works since last pics. But if I had the proper blue base it would look even better like the C1 picture. From Tamiya & aoshima kit. This spoon was just Tamiya light pearl blue l, and cheap Mr hobby clear 46. With the proper metallic blue, and even better clear coat it would look like the C1 pic. -

It’s this stuff here. Hard to find, but similar to C1 metal powder. Even they have a pic on there site with it over a metallic light blue, and looks like the real deal. The bumper was gloss black before applying the powder. Thought it would have brightened up like my last tests, but instead got black chrome. That’s when I decided to try the blue. Think gunmetal color would work as a base too. The stuff is crazy durable by the way. Looks like graphite powder, but this is some how electroplating powder like C1 is. -

So I did another test with powder, and I know this isn’t revell but yeah. I did test over light pearl blue by Tamiya with clear coat. Only blue I had, but the results are a brighter chrome look. If you’re wanting a black chrome just check out this bumper I now got to redo lol. Top of the spoon was left white, but it didn’t chrome up too good. -
Model car garage sells a vinyl top kit black or white that will give you the best look you’ll get other than using textured paint say from MCW etc. You can get the kits for like $8 they’re legit. You can get them from MCG direct or places like model round up etc. Faux spray could work too, and can be paired any color afterwards using enamel.

1953 Ford crestline sunliner paint color?
Dpate replied to Dpate's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks for the info. Yeah not worried about 100% factory specs just thought the color looked good on it, and wanted to figure out what it was. The fernmist green seems to be the one especially by the color pic MCW has of it. -
